  1. Point is we will never know. That's why you try not to speculate who would beat who when ranking these teams. Most of the voters believe Silsbee's resume speaks for itself. It was an easy move up to #1 when they were already #2 in every voters poll except two.(one had them #1, other had them #3)
  2. Here is a look at this rivalry by the numbers: This season points HJ Silsbee Season (20-6) (17-5) Points scored 69.5 83 Points allowed 50.5 63.6 Point margin +19 +19.4 District (5-0) (4-0) Points scored 84.4 92 Points allowed 42.6 34.5 Point margin +41.8 +57.5 Common opponents Beaumont Central 51-72 Loss 73-70 Win Orangefield 98-45 Win 96-36 Win Hamshire-Fannett 92-37 Win 111-29 Win Bridge City 76-37 Win 85-42 Win LC-M 53-35 Win 76-31 Win # of ranked opponents 4 10 Head to Head since 2006-07 season (season these two were put in same district) 2007 2 1 HJ outright district champion, Silsbee #2 2008 2 2 Co championship, HJ #1 seed 2009 1 2 Co Championship, Silsbee #1 seed 2010 1 2 Silsbee outright district champion, HJ #2 2011 0 2 Silsbee outright district champion, HJ #2 2012 1 1 Co Championship, HJ #1 seed 2013 0 2 Silsbee outright district champion, HJ #2 2014 0 2 Silsbee outright district champion, HJ #3 2015 1 1 Co Championship, Silsbee #1 seed total 8 wins 15 wins HJ: 1 outright, 4 Co, 2 #1 seed, Silsbee: 4 OR, 4 Co, 2 #1 Silsbee has won 13 of last 17 meetings (76%) and has won or shared district title for 8 consecutive seasons, never finishing lower than #2 in district for all 9 seasons.
  3. If you are going to question the rankings or a part of the rankings in open forum, then as a voter in these rankings, you should answer questions about your rankings. I believe I answered your question. Ozen was #1, Silsbee was #2, Ozen lost, Silsbee won. Pretty simple. Oh, and 8 of the 10 voters obviously agrees. Yes, most if not all the teams in the big school rankings would beat LC-M and Jasper. So what is the point? Who's to say Silsbee wouldn't beat Ozen? You know who they already beat this season.
  4. Perfect? Then explain why you have Humble and Kingwood Park ranked ahead of CE King the last two weeks when King has beaten them both in the last two weeks. Also, North Shore is undefeated in district and yet you have La Porte ranked ahead of them when LP has lost two games in district to West Brook and PA Memorial. Am I the only one that finds that to be a head scratcher?
  5. How did Silsbee leapfrog? They were already #2.
  6. How did Silsbee leapfrog? They were #2 last week. Just moved up one spot after Ozen loss. Kind of natural to me and it seems 8 other voters think the same way. In fact, one voter has had Silsbee #1 the last few weeks so that vote would not have changed.
  7. Rankings have been updated for Jan. 18, up top in pinned threads. Central and Ozen remain #6 and #7 in state 5A poll. Kingwood Park drops out of rankings. Silsbee back at #1 in 4A poll. Hardin-Jefferson remains #20, Hudson #21 Kountze drops from #2 to #6 in 3A with East Chambers moving up to #14. Central Heights in at #19, Pollock Central down to #20. Big Sandy still #1 in 2A, San Augustine up to #7. Silsbee back at #1 in SETXsports Big School rankings. Big Sandy still the unanimous #1 in Small School rankings.
  8. The people of Beaumont Tx.. smh
  9. Hate it myself. Not sure why the kids gave it that name.
  10. Then why say "I" got screwed instead of "we all" got screwed if you understood the rules?
  11. Silsbee scored 120 against PN-G earlier this season.

  13. Everyone did. In these pickems, like I stated from the beginning, all pushes are considered losses. So everyone got a loss in any game that was a push, regardless of what team you picked.
  14. Silsbee has not had a freshmen team since before the holidays because of grades. 2 play varsity, 4 play JV. The rest are ineligible (about 6). If any of those are passing, they will not be eligible till next Friday. This is why there will only be two games Tuesday.
  15. Newton 71, Hemphill 36 Garrison 39, Corrigan 26

  17. No Jasper basketball player was involved. Silsbee team was walking to bus after game and several Jasper football players jumped a few of the Tiger players, one sucker punching M. McCain in the eye. From what I was told it was a beef from football. Jasper kids were waiting outside for Silsbee team to come out. A couple of Jasper football players and 1 older fan were detained by law enforcement. The injury that will likely keep McCain out the remainder of season is a hand injury that he sustained defending himself in altercation. Looks like broken bone. Feel bad for Michael.

  19. Just to clear up some questions or statements. Silsbee beat LC-M by 3 last year at LC-M and then beat them by 38 at home. This year's game at Silsbee, Tigers led 43-26 at end of 3rd.Then out scored the Bears 33-5 in the 4th to win 76-31.

  21. Well, the last time a prediction of a 40 point win actually happened. Silsbee beat Jasper by 40 the last two seasons. It's been a long time since 2009. Jasper has that 1 single win and people want to hang on it. smh
