1. Wednesday Tidbit!! So far Montgomery has been slow starters generally but usually get going by 2nd or 3rd quarter. If it is a close game at the half, I think Montgomery wins. If Brenham gets ahead quick, it might be hard to come from a ways behind. I think the Bears defense will be in rhythm in the second half. I see Brenham scoring the majority of their points early, but wouldn't be surprised it they score 7 or less in the whole second half. I see the exact opposite for Motgomery. The Bear run game eventually wears down the opponent and that opens up one on one situations for Bell, Howard, and Phillips. It takes a little bit for the offense to get going, but is hard to stop when it's rolling.
2. When comparing Brenham and Montgomery, I usually leave out West and Waller because West always plays Montgomery tough as Waller does with Brenham. As for the 28-10 prediction, I don't see a lead that big especially considering the last 5 years were decided by 7 or less. One wild card however, is that Brenham is usually Montgomery's toughest game all year. This year it's their 3rd toughest game. The fact that the Bears have seen this level of competition before might be an advantage this year.

5. For the record, A&M never really went after him. He wasn't even offered. Aggie coaches liked our CB commits better than him at CB, and liked our WR commits better than him at WR. Heck of an athlete, but his position is a question. So this isn't an A&M vs tu thing. Just saying.
6. Detailed Analysis: Matchup to watch: Montgomery Run O vs Brenham Run D It is probably safe to say that Brenham will get a steady dose of Linton and Allen on Friday night. The Cubs run defense has been stout, but they haven't played against a run game this strong yet. Montgomery had success earlier running against Angleton and Dawson, so we'll see how they fare against Brenham. Players to Watch: Brenham DB Darrion Johnson One of the best athletes in the state who will hurt you on defense, offense, and special teams. It should be interesting to see how Brenham utilizes him on defense trying to stop Bodhi Bell and Ken'Dre Howard. Dangerous return man. Montgomery DB Herbert House House is an undersized but HARD-hitting safety who is the key to Montgomery's defense. He steps up in the box to tackle and is sound in coverage. He returned a kickoff 99 yds for a TD last week and will occasionally see snaps at WR on offense. Wild Card: Montgomery Pass O The passing game has shown flashes of greatness but has been quiet the past couple weeks. Bodhi Bell will get the attention which might open up Howard a bit. TE Christian Kindred scored 2 TDs against Huntsville and might sneak up on Brenham if they're not careful. Prediction: In the past, Montgomery had 1 or 2 main weapons that Brenham keyed on with their superior athletes. However, this year Brenham doesn't have the same overall talent, and Montgomery has less stars, but more options. Montgomery's D and Brenham's O aren't spectacular, but they're solid and will matchup pretty evenly. Brenham's O will score a couple as usual, but the key to the game is the Bears offense vs the Cubs defense. Brenham's defense is very good, but I don't think they have the talent across the board this year to quite defend all of the weapons Montgomery has. Cubs fall just short in dramatic fashion. Montgomery 21 Brenham 17.
7. Prediction:Montgomery 21 Brenham 17. I'll leave it at that for now, and I'll go into much deeper analysis at a later day. It's about to get real folks. It's Montgomery-Brenham Week!
8. Really excited about his potential. He has great raw athleticism, and if it doesn't work out at CB, there is always room for speed on the offense.
9. Well last year's team came off a loss to West and used Waller as a statement game heading into the Brenham game. I see the same type of scenario this week. Bears didn't play well last week, and they'll use Waller as a bounce back statement game to show they're still a strong team.
10. 1. Brenham- Cubs had a bye week, but Montgomery's struggles with West breaks the tie and moves Brenham to first since they handled West. They should easily beat Willis this week. 2. Montgomery- The Bears won a hard fought close game with West that was closer than it should have been, but West always plays Montgomery tough so it's not too surprising. It was good to see the team had resiliency and is able to close out close games. 3. Huntsville- Hornets have shown nothing to warrant them moving down because they are beating the teams they should be beating. The game against West should determine #3. 4. Magnolia West- The Mustangs aren't dead yet. They're a scrappy team who played above their talent level. They have an attitude about them. (Personally I think West as a school/fan base as a whole is extremely cocky however unwarranted that may be. Not just football either. They talk a lot of trash.) 5. Willis- The Wildkats won by stopping a 2 point conversion at the end of the game which allows them to pass Waller on the rankings, but this also pretty much solidifies the top 4. 6. Waller- The Bulldogs went for the win and came up just short which really hurts their playoff chances. They get the Bears at home this week. 7. Bryan Rudder- Rudder holds their spot at the top of the basement with a win over Caney Creek. 8. Magnolia- The Bulldogs best shot at a district win seems to be Caney Creek. 9. Caney Creek- The same can be said as Magnolia just vice versa.
11. Herbert is the best player on defense and probably the whole team. He is Tevin House(the RB who got suspended last year)'s little brother.
12. Some bad blood is starting to come out... We may have a rivalry brewing here.
13. Well last year a lot of the players went to the Brenham-West game and watched Brenham thrash them then the next day Montgomery beat down Stratford and a handful of the more talented players got cocky and slacked off that week in practice. All of that combined with West knowing all our offensive and defensive plays because Coach Bell played under Bolfing and one of Montgomery's former defensive coaches had moved to West. With 2 new coordinators that shouldn't be a issue anymore, especially since we're aware that they audible off our calls now. Anyways, last year's loss helped Montgomery because it focused and disciplined them. Bolfing brought down the hammer after that game. It straightened out a team that was relying on talent alone to win games. This year's team doesn't have the bad attitudes. They know they don't have as much talent and they know they have to work for it. That's why I don't see a slip up this year.
14. I know some of the SETX posters saw Mag West in a scrimmage and said they were small and slow. I guess we'll see how true that is tomorrow.
15. Mustangs come to Bear Stadium for Montgomery's Homecoming Game. The Bears look to avenge last year's upset loss. The Bear offense will be led by Seniors RB Dedrick Linton, WR Bodhi Bell, RB/WR Jimmy Dominick and Sophomores QB Josh Bolfing, RB Paul Allen, and WR Ken'Dre Howard. Defense is senior laden with S Herbert House, LB Alex Markos, and NG Jaylin Hemphill-Poplar. I think the game starts off close, but the Bears pull away in the second half by wearing down West with doses of Linton, Allen, and Dominick. The Defense will give up a couple big plays but will shut down most of the time. Montgomery 35 Magnolia West 17
16. BF, well one of my friends has a class that was later than I thought, so we're going to be cutting it close on getting to the game on time, so I don't think we're going to be able to make it in time to go to dinner  :-[
17. Alright, well a couple friends of mine and I can go and eat with you before the game. Cruisin J's is in town and their food is alright. There's not a whole lot of options around town. I warn you though, we're not as old as a lot of the posters on here.  8)
18. I'm eating dinner with a friend here in College Station before we head to the game and head back for Midnight Yell, but I'll see if we could just go eat in Montgomery with you instead. I'll let you know.

