Simple fact is....DFW has more single HS districts. They don't build HS's like we do in the GHA. The talent is broken up and spread out in the GHA....Allen, 1 HS 6000 kids...Cedar Hill- one HS district, same with Desoto, SLC....etc.

What are the top schools in DFW?
Allen- 1 HS
Desoto- 1 Hs
Trinity- 2 HS
SLC- 1 HS
Coppell- 1 HS
Aledo- 1 HS
Who are the "powerhouses" year in year out in Ft. Worth, Grapevine, etc and all the districts you've named?

naaaaa...Very rare for RB's to have field days vs Katy...Jamal Charles did, but in a losing effort.....Lodge is who Katy should worry about.

You have to break the cycle....in 4 years of High School football...my mom never saw me play, my dad saw one and he left at halftime...I know how that felt, so I try to make all of my kids events when possible...life happens. I also disagree that many of these parents arent trying and can make it to liquor stores etc...many of these kids are from single parent households, the city bus is transportation....and the parent or parents can't make it

The Woodlands, true that they've gotten better, but so has katy and Westfield. looking back, its crazy. Katy and Westfield lost to two of the top teams in Houston...Woodlands lost to a team that barely made the playoffs, so who knows......They would have to get past Desoto in their half of the bracket. I really dont see a "Lock" in Region 3 D1....Lamar has some issues but I doubt anyone can expose them. Every game this week in D1 seems to be a toss up...no clear favorite except for Cy-Ranch over Aldine , the rest of them can go either way. D2 I would say Katy even though I think the Manvel game will be closer than last sesaon. Pearland was able to run on them and almost tied the game up after giving up 28 first quarter points. I think Katy's run game and defense is a few notches higher than Pearlands.

In two years Katy will be bigger than the city of Pittsburg. It's not the one horse town it used to be and many still think it is. HS #8 is on the way and several kids now are sitting in portable units outside of the HS...this was needed. Animosity between the North and South sides of I-10 kept it from passing the first time.

Game was closer than I thought...head scratcher for sure. The Houston area is a mystery right now. North Shore gets beat easily by Manvel and Westfield, yet should've beaten DFW power Trinity...then comes back and has a close game with WestBrook....who lost to Taylor....who lost 50-7 to Katy...and Channelview....WOW.....are they for real?

It's all about participation numbers. Dallas Skyline has 4000+ kids yet they suited up 38 players vs Cedar Hill. Dont let the numbers at North Shore fool you. It's more "futbol" participation than "football" participation. Schools with larger enrollments usually do good across the board in all sports, not just one...like The Woodlands..Baseball, Volleyball, golf, Football...etc...they are all contenders.

Taylor has a new coach, new system, they went from the spread last season to more of a power run game this season so they are still learning and WB was unable to get their offense off the field for awhile. North Shore is 10x more advanced in the running department than Taylor is and way more athletic. North Shore has a bitter taste in their mouths and I expect them to run away with this one.

Loss could be a blessing in disquise for Katy...they dont have to wait until the playoffs to figure out their weakness. The last two time the lost to the Woodlands they went to State....winning in 08 after losing 47-0 to the woodlands, losing to Abilene in the 09 State game after losing 31-27 to the Woodlands early in the year.....

Never, ever count Katy out.

Way too early to tell. Respect Manvel for thumping Westfield and North Shore...but the past two teams to end their season were POWER running teams. North Shore and Westfield are athletic, but physical, TEAM football...Katy is another monster.

Where is the George Ranch game? GR is/will be the one of, if not the TOP teams in 5A. Agreed that the defense needs to step up for PAM...they will score, but they will need to slow down offenses like GR. The game could be a shootout like the Bellaire and Laporte games last season, and I'll go on a limb and say GR's offense is better. A win over the Longhorns even though they are 5A would send a huge message. Lamar, the transfer capital of Houston, not sure what to expect with them. Waiting to see how all those "All-stars" mesh and play together. Again, PAM's offense will be crazy good....but like Manvel vs Katy last season, you can have the best offense in the world, but they do you no good sitting on the bench because your defense can't get off the field. I was reading another thread that said the past two season Manvel's season ended vs running teams and they didnt force one single punt in those games, they also had 1 sencond half possesion vs katy, punted the ball away after their first series in the second half and never got the ball back again.

Now that I think about it...Region 3 as a whole...will be as good as it's been in awhile:

I also understand that every kid that puts on a uniform isnt going to the next level, not every kid puts the pads on ever again once HS is over so I would want his HS experience to be good for him all the way around....enjoy it. HS is only 4 years of your life...so is college and so is the average NFL career IF you're that lucky....that's 12 years of your life.....that goes by fast...don't want to put all of "Life's eggs" in that one basket.
