Let see the history of racism is as strong as the smell of the paper mill in Evadale.

Whites only After Dark sign that hung in the town until the late 90s.

Cross burning on the field after the Central football game

    The KKK Meetings held monthly

This is the reason I don't get on this board anymore....everyone is a political pundit and we can't just talk about high school football. Sir, I grew up in Vidor, Tx, am a lifelong resident and everything you have listed here is absolutely wrong.

    1. Whites only After Dark sign was taken down in the late 1960's; it was at a private business on Main Street. It was removed along with the Ku Klux Klan store that was there until 1975. That store stood at the intersection of Main and Old Highway 90. I know this because I bought a black friend of mine a T-shirt from there so he could wear it to school (Orange Stark HIgh). We ran track together.

    2. Cross was burned at halftime of the Vidor / PA Lincoln game also in 1974. We were leading 14 - 13 at halftime until the idiots (Klan) did this. Lincoln went on to win by 30 after that. I've attended nearly every Vidor home game since the early 70's and don't recall a cross being burned at a Central football game. I do remember both teams going to the center of the football field and praying together after each game.

    3. Due to heavy pressure from the FBI, the KKK was essentially gone from my hometown by 1980. Most of the leadership of the KKK relocated to Cleveland, TX. They were also the ones that marched in Vidor when the housing project was desegregated in 1992. This would be the march that Henry Cisneros was involved in.No monthly meetings but if I hear about one, I'll let you know.

    4. Black children have been attending Vidor schools since the late 1980's without much fanfare and not any incidents I'm aware of. If President Obama is black, then we have approximately 100 black children in Vidor schools now. But, since none of us Americans can claim a straight, pure racial heritage back to Noah, who knows what race of kids we have. We're all pretty well mongrels.

    5. We can't do anything about how much Evadale stinks.

    6. BLM marched in Vidor without incident, I know, I was there; I agree with the message in part. Funny thing is that you want to erase the Confederate history of the US but won't forget the history of my hometown. That's the problem with leftists, selective memory and revisionist history.

    7. If you truly feel badly about living in Bridge City, be somebody, move to Vidor!!!

  2. First, congrats to the NEWTON EAGLES for bringing another title back to SETX. My wife and I made a trip up to the panhandle a couple of years ago and I made it a point to pass through Canadian; I had seen them play football a couple of years in the state championship. I think the town was built around their stadium...excellent facilities. I've been told by their fans that they draw kids from all over the area, including Oklahoma, to play football there. Very well coached, quality program. I thought this game would be close for that reason. But, I also knew Newton was the real deal after I saw them handle Gilmer this year. Again congratulations to the Eagles and I wish I could have been there this year to see the repeat.

Just in-case you toothless honyockers forgot, Dayton still sucks.  Now that we cleared that up, BH 44 to make up for the Sonic upset 300 years ago.   RIP Liltex, that was for you buddy.

Amen to everything Smoking Baby. BTW, where the he11 were you at last year's Texas Fest on Travis?

That's a lie. The field was dry. PAM lost because of other things. Not because of field conditions.

That was one of the best games of football I have ever seen a Pirate team play. Period. Four out of five times Memorial beats us but not that night. A Jeff Mathews masterpiece.

  5. We've played Crosby three times in recent history...all in the playoffs. All three at neutral sites, all three in the playoffs, two were close games that could go either way. Disrespect us if you want but you're coming to a fired up Boneyard that LOVES to barbeque KITTIES! Vidor 28 - Cosby 24 in a good one! Parking is an issue but the west side of the stadium is usually reserved for the visiting fans. If not, there are big parking lots north side of the school with a short walk there.

I guess I have to disagree. But only because I am biased lol. Two names. Rick culprit. Graduated 04 went to Arkansas for track. Ran a 4.3 40. And Bolinger. I think he had atleast 7 60+ yard TD’s when playing for Vidor. Maybe even more. I think I would classify that as breakaway speed. I mean he gave Alex sezar a run for his money and that kid went to state for track and field. But I am a bit biased lol.

Would be nice to see one of those kids running collegiately. I guess I compare it to having a Devwah Whaley come through...would like to see a kid like that running in our offense. Nothing against our kids...y'all know how much I love 'em.

