1.
I wish my Trojans the best, but if #80 gets his hands on Gilbert, he'll rip'em apart and CS will be a 1 back back field the remainder of the game...
Right ;)
 2. He most definitely doesn't run a 4.69....He ran that with a sore/bad hammy...He didn't want to run at the combine but he was instructed to anyway....He might not be quite as fast as his brother yet but he's not far behind.... Coldspring has at least 3-4 other players that run 4.5's or a tad better and he's easily faster than any of them...
 3.
those boys wouldn't be racking up all those yard without the holes created by the O-line of CS.  Don't get me wrong; They are both good (for high school), but nothing special.  But then again, neither is Holland ;)
Yes the o-line plays a huge role in their success, however, to say they're nothing special is just wrong...They are both better than just good highschool players....Cummings runs with an aggression and power that belies someone of his statue/size...Alot of his yards have come after contact, breaking a tackle(s), or simply carrying tacklers downfield... Gilbert on the other hand is quite simply put a difference maker....What makes him special is his speed...If he gets the slightest crease or gets to the corner you can go ahead and put 6 on the board....I know for a fact that he's special because UT doesn't come and pull kids out of class (to talk to them) when they're sophomores if they're not.... Cummings lack of measurables and elite speed may very well preclude him from being anything other than a really special highschool player but you can rest assured that you'll hear alot more about Gilbert next year (his senior year) and the years to come... The fact that Gilbert's older brother is playing as a true freshman at Oklahoma State and had a huge kickoff return for a TD against OU a few weeks ago sure isn't going to hurt either....
 4.
I think those are the stats of what the boys have done in the playoffs only not the whole season.
No, if that was the case both would be averaging around 270 yds rushing per game in the playoffs...They've been really good but not that good...Now, I wouldn't be surprised if Gilbert is averaging around 200 yds per game...
 5.
Good article on Coldspring in Chronicle- [Hidden Content]
Nice article, however, the stats for both players are way, way off....Cummings has probably 1,100 more yds and 15 more td's than the article shows and Gilbert is probably less than 200 yds from having 2000 yds rushing for the season (that's with missing the first 3 games of the season due to injury)...His td total is also off... As a former mass communication student I'm always surprised when writers don't double check/verify their work, especially when it comes to figures, etc...Afterall they're putting their name on it and the piece is going to be around forever in some kind of format...It'd also be nice for the kids to be able to show their kids, grandkids, etc. a story on them with the correct info...Just my opinion...
 6.
OK, let me throw in my two cents on the Carthage offense vs. Coldspring defense, which I hear is pretty stout against the run. The beauty in watching Carhage's offense go to work is that you can see the "chess match" taking place on most every down, with the QB Morgan being given lots of rein to audible into whatever the defense is giving him. He has several options every time they break the huddle, and you'll see him check into something other than the primary play-call a large percentage of the time. It's a well-oiled and balanced machine, with excellent EXECUTION that comes from all of these same skill guys having worked together through last years Championshop as well as this year's run.
Good post and observation...You're right in saying it'll be chess match....Def. Cord. Morrison is very technical and sound in his defensive game planning and approach....Coldspring will be ready for the audibles, etc.  It'll just come down to execution or lack thereof...
 7.
Yes because CS best defensive back is Tevin Bryant(sp?) for sure think he is #2. Only 3 kids from SE Tx period makes me say wow period.
Taking nothing away from Bryant (because I think he's a really good player) calling him Coldsprings best db is debatable....Sykes lead the team in interceptions and the two safeties have done a really good job most of the year covering receivers and coming up and making tackles when needed... However, I guess most of these type of lists are open for debate when it comes right down to it....What one writer/voter might like about one player the next may not.... As is the case with most all star teams/lists there's always going to be someone who probably should've made it....There's not room for everyone...It's just the nature of the beast...
 8.

like i said before scooter you are clueless about football. you ate crow every game cs played like you will be eating it friday. You didn't answer my question from the other post. are u scared. U can't miss me i will be on the 50 yrd line closest to the ground and be the only one wearing my HPD uniform. Can't miss me. Lets see how much you know
LAME!!  If you are a HPD officer to come on here and invite someone to meet you like your picking a fight is childish.
