Interesting Question about district 20-4A

But the ONLY reason the the BMT schools would not still run the district, coaching. Yeah, I said it! Sorry to say, but the truth hurts! I still wonder if Silsbee maintains there success once the new coach has a team that is all his?
Explain.
We have all seen teams rise and fall due to coaching changes, Silsbee included. Similar to when Green left Central, Boutte left Ozen, and Gambl leaving PA the second time!
I don't consider Sigler a new coach. He did coach Silsbee from 1987 to 2003. He knows Silsbee and Silsbee knows him. I don't expect to see any fall off. I have seen what is coming up in the sub varsity ranks for Silsbee (7th and 8th district champs). I see no change. Sigler will do quite well in his second tenure at Silsbee. -

Interesting Question about district 20-4A
So 9 big schools (4a&5a) put then in the top of a 16 team bracket with one add in like Nederland tourney. And put 8 small schools in other bracket. Two separate tourneys in one with two best out of each bracket playing for the triangle championship.
Then you would have the big schools crying about the two 3A's having an easier route to the final. If you are gonna do it, put everyone in the same brackets. -

Interesting Question about district 20-4A
AggiesAreWe replied to Dick Vitale's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Locally, we only have two 5A's and seven 4A's. (unless of course you include North Shore, Baytown Sterling, Livingston and any of the 19-4A teams). To complete a 16 team field you would need to add 7 more teams. Other than HJ, Silsbee, WOS and HF, who else would fill out the brackets? -
Yes is will! We hope to still be playing, but the show will go on even without the Rebels involved.
Thank you. Didn't mean to leave out the girls, but I assume the same could be said if the Evadale girls are playing for a state championship that day. -
How do you think the gate receipts would compare?
More than likely would draw better crowds with more locals. I just don't see it happening because some of the smaller schools just do not want to play the local 5A and 4A teams. -

YMBL has been trying to do this the last several years, but some local teams just refuse to play in it. The locals that played in the YMBL this season: Beaumont Central Beaumont Ozen Beaumont West Brook PNG WOS Nederland Silsbee PA Memorial LCM Also, North Shore played, and they are in our local 5A district. The "out-of-towners" were: Dallas Kimball Dallas South Oak Cliff Fort Bend Ridge Point Fort Bend Hightower New Orleans Perry Walker Lufkin Replace those six with these six: Hardin-Jefferson Hamshire-Fannett Jasper Kountze East Chambers Evadale It would then become more of a local tourney but the overall quality of the teams would take a big hit. -
It's Senior Night at the Tiger Den as the #5 state ranked Silsbee Tigers will play host to the Orangefield Bobcats TONIGHT at 7:30pm in what will be the last home game of the season. Silsbee (21-7, 7-1), #2 in this week's SETXsports.com poll, defeated Hamshire-Fannett Tuesday night to clinch their spot in the playoffs. Orangefield (17-15, 3-5) took down Bridge City Tuesday night, 60-40, and the Bobcats are still clinging to hopes of getting in the playoffs themselves. Silsbee beat Orangefield the first half of district 79-54. Silsbee will be honoring it's lone senior in 3 year letterman and 2 year starter Kelton Gaines tonight. Broadcast time will start 10 minutes prior to tip off which is scheduled for 7:30pm. (time subject to change) Just click the link provided to listen to another Silsbee Tiger basketball broadcast!! Interesting Question about district 20-4A
AggiesAreWe replied to Dick Vitale's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
HJ struggled (and did lose mind you ;)) with Silsbee this year because Silsbee is just flat out a very good team. Like bullets stated, that is a very poor comparison of HJ/Silsbee and Ned/PNG as far as the quality of the teams. -
Interesting Question about district 20-4A
AggiesAreWe replied to Dick Vitale's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
In Silsbee's case, the past three seasons they were either the #1 or #2 ranked team in the area (SETX polls and other local media polls). I know it's just rankings but it does show that Silsbee has been considered the best of all the teams in the area the last 3 years. Also, Silsbee has defeated Central the last 3 times they have played and has defeated Ozen 3 of the last 4 times they have played. In fact, Central decided to discontinue playing Silsbee 2 years ago. It's all speculative as to how HJ and Silsbee would finish in 20-4A, but I have seen all the area teams play and I know of no other teams that are better in the area than HJ and Silsbee. If I had to say, they would finish at the top of 20-4A. -
I can understand anyone who has to work or has young children. I just believe these players deserve more support. It is a shame to see some teams with crowds of 20-30 people.
I have seen less than 15 before in district games and these were 4A schools!!

Interesting Question about district 20-4A
AggiesAreWe replied to Dick Vitale's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If Silsbee were to play Nederland, Ozen, or Central the way they played their two games against HF or their two games against WOS, then yes indeed, they would have lost several of those games. But also, bear in mind, although HJ beat Nederland and Central, I was hazard to guess that Nederland and Central have improved much more since those earlier games than HJ has. Those games would be neck and neck if played during district.
Two games? Let's see, the first game against HF was a 96-57 Silsbee win and the second game against WOS was a 79-54 Silsbee win. I see your point about the two close wins by Silsbee over HF and WOS, but not all 4 games. -
Looks like the only change for Coldspring was losing Madisonville and picking up Huffman. Is that right?
Huffman has been in Coldspring's district for several years now. I do not know who they replaced Madisonville with but it is not Huffman.

The schedules show that West Hardin is hosting Sabine Pass tomorrow and then next Tuesday, the 14th, Hull-Daisetta travels to Sabine Pass.
