TAPPS 3-5A District playoff scenarios
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If Kelly ends up losing to St. Thomas and finishes the season with a 5 game losing streak, should we still rank them #2 in our SETX rankings? Sorry, couldn't resist. ;D -
HJ's enrollment has increased each of the last three years. They are not losing kids to Beaumont, kids are leaving Beaumont to come to HJ.
That's what I thought.
I honestly think its still a great rivalry in those respective communities, but AAW is right, it has been kind of one sided over the last few years. Playing the games at Ford Arena has DEFINITELY hurt the atmosphere of it though. They should get back to home and home, and perhaps it will pick up again next season.
Personally, I want them to keep it at Ford Arena.

Round 2 of Hardin County Havoc takes us back to Ford Arena in Beaumont as the SETX #2 Silsbee Tigers take on SETX #6 Hardin-Jefferson Hawks in a big 21-3A battle, TONIGHT, tip off at 7:30pm. Silsbee (23-7, 10-0) ranked #8 in 3A state polls, defeated Hamshire-Fannett Tuesday night, 101-58, to remain undefeated in district play. Hardin-Jefferson (30-3, 8-2) #15 in 3A state polls, took down Bridge City 70-32, to keep pace with WO-S for 2nd place and still give them a chance for a piece of the district title. Silsbee can wrap up the out right district championship with a win Friday or a win next Tuesday against WO-S. Silsbee defeated HJ 81-76 in the first game and has won 5 of last 6 and 9 of last 12 against the Hawks. Broadcast will start 10 minutes prior to tip which is scheduled for 7:30pm.
Narcissists have such an elevated sense of self-worth that they value themselves as inherently better than others. Yet, they have a fragile self-esteem and cannot handle criticism, and will often try to compensate for this inner fragility by belittling or disparaging others in an attempt to validate their own self-worth.
Is this SteveNash in disguise? ;) ;D
Ok. Call it what you want. I had two simple points. Silsbee has clearly been the better team over the last few years. Also, Silsbee continues to lose games in the playoffs they should win. That is it.
I agree with this statement 100%.

Probably referencing Silsbee's history of losing to teams they seemingly shouldn't lose to. ie Jasper, Sealy just recently.
I wouldn't necessarily say Silsbee "folded" but just got out played in those games.
They folded in the regional final last year. Surely you can admit that.
They lost a lead to the #1 team in state. Questionable call at the end. Just think the term "fold" is not appropriate. HJ lost a lead to this same team. Did they fold? I don't think so.
The reason there is not much talk on this board about Silsbee vs HJ is because most of the HJ fans were run off the board. Silsbee has definitely had the upper hand recently but they still continue to fold when it matters. Hopefully for them it is different this year.
Please explain the bold text.
LOL! I've always loved the 9 out of 12 games thing Why not just state the entire series record since they entered the same district instead of picking a certain point in the middle and going from there?
I can only guess that the reason the member posted about Silsbee winning 9 of last 12 against HJ was to maybe point out the recent trend in that Silsbee has obviously had the upper hand in the series and that may be a reason why the rivalry has lost some appeal. But to accommodate your request, here is the numbers on the series between the two teams since both joined 21-3A in the '06-'07 season: Silsbee HJ '07 1 2 '08 2 2 '09 2 1 '10 2 1 '11 2 0 '12 1 1 '13 1 0 Since both teams have been in same district, Silsbee currently leads the series 11-7. HJ has beaten Silsbee only 3 times in last 5 seasons to this point. That is the trend that I point out in the broadcast thread. IMO, that is significant in how this series has gone.
