Raiders94 reacted to CardinalBacker in NEW UIL FOOTBALL DISTRICTS
Well, for starters there aren't any black kids in the district, other than the ones in Livingston.
Seriously. Whose bright idea was this?

Gonna get some getting used to, but I remember playing teams like this back in the day when 5a was the highest classification and Central and West Brook was in the same district.

Raiders94 reacted to Alpha Wolf in Lumberton Raiders
Hey I'm expecting the L-Train to get rolling now that they are dropping down to 4A. Show everyone how much fun it is going from one of the smallest in district to being one of the biggest in the district. The only time I'll say it's ok for you all to be a bully...

Me personally, I think it's something else. As a father of 7, 6 that are involved in extracurricular activities, I think this generation is full of quitters created by their parents. What do I mean by that? For example, I'll use my oldest child. Junior in high school currently at Central who plays football and runs track. He didn't do this but what if when he was playing with the Bulls and they were just getting started with their workouts in July/August in the dead heat of summer, he came home one day from practice and said he quit, he doesn't want to play football anymore? It's too hot, they are making us run too much or he doesn't like the contact that comes with football. Or if when he started running the hurdles in 7th grade, he wanted to quit because the hurdles hurt too much if you miss time one and all of the conditioning that goes into track. If I would have let him quit, he wouldn't have the opportunity to start at WR for the "new noname" high school in 2018. He wouldn't have made it to Regionals in the 300 M Hurdles as a Sophomore and have paperwork coming in saying that colleges coaches are taking note. A lot of these parents now a days would go turn in their kids equipment for them and say to the coach that my child doesn't want to play or run anymore. Not at my house. We are going to sit down and have a discussion about why he wants to quit. I would hear him out, listen. But then I would interject and finish the conversation with "We don't quit anything during the season. You will finish the season, then we will have this discussion again once the season is over with and see if you feel the same way." If at that time, he still felt the same way, then I would let him quit.
Quitting is what's wrong with this society, especially in Beaumont. When these same kids get older, become adults and get a job or married and the going gets tough or they are faced with adversity, they quit the job or wind up getting a divorce. They don't know how to persevere, adapt and overcome. Just some of my thoughts...

Raiders94 reacted to CardinalBacker in Golden Triangle Running scared from Newton
While most of us recognize the value of choosing to play a good program like Newton in the buildup to district play, not everybody feels that way.
If you are a coach with big aspirations of moving on in your coaching career, it’s hard to do much with a bad winning percentage. Locking yourself into 2-3 guaranteed Ls each year isn’t a good way to get a better paying gig.
Plus, a big school playing Newton is kinda like picking a fight in a gay bar. You can’t brag if you win, but you’d better not lose.

Raiders94 reacted to Lions Pride 2021 in BISD Votes to Merge Central and Ozen beginning in 2018-19
This is sad for the kids and alums of both schools. As for the BOM making the decision, the last set of elected board were running the district in the ground. This time there's no South Park ISD to save BISD like there was in the 80s.
I think the BOM has for the most part done a good job of righting the ship. And while I think the community should get its district back please don't re elect the people that put you in this spot in first place. I saw a few of the old suspects won election after being kicked to the curb.
Had the old board done their job BISD may have been able to fix or build a new central. Instead the taxpayers and children were robbed.

Raiders94 reacted to REALLY!!! in Powerlifting Judges
The PL Judges at Sweeny last year were the same ones used at Palacios for the past several years . They are normally very bad and do not read the rule book as written. They call a toe moving inside the shoe which is not the way the rule is written. I am a certified PL judge now and work with a group that judge in the Golden Triangle area and we try to call by the book . We start this early so lifters know what to expect at regionals or state . I had a daughter that bombed twice in Palacios because of bad judging and this is why I started so hopefully it will not happen on my platform.

Raiders94 reacted to itsallabouttheH in What is your favorite memory of the 2017 season
My best memory of this year and what will always stick out in my mind? How the kids, coaches, families, and communities dealt with and helped in the recovery of Hurricane Harvey. It was impressive to see how neighbors helped neighbors, strangers helped strangers and teams helped teams. Many of our players will remember this and hopefully carry this with them forever, so proud.

Thank You Griff, you said everything I wanted to say and more. WOS Mustangs you guys are my hero, because no one expected you to be in the State Championship game except a few of us faithful. You are achievers no matter what the score showed last night. Get Ready for next year because I know tradition and pursuit with never die.

Great season Mustangs! Nothing to hang your head about. Can’t and will not win them all.
If you ask me, taking a team with 2 returning starters to the state title game is great coaching, and a testament to Coach T and the staff. Not many people picked them to be this far, and not many coaches could have done the job he did.
This Mustang team wasn’t gonna beat Pleasant Grove today if Tom Landry was coaching them. Too small!

Raiders94 reacted to Hagar in Texarkana Pleasant Grove 41 West Orange-Stark 21/FINAL
I don't think I'm alone in suspecting WOS may not win today. Has nothing to do with the coaching staff, which I confidently say is one of the best in the state. Nor with the team, which were overachievers. But for a school WOS size to lose so many starters and win another SC, was a tough row to hoe. And that being said, everyone that was backing this Mustang team, should be exceptionally proud of them. They exceeded all the experts projections. They did more with heart than most schools can do with talent. Jmo
And for our lone Hawk poster, congrats to them on winning that first SC. Great coach there also. They were truly impressive.

Actually, it is dead when it hits the ground in the end zone, not when it crosses the goal line in the air and is caught.
Congrats to the Mustangs on a great run, it hardly means your Dynasty is over, nor that we are one now.
But, for now, until the next Season, we have beat the Man to be The Man.
I, as many fans were, was nervous in the latter parts, when the only real weakness PG has shown was exploited for some Passing gains.
It really appeared like the game was switching Mo, and WOS was going to show what Champions do. They made it a great game.
However, for this year, I think respect and recognition goes to the Hawks. We expect that WOS fans are going to be Homers for their boys, just as we are. We all just love our own schools and football.
Many of us, if we were in the same school would be great buds with that in common. For me, after the game, there is no animosity or rancor. Win or lose, It is good that as far as I could tell, nobody got hurt, and I hope we all get home safely.

Congratulations to the WOS Mustangs on a great year and a great run. I would love for my football team to make just one state championship...you've been to four in a row. Unfortunately, I think the Mustangs just ran into a better team tonight. Pleasant Grove impressed me with how hard they played on both sides of the ball. Great game!!!

One more day until the game. Go STANGS!!! One game at a time. Great job by the Coaching staff all year long and the players. Proud of the Mustangs and all the fans for their support. Temp for kickoff should be around low 50's to high 40's.

This will be good for Lumberton. Even if they don't win or even finish 2nd it will be a huge morale boost to know that the kids will be competitive in every game. I hope that the kids get the chance to play in a nice stadium as a playoff venue.

Don’t think either made first team. But I feel the same about Lumberton’s rb Ward, hopefully both these players will make second team.
