Ah so my statement earlier was correct. You are the Vidor of 21-6a. Looking for a rival wherever you can find one.

Bigdog got a reaction from Bobcat1 in unemployment
Me too, in January but I bailed in December before the position was gone . Got a good job (luckily without a pay cut) now that I am happy with, because I am not going to sit on a line with my hand out!

Bigdog reacted to tvc184 in unemployment
It has been said that starvation is a strong motivator.
I believe that is a very true statement. There has to be some motivation for people to do almost anything. When a person has a place to stay and has food in his stomach, he is less likely in my opinion to go the extra mile to find a job or other means of support. It is much easier to sit back when someone else is paying the bill.
The only point of this article was that the ending of many benefits motivated many more people to start working, maybe at lesser jobs than they left or would have taken if available. If you are not eating or have no roof over your head, how much will you struggle to make ends meet as opposed to having that means brought to your door free of effort or obligation?
The single time that Obama is mentioned in the article (and Democrats not at all) is that he it touting the decrease in the unemployment rate. The article said that no matter your politics, that is a good thing. It points out that it is possible that part of that decrease in unemployment is due to the ending of benefits.
I see that as nothing to do with Obama or politics except making a single point that unemployment benefits may tend to slow recovery rather than speed it up.
It poses this statement, "It’s worth wondering why".
The article appears to be me to be a statement of facts, that unemployment went down after some benefits ended and pondered whether the two are linked. I can't see that as inflammatory or very political and mainly states that it is a valid topic for debate. It certainly wasn't some hammering of Obama who is only mentioned once and the article agreed with him that it is good that unemployment went down no matter which party you support.

Not really, you got tuned up at a score of 56-26 last year when they ran through the whole region and semi's with an overall score of 285-47 until they ran into Cedar Hill. If you are going to make noise in that region, you better get used to their type of talent fast and use it as a measuring stick. We have played several teams in non-district that we could or did meet up with in the playoffs, it provides a tool to see where you are and where you should improve if you are going to get deep in the playoffs.

That causes a steep learning curve, but the upside is having those kids for 3 years on varsity.

And we don't play those schools in our district. Shouldn't PA be worried about them , since we are just the lowly 5A Bulldogs? Especially since you haven't beat NS in a while and haven't brought home a DC outright yet?
You are:
2-4 vs NS
1-6 vs LP
0-1 vs Manvel.

You are in a 6a district, and the only other team near this area is in your district. And do you want to bring up Neumann's record vs TJ and Lincoln? Nope. You still haven't answered the question, why is it so important to "some" PA posters that you play Nederland? Do you have something to prove? Is there some hole in the soul of the team because they don't play MC teams?? Or is it that you "perceive" that you are losing talent to the MC teams and it hurts your feelings?

The Northridge , CA bank robbery. Yeah, the cops were outgunned and had to break into a gun shop to get heavy enough rifles to stop the robbers. The bad guys had full body armor and AK-47s.

Bigdog got a reaction from TxHoops in What it means to be free
OK, I can't sleep because this is bothering me. I want everyone to think about what it means to be free. Free to express your opinions without retribution. Free to engage in petty arguments accusing someone of being a Democrat or Republican or a Liberal or Conservative or anything else. Because many people in the world do not have that freedom, and are treated to sub-human conditions if they are even suspected of not towing the line that some ego-maniac psychopathic dictator is spouting.
Because this stuff is happening NOW, not in the dark ages, not 70 years ago but NOW. Please read these and think about this when engaging people on this board or anywhere else. Because there is alot happening in the world that is way bigger than our individual differences in opinion or thought. But at least we are free to express them.