He only gave him a quick way to find him AND said let's see how much he knew....He didn't say anything about meeting somewhere to throwdown... ;) Actually, the fact that he'll be in full uniform (in front of thousands of people & a TV audience) would probably preclude anything other than a nice give and take session regarding football...
 9.
Hmmmmm. You can double one. . But when its 3 on the field at once.   Ummmmmmm this is goin to be funny
So exactly how many are there?  2 as you first said or now 3?  Carthage seems to be gaining tall D1 receivers by the post...
 10.
I don't see how you can hand out crow scooter since you have been eating crow all playoffs
Exactly...Maybe he's got leftovers?
 11.
Scooter u completely missed my point, but that is to be expected when u pick teams to lose and u have not seen them play.  I have seen Carthage play and know they are good.  I just think we match up with them and can beat them.  About Monahans I'm sure they are good just didn't impress me with size or athletic ability.  With that said say what u want about my comments.  Make fun of me, but I have been around football awhile and have coached at the high school level.  What's ur background?
Bingo!! ;)
 12. ::) Some of you guys are comical....I'd say you know who you are but I'm afraid you don't...
 13.

I have a question for Scooter.  Have you even seen Coldspring play this year?  You live in West Texas so I don't know if you have seen them play.  I watched the first half film of Brownwood and Monahans and I was not impresses at all.  Monahans really did not have much with the exception of the running back ran hard and the quarterback was ok.  They had no secondary.  The offensive line had to be one of the smallest I have seen.  I would like to see some of the recent game against Carthage so I can make a better judgement.  I still believe deep down we can beat Carthage.
I've seen Carthage play, and thats all i need to see to predict this one. The biggest O-line Brownwood had seen this year. Um, Monahans was 13-0 for a reason so i dont know what game you actually saw.
So you haven't see Coldspring play in person or on film but your sure Carthage is the better team?...Hmm, Ok...Weren't you also one of the main posters on this board who scoffed at the very idea of another team being able to hang with and beat Brownwood??  Now that Brownwood is gone you've jumped on the Carthage bandwagon...At least your going with a team that's actually won something recently....Carthage has proven they can win a title when they're wearing the bullseye so I can't argue with anyone picking them, however, to just dismiss another team without knowing much about them/seeing them play, etc. is kind of foolish...
 14. Don't know anything about the kid other than reading a little bit of the article...I will say that the QB/DE combo is not something you see very often...He must be a really talented player to have the skill to perform under center and the speed, strength, and tenacity to play DE...
 15. Just got home about an hour ago...Great game if you're a Coldspring fan or player...I have to honestly say that I really wasn't impressed with Wimberley...I thought Coldspring would win but I really expected them to put up a better fight...They for all intensive purposes were throttled...They really couldn't get anything going on offense and couldn't stop the run...
 16. These prediction threads all seem to be the same...Everyone picks against the Trojans and all they do is go out and take care of business...The fact that many think that Carthage will just walk all over Coldspring and/or Coldspring has no chance is comical.... Until a top RB actually has a above average day against the Trojan defense I'm going to have to give Coldspring the benefit of the doubt... If I were a Bulldog fan I'd be more concerned with stopping Coldsprings running game....The combo of Cummings/Gilbert have not lost a game this year...The only loss was week zero and Gilbert was not playing...He's a difference maker pure and simple...As previously mentioned, Coldspring has shut down every big time back/great running game they've faced... BTW, I thought Carthage would beat Brownwood...I said on another thread earlier in the week that the Brownwood love fest was getting out of hand and beating the reigning 2 time state champs wasn't a forgone conclusion as many seemed to think... I have much, much respect for Carthage and what they've accomplished the last few years...I think it'll be a great game...
 17. Just got back from the game and I'd say without a doubt Kirbyville had a better team than Wimberley....I wasn't impressed with Wimberley and as I've stated prior I was with Kirbyville...
 18.
MEM getting a little big headed huh? Geez give kids from other skewls some credit and dont sound like Barbers Hill. Geez how about some humility kid.
