1. Tullos did a nice job at Cleveland while he was there...Never fully understood the chain of events that lead to his being reassigned and him eventually resigning... All I know is Cleveland was pathetic last year without him and I've heard nothing but positive things about the way he worked with and mentored his players... I'm somewhat surprised he hasn't landed another decent job yet...I think I remember him being the replacement in New Waverly last summer but he'd just signed on with Livingston and the AD there wouldn't let him out of his contract...
 2.
Select baseball is not for everyone. With that being said the problem with some or most High School baseball teams is that the Head Coach on the Baseball field is not the that good of a baseball coach. Most AD's hire coaches for Football first and then baseball gets the left-overs that can coach that sport too (mostly in small towns) That is why you see so many kids keep playing select baseaball. The only way for those kids to get good coaching is to go out and pay for it at the private level.
Well said...I've noticed the same...Especially after moving from a 5A program (that won a state championship in baseball a few years ago) to a small 3A school 4-5 years ago...
 3. Friday nights 10pm game was the last game of the tourney...It's my understanding that Huntington was undefeated in the tourney but ran out of pitching so elected to not play any more games...The powers that be, gave them first place and let them go home, leaving Coldspring & Woodville to play the 10pm game... Coldspring defeated Woodville 5-0....
 4. Coldspring jumped out to a 3-0 lead....Livingston scored late to tie it up...Coldspring scored twice in top of 8th to take a 5-3 lead... Livingston scored once in the bottom of the 8th to pull within 1 before Coldspring turned a 6-4-3 double play to end the game... Final: Coldspring 5 Livingston 4
 5.
Orangefield beats Coldsprings 3-2 great pitching from Quinton Evans 7 innings 3 hits 3 k's.  Austin Scales led the way at the plate with a double and single. Do not know the name of Coldsprings pitcher but he pitched a great game also 7 innings 3 hits 4 k's.  The difference in the game was the Bobcats using the sacrifice to get runs in.
Coldspring pitcher was Matthew Stephens
 6. Lumberton comes from behind (down 3-2) to beat Coldspring 4-3... Final: Lumberton 4  Coldspring 3
 7. He's the real deal...He absolutely gave Coldspring fits last year...He was elusive, fast, and hard to tackle (even when defenders got their hands on him)...It'd look like he was getting ready to be tackled and then he'd find a way out with some crazy, sick move or break several tackles... Personally, I think he was the best pure athlete/player Coldspring faced last year in their run to the state championship game....He's definitely not the type of player a coach wants to face early in the year while the D is trying to get the kinks worked out...lol Coldspring never really stopped him for long...They outscored him...It was a wild, wild game...
 8.
I dont know if this was because of the time taken to make the decision has caused most schools to look elsewhere or if it was just a case of poor decision making.  SFA was in from the start,  Alabama, Texas A&M, and other largers schools began to make verbal offers and started to show intrest.  The decision was made to wait and see what other more popular schools jumped on board  (like TEXAS). In the end there was only two letters (Lamar and SFA).
If he really wanted to go to a FBS school then he should've taken one of the offers from Alabama or A&M...He then would've had that in his back pocket and could've easily switched to another school (like TEXAS) if and when they decided to offer.... However it ultimately played out he's still going to get to play ball for another 4-5 years and get a free education in the process.... Good luck to the kid in the future...
Congrads but question Tfan. What happen to Dennis Scottt? He ever end up at Tech?
I believe you're asking about James Scott...Didn't qualify and ended up going to Kilgore (Jr.) College....Don't think he lasted more than a year there...Last time I saw him (a couple of months ago) he was living back in Coldspring...
 11.
Well guess what fellows, I know for sure, he's my son, we had Coach Tuberville and Coach Moore at the house for dinner last night and I'm telling you its a done deal.
But what about Trigger?  Trigger has spoken...Surely you're mistaken....I mean what could you possibly know about the situation?  Your only the kids father!  :D
 12.
nothing indicates he has signed his letter of intent, yet...
Shocked that someone who purports to know so much about football and players skills or lack thereof wouldn't know the rules pertaining to committing and signing.... How can anyone who follows high school or college football semi closely not know that no one is allowed to sign a letter of intent (LOI) until signing day?  Or not know that signing day isn't until the first week of Feb?  (Actually it's the first wed of each February) Other than telling family, friends, and coaches of his intentions there isn't anything else he or any other high school prospect can do until signing day...
