  21. Region III is down to it's final two teams, #5 ranked Silsbee Tigers vs. #1 Waco LaVega Pirates!! These two teams will battle tonight in Johnson Coliseum on the campus of Sam Houston State University at 6pm, for the right to represent Region III at the state tourney in Austin next week. Silsbee (28-7) defeated Athens in the first semifinal, 96-84 in 2 OT, to put themselves in their 5th regional final game over the last 8 years. LaVega (34-1) took down the high flying Hawks of Hardin-Jefferson, 53-50, in the other semifinal. This LaVega's second trip to the Region III finals.
