1. In regards to transfers, comparing HJ to Yates is utterly ridiculous. I do find it strange that Yates' enrollment is down to 3A level yet get 41 transfers to an unacceptable rated school. BTW DV, those 41 transfers are a fact and they all are awaiting the ruling on their athletic status, not their "communications" status. Magnet school or not, Yates has an unacceptable rating and anyone transferring to that school without moving into the school zone should have their athletic status questioned. As for Johnson who transferred to HJ, his form was signed off on by BISD and his family moved to Sour lake. Case closed.
 2. Good luck Alex!! It was a pleasure working with you. Don't be a stranger.
 3. According to Johnson's transfer paperwork, he did not move to HJ for athletic reasons, therefore he was allowed to play varsity ball the first year, unlike those at Yates (and sadly, even Silsbee) had to play JV ball their first year of transfer. It was deemed they moved for athletic reasons or had not established residency.
 4. The four players mentioned earlier by westend have already sat out their year and played varsity last season. Those are the players I was speaking about. I have no knowledge of any player on the Yates JV from last season.
 5.
I am not a person who worships Yates, but I am a realist.. After Yates gets those players from their JV up to Varsity, since they had to sit a year, added with the returners from last year, All I can say is that 3A is in serious trouble
Those players mentioned earlier have already sat out their year. They all played varsity last season.
 6. I think Silsbee will get first crack at Yates (cause I think Silsbee will win district, but will not be surprised if they didn't). I would look forward to that match up. Curious to see how the Tigers stack up against the Lions. I do know this, if Silsbee were to beat Yates (or if the game was close), Dove would come with a host of excuses like he did when Silsbee lost to 4A #1 Galveston Ball 84-82 a couple of years ago. Dove predicted Ball to win by over 20.
 7. Looking forward to not being there.
 8. ::) ::) Neither team will be running from Yates. I spoke with the coaches and some of the players for Silsbee, they welcome the challenge.
 9. I'm sorry, but there is never, ever a reason to press when up by 90.
 10.

Really? PM and we can play tomorrow
Yeah, sure.  Your record at following through on these matches is questionable.  If you are serious, you PM me and the match will be arranged and I will give you two to one odds.
I know where sleepy will be playing this Saturday. ;) I can arrange a match up for this Saturday morning.
 11.

If Silsbee stays healthy, I see them going on a very long winning streak! If somehow they get some size, I would put some good money that they give Yates a run for their money! Yates will win no doubt but it won't be a win mor than 12 points. Take that to the bank! I hate that if Silsbee wins district, they have to play Yates in the 3rd round somehwhere in Houston I bet. Id have that game played at Lamar, Lufkin, or Tyler JC just so the deve distance is fair!
Depends on how the brackets are drawn up too. May see them in the 3rd round, but may not see them until the Reguonal Finals. If Ozen had won their semi-final game this past year in the regional tourney, they would have faced them in the regional finals.
The brackets have already been established for the next two years. 21-3A district champ would play Yates in the 3rd round. (assuming Yates wins their district ;)) 21-3A runner up would not see Yates till the regional finals (assuming the same) 21-3A third place would play Yates in the 2nd round  (/\ /\) Now, let's please get back on topic (including myself). Top players returning for next season.
 12. I disagree with lumping tennis in with sports you don't have to be that fit to play. Tennis has the some of the most fit players of all sports. Those guys that play professional tennis are some of the fittest athletes on earth.
 13.
Dorian Chatman is a soph. in the Fall.
Correct. I'll edit the post.
 14.
Devante Johnson - previously played at Beaumont Central ::) Ratio 4:1 Houston is at least 4 times larger than Sour Lake I would call that one about EVEN!
At least 4 times larger than Sour Lake?? How about at least 400 times larger. I mean, Silsbee is almost twice the size of Sour Lake. Houston would be closer to 4,000 times larger than Sour Lake, not 4 times larger. The fact is that there is a higher percentage of kids that play basketball for Yates that come from other schools, more so than what Hardin-Jefferson has playing basketball. Now whether those kids were recruited illegally is what should be up for debate. But, Yates has not broken any rules, or at least hasn't yet been caught. ;) ;D

 16.
i'm talking about summer workouts.  Is a coach legally able to say there are a set amount of workouts a kid must attend during the summer in order to be able to play in the fall.  If so, are coaches allowed to be leading the workouts?
No and No.