 13.
Coach Morgan might prove himself to be the better coach of all the other apps but in my opinion as of this moment they didnt hire the "best" Coach available.
And who in your mind would that have been? I have no ties/dog in this fight...Just curious...
 14. Does anyone know if they're available through the UIL or somewhere else?...They weren't selling them at the gate I entered for the first game Friday afternoon...I saw one guy selling them in the stands but wasn't able to get up to him before he disappeared...By the time the first game was over the 2nd game was getting ready to start and it was mass chaos trying to get anywhere with everyone trying to leave and the other schools fans trying get the best seats... If anyone has an extra game program from Jerry's World for the weekend of the 17th - (Carthage/Coldspring & LaMarque/Aledo were the friday games) I would be happy to pay for the program as well as any shipping/handling costs...
 15.
Can someone explain to me why a 29 year old coordinator who has never been a head coach has been hired over succesful guys like Alvarez and Valastro?
I thought the Carthage QB was his son...If so how could he be 29?  Don't know much about the Morgans other than one about 5-8, 165lbs lit up my sons team about a month ago in Arlington....
 16.
Gilbert played like the little brother of a great player.  Willie Gault was special too, but it takes more than speed to be a running back.  IF gilbert "jr." makes it to the next level, he won't be in anybody's backfield. He's special teams or DB material.  The kid has no power or fight to survive in the backfield.  Heck, compare him to the kid from Pearland and they are polar opposites.  Cummings was the better back! My fondest  ::)memory of Gilbert was towards the end of the game when Kendall Thomas tackled him as they tried to run Gilbert up the middle...Gilbert went limp as Thomas just wrapped his arms around him...Now that was special :o  :-*
I don't think anyone who knows much about football projects Gilbert to play in anyone's backfield at the next level....He'll be a receiver or DB...There are tons of really good highschool backs who end up playing a different position in college...It takes a really special skill set to play the RB position at the next level...BTW, I don't think he really enjoys playing RB now, however, that's what he's being asked to due to his outstanding speed and he's doing the best he can to help his team.... On a side note, I don't know why you say you are a Coldspring fan and/or root for them and then get on a forum like this and make fun of a kid who is doing their best...If your fondest memory of a Coldspring player was something other than them experiencing success you've got some issues as a fan... For example,  I am a fan of Coldspring and I took no joy or carry any fond memory of any Coldspring player coming up short of fulfilling one of their life long dreams....How you can do so while claiming to be a fan is beyond me...
 17.
Did Gilbert end up with 2,000 yards for the season?  I wonder how many times 2 backs have done that on the same team.
I think Gilbert passed 2,000 and Cummings 2,500 for the season in the game against Carthage....
 18.
One location is ridiculous. Case in point. Last week, Henderson and Tyler Chapel Hill played for the state title of Class 3A DI. Instead of playing at Tyler Rose Stadium, which is only about a 20 minute drive for Henderson fans, in town for CH, both teams must travel over 2 hours to Arlington for the game. I think it's wrong that the UIL has taken the control for playoff site's out of the coaches hands.
Apparently the Henderson coach doesn't share the same sentiments....He stated that he liked the location and the ability for more fans to attend the game...
 19.
no one will ever be happy
Very true...Can't make everyone happy no matter what the decision is...I for one thought that the atmosphere and venue for this past weekends games was awesome.... I agree that it "adds" to the mystique of the championship experience for player and fans....I especially like the fact that my son had the opportunity to play a game of this magnitude in one of the best stadiums in all of sports...It's a experience that he'll never ever forget.... I certainly don't have a problem driving a extra hour or two for the experience....I understand the coaches concerns over distance, perceived lack of control, etc., however, I think the positives outweight the negative....
 20. Getting ready to head to the game...Safe travels to each and every one of you who are traveling to games this weekend...May the best team(s) win... We'll have a answer to all the questions by the end of today!
 21.
So you are basically trying to tell us he would have been the fastest kid on the entire list...right, sure
If you came to that conclusion (from something I posted) you have reading comprehension issues...I referenced no list...
