A high school player MAY ONLY PLAY 4 YEARS regardless of when you turn 19.
Not necessarily true. Giddings had a player play 5 years, Fitzhenry. Just ask the WOS folks about him. ;) -

A kid can play any high school sport at the age of 19 as long as he doesn't turn 19 before Sept. 1st. He can turn 19 on Sept. 2nd and be eligible to run track at the state meet in June. -

Sorry, but he deserved it AGAIN this year too.
Thinking the same thing. :-\ Return 0 starters from last year (only 2 Lettermen), yet win 29 games and Co-District Champs, Bi-District and Area Champs?? ???
The Bi-district and Area champs is meaningless when it comes to all district selections. The picks are made before the playoffs start.

The SETXsports.com State Tourney Bracket Contest get's started this week. This is our 4th year to have this contest but new to this year will be a prize awarded to the winner of the contest. The person with the highest positive point total in the contest will receive a $50 gift card from Academy!!!! This is how you play: Post your semifinal winners followed by your championship winner in each classification. Here is an example: 1A DI Clarksville vs. Olton winner Clarksville Mumford vs. Kerens winner Mumford Champion: Clarksville There will be point totals both positive and negative for your picks. In the semifinals, you will receive a +1 for a correct pick, a -1 for an incorrect pick. If you pick the correct championship winner, you get a +5 points. If your pick is incorrect you will receive a -1. If neither of your semifinal picks in a classification does not make it to the finals, you will automatically receive a -1 point for that pick. To break any point total ties, the contestants will predict the total score of the Houston Yates/Denton Ryan semifinal game. Whoever is closest to that score will break the tie if there is one. You will need to have your picks in by 8am Thursday morning, March 8th. Thread will be locked shortly after. Here is the list of the semifinal games: 1A DI Clarksville vs. Olton Mumford vs. Kerens Champion: 1A DII Lennorah Grady vs. Graford Roxton vs. Calvert Champion: 2A San Antonio Cole vs. Brock White Oak vs. Idalou Champion: 3A Lubbock Estacado vs. Argyle Waco La Vega vs. Corpus Christi Miller Champion: 4A San Antonio Alamo Heights vs. Dallas Kimball Houston Yates vs. Denton Ryan Champion: 5A Northside Warren vs. Fort Bend Travis Flower Mound Marcus vs. Garland Naaman Forest Champions: Tiebreaker: Houston Yates/Denton Ryan total points: Good luck!!!

Hamshire-Fannett AD/HC now open

I think all freshmen and most sophomores should go through strength training. They need that development. But juniors and seniors that only play one sport should use that time for skill training for that sport. I am of the opinion that at small schools (3A and down) athletes should play multiple sports. No reason for some of the best athletes at the school just play one sport. At Silsbee, this year's varsity basketball team had just 2 players that did not play football. The remaining 10 played football, including 3 of it's starters in Elam, Gaines and Holmes. Of the 16 players on the Tiger varsity baseball team, only 2 of them did not play football. There are several that are three sport athletes at Silsbee. Football, basketball, baseball, track or soccer, combination of the three. Even though Silsbee is the largest school in 21-3A, it counts on it's athletes being multi-sport athletes. Silsbee makes all it's freshmen athletes go through UOS. -

Is it time to move UIL State Basketball tournament?
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I say move the Girls and Boys Basketball Tournament to the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. The metro plex is growing down there, and I'm pretty sure they got more nicer venues, and better arena's.
If they were to move it, I say move it to San Antonio. More hotels there than Austin. -
What happened to the seeding you described? Yates and Kimball could play in a semifinal. The top two seeds are determined by win %. Those two are San Antonio Alamo Heights at 33-2 and Yates at 32-5. Kimball is 31-5 while Denton Ryan is 23-11. Depending on the coin flip, Yates and Kimball could square off in a semifinal game. I am hoping they do not and meet in the finals.

Alamo Heights was awarded the #1 seed, Yates the #2 seed. A coin flip determined who these two would play in the semifinals. The coin flip paired Kimball against Alamo Heights and Denton Ryan against Yates.