You should go to the Montgomery-Mag West game this week. I'd suggest sitting on the visitor side because the home stands will be over flowing because of homecoming. It gets ridiculously crowded for homecoming games in Montgomery.
A crowd doesn't bother me.  I'll be in my Brenham gear, in a sea of purple.  I'll just get there early to make sure I get a good seat.
Brave Soul...

21. Montgomery has two tests against Mag West and Waller before Brenham, but of course I still think Oct. 12 will determine the winner.
22. 1a) Montgomery- The Bears took care of business against Caney Creek and showed off their multitude of offensive weapons. Bodhi and Ken'Dre form a good WR duo to compliment the two headed RB Monster of Dedrick and Paul. Jimmy plays a De'Anthony Thomas type position where he gets a few touches at both RB and WR. Josh is a good facilitator as a sophomore. He's not being asked to do too much which is good. Just thought I'd highlight the offensive stars this week. 1b) Brenham- The Cubs get the win on the road against rival Waller. Close game but that's expected in this rivalry. BF can give more insight on this game than me. Unless one team stumbles then these two teams will stay tied until Oct. 12. 3) Huntsville- The Hornets rolled Rudder to keep their spot at third in the rankings. They will be in a 3 way battle for the last 2 playoff spots in my opinion. They are a good, athletic team. 4) Magnolia West- The Mustangs beat Willis as expected and bounced back from their loss to Brenham. They hold onto their 4th spot for now, but Waller might sneak up on them... 5) Waller- After a close game with Brenham, the Bulldogs show they may have what it takes to separate themselves from the bottom of the district and fight for a playoff spot. 6) Willis- This is where the district really starts to drop off. The Wildkats are at the top of the cellar, but they're not a very good team and they tend to shoot themselves in the foot. That's not a good combo. 7) Bryan Rudder- Rudder looked like they might be on the rise after beating Magnolia...but then Huntsville stomped them. So back to the cellar they go. 8 ) Magnolia- Had a bye week. 9) Caney Creek- Had a couple sparks on offense, but the defense got shredded. It's still Caney Creek...