In not arguing . Im  just saying compared to humble, leckelt and Bollinger that we lack the speed , physicality and elusiveness at that position. The qb  does run hard but stands straight up before contact and looks to be in a position to get hurt by doing so and we need him. The Slot-T can be misleading when reading into  running stats. Its still early on in the season and I'm sure their game speed will improve.

The Pirate Defense and Offensive Line are really shining this year. Our special teams need work especially kicking which is usually a strength with us. Running backs are about as talented as they ever are...we never have break away speed. Gage is a good QB and manages the team well. We'll see in two weeks where we stand when we get Cosby then PNG but I like our chances vying for one of the playoff spots.

Coaching is the biggest strength we have. Jeff and his staff are doing an outstanding job putting out a team that competes even though we keep losing dozens of kids every year. I'm thinking we may be 4A by 2020. Call me Homer all day long but we're in the playoff mix every year which says volumes about them.

And I’ll have to disagree with you. Actually both of you. Neither team would have won 9 out of 10 games. PG was a great team and we did come out flat but even still if 3-4 plays have gone differently WO-S could have won that game.  PG was a better team that day but not much better.

I agree with this statement. I've been to the state championship with WOS the last four years in a row; Pleasant Grove was the better team last year but not by much. PG won fair and square and WOS represented SETX as champions the way they always do. Close game between WOS / Crosby but I think Cornell gets the Mustangs on course and they get the W 31-28.

I think LCM could be better at hindering the Vidor run offense due to the fact that a lot of teams in this area run the Slot T offense. Caney Creek and Montgomery are used to defending the spread attack.

Vidor O-line is the strength of the team. LCM won't be able to stop it.

Right.   Small bites instead one big one.   I think Nederland is figuring that out too, finally.   BTW,  When has Vidor football been at an elite status Rob?  :)

Look at our record over the last ten years Mr. Dog; I think between the two of us we were the last to be a district champion. Go bark about that.

Imo, many schools don’t have votes on bond issues soon enough.  As an example, a schools HS needs replacing - Have a bond issue for Xxx,000,000 amount of dollars.  But it appears they wait until an elementary needs replacing.  Then, let’s have a Bond Issue, and BTW, lets put a new stadium in there, and replace all our desk with Laz-Z-Boy recliners.  Now the Bond Issue is a whooping XXX,000,000 amount.  Voters vote it down.  Again, imo, voters are more apt to approve multiple smaller Bond Issues that one giant one.  It’s easier to eat an elephant over a period of time than try to eat the whole thing all at once.  And that’s a memo.

I get what all of you are saying but I disagree about a bond not passing. Several people I've talked to agree with the things I'm talking about. The bond for the new high school, and it was without a new stadium, failed because they held it on a Saturday morning as basically a stand alone and there were no other elections at that time. It needs better PR and to be held during a general election where there is a better turnout and I think it would have a better chance of passing. It's a pet peeve of mine and may be something I pursue. At the very least, the old Boneyard needs turf and it needs it now. Not playing our home games because of weather is not acceptable. Maybe I can get President Trump involved.....

  12. Since this is a football related topic I thought it appropriate to put it under this thread. I'm really tired of cancelling games, moving games to another stadium or even worse, playing games like the one we had against Barbers Hill two years in that cattle pen we call a football field. Last night was the perfect example of why we need a new BONEYARD! At the very least, we should have had turf five years ago. I'm hearing that a new high school is in the works at the site of the old Junior High; FEMA is footing most of the bill since those buildings went completely underwater. We should pass a bond to put a new football stadium right next to it on the interstate for everyone to see. Great communities center around their school system and Jeff Mathews has put our football team into the elite category of the area. Wouldn't it be nice for everyone driving through our community to see that? Wouldn't it be great for our kids and the winning attitude they now have. Every year they compete and we need to show we back them. Let's get this done, VIDOR!

Need to work on improving blocking next week in practice so those chop block penalties will never happen.

A lot of this is interpretation of what is a chop block and what is a cut block. We cut block a lot and if the officials haven't seen it, we get flagged for a chop. Chop is where one person is holding the defender and someone comes in and cuts him...for the layman. I rarely see us do that.