Please show me something I said that was big headed...You might need to go back and re-read the entire thread...Reading comprehension is your friend... ;)  I gave credit where credit is due...I never said there weren't other good players that could play for Coldspring...I just have a slight problem with people throwing names out there of players from 1 win teams that weren't clearly better than Coldspring players...
 19.
well they would start for sure and all the people i named would play somewhere on their team it dont have to be the position they play at their current schools now, but lewis or reed is gonna get defensive mvp i think they would have my vote. i would go with lewis though cause he played with emotion he was cocky and he back his talk up
To say that all of the others would start for sure really discounts and underestimates the players who are strapping it on and beating those players game in and game out...Coldspring didn't have the season they did by not having just as good or better players at most positions...Sure the players you named could possibly start but you can't say they would for sure...They'd have to prove they're better in practice, etc. than the current Coldspring players...Talent alone doesn't make a good player, buying into the coaching, attitude, commitment, etc. is just as important... Lewis is good and the only game I saw him play this year (against Coldspring) I thought he was really good, however, he was talking way too much smack for someone whose team was getting absolutely hammered....I tend to prefer players that let their game speak for them (most of time)...I'm not saying there's not a time and place for a little talk and emotion but maybe tone it down a little when your team is getting blown out..I've never understood any player who brings undue attention to themselves when they make an outstanding play when they're getting beat by 3-4 td's...It's kind of embarrassing but maybe that's just me...
 20.

My vote goes to Coldspring!!! They are hungry..never made it this far in the playoffs and deserve a shot at the state title. GO Coldspring!! The whole 22-3A district is rooting for you!
You sure?  I thought they had made it this far back in the 90's.  WOS87???
You're correct they did....I believe 92 & 96....Lost to Southlake Carroll in finals....
 21.

Smith is the best HS RB I've ever seen, and I'm not young. Even rusty, he adds a lot into the equation.
He's either an all time great or someone hasn't seen alot of top level high school running backs...I'm leaning towards the latter...Not saying he's not a difference maker but the best you've ever seen?  That's saying alot.....
Apparently he's good enough for A&M. ]
Ford from Kirbyville also supposedly has a offer from A&M....I'm sure he's a good back but Coldsprings backs don't take a backseat to any back in 3A in terms of production and impact on a game...
 22. I'd think A&M or Baylor would be the obvious choices if he wants to play in a BCS conference, however, he's got to decide what best for him.... Good to see he has some good offers to chose from...
 23.
yeah coolwater is doin good in the playoffs althogh it was a close one against kirbyville... goodjob and they found a way to pull out the win vs athens they defense finally won them a game but as far as all district goes playoffs dont matter, because reed(cleveland) would start on any team in the district so would lewis(shepherd) shaw(shepherd) ross twins(cleveland) courvelle boys (shepherd) whittleman(shepherd) edwards(liberty) derberry and the wideouts from huffman, its plenty of guys that would start on the coldsprings playoff team right now hands down those were just a few, addison from splendora and couistimi (tarkington)
Reed & Lewis would start....Shaw starting over Cummings or Gilbert?  Probably not...Coldsprings leading rusher from last year (Tevin Bryant) didn't even get many carries this year and he's as capable as Shaw...Shaw might be a little faster but Bryant is a really good back that just got used on defense primarily after Cummings moved back...Ross twins yes, however, one didn't even play this year due to injury so he's probably not on this years team.... Courvelle boys...who knows?  Coldsprings current oline and dline seem to be getting the job done...Whittleman is a good athlete but Coldspring has quite a few players of his ability....The rest mentioned are good players but when Coldspring is beating these other players and their teams by wide margins it's hard to make a case for them getting the nod over the Coldspring players...
 24.
What there is in Dayton is a 5'6 gunslinger that knows this offense and has lead this team to 7 playoff games in the last 2 years.
Wow, that's a small QB for a program as good as Dayton....He must have all the other needed skills and tangibles...
 25. I'll also just add that I was alot more impressed with Kirbyville in the game that they lost to Coldspring than the game in which they won in week zero...I was at both and I wasn't overly impressed with them in the first game, however, the second time around they looked and acted the part...Coldspring won but I definitely left impressed with their overall size, speed, strength, etc... It was easy for me to see why so many had them coming out of that side of the bracket to play in the finals
