Another walk by shepherd ends the kids night. Only allowed three hits but silsbee did a great job of moving runners along.
-
Two nice plays in the infield put shepherd down. Silsbee pitches goes through the line up with no hits. 1BB and 1K
-
Another walk puts Silbee in scoring position but they can't get him across. Both teams have put the ball in play thus far.
-
Sheoherd hits 2 pretty good but silsbee is there. Still 4-0.
-
Silsbee gets 2 more. No base hits. But 3 walks, 2 sacrifices and a past ball get them across.
-
Silsbee returns the favor with an 8-3 double play on a liner to center.
-
Kolek not on mound. Silsbee doesn't hit one hard but collect 3 hits. Aggressive on base paths and shepherd gets a 8-2-6 double play
-
Colmesneil wins game 1 by a score of 7-1.
-
In just about every school, the head coach has a lot to do with it as far as contacts with collegiate coaches etc. however...if a kid can truly play, and not just a mommy or daddy thinking the kid can play, then he will get to the next level.
-
Silsbee will be facing another Kolek again though ðŸ‘

No, Reshod is not back, but he is expected back by WS's first playoff game. Reshod is a great athlete but not the best baseball player WS has, however his absence changes the entire complexity of the team. It's strange but I guess that's what great athletes do for a team.
On a side note, I would like to applaud Garrett Brown for his great perfomance from the the mound last night, Dillon Sepulvado for his perfomance at the plate, and Demarie Smith for being one of the toughest kids I've seen play. That may be what makes this team!! Garrett Brown, Ty Fore, Kirkland Wilson, Demarie Smith, and Reshod Williams are "never give up" players, they get hurt and get up and go at it again and they play with their hearts. 4 of those 5 are seniors and I pray that the younger guys are paying attention and remember the young men that played with heart and try their best to emulate that. We have a great group of young guys coming up but if they dont get after it the way these guys do then they will not have the success this team has had. I'll take a team full of heart over a team full of heartless talent any day!!!!
I do completely agree, you take away anyones CF and leadoff hitter and the dynamic completely changes!
And you are right. You guys have been blessed with a great group of senior guys this year, and Demarie is a gamer. Kid brings it everytime for everything 100%.

Nice win for WS! Congrats on the District Title! Is Reshod back to playing yet?
-
Wow big win for colmesneil. I don't think that helps their playoff seeding...but now Tuesday if Broddus can beat west sabine they will be the outright district champion.
-
Finney is out of coaching, right?
I actually think he is an assistant at Mt. Vernon
-
Big wins for Broaddus. Do each of these still have a game with west sabine left?
-
I think he was hired from crosby when he went to anahuac...was the livingston DC this past year i believe

I say find a turf field and play 4 back to back games all one district
San Augustine hosted 4 games one saturday already. Not a turf field, but sits on a hill and rains well.
-
bringing in 5 finalist next week.
1 current head coach
4 assistants

I agree! You mention Jamikel Roberts of San Augustine anywhere from Tyler to Beaumont and most everyone has heard about him. Not a knock on SA but it is a shame that he is stuck playing baseball on a team that is horrible, because he is a really good baseball player. The kid is a natural at all sports!
Reshod Williams (West Sabine) was the district MVP in football, won the built ford tough player of the week during the 2014 football season, played in the border battle as WR for the Texas team catching every pass thrown his direction and blowing by defenders (was probably the fastest kid on the field out of both teams). He was 1st team all district in basketball, and I would put him up against ANY centerfielder in ET/SETX in baseball. He ran a 10.53 100 at the track meet in Huntington last week. Not saying he is the best in SETX but you have to mention this kid when talking about some of the best all around athletes in SETX. BTW, we have another coming up that may turn out to be just as good, soph. Demarie Smith...... you will hear alot about him in the coming couple years.
They are both SPECIAL kids. Jmike got the Ford POTW as well. Crazy to think they are just a few miles apart in a corner of east texas. What is Reshod doing college wise? Jmike is headed to A&M Commerce to play DB. The coaches there seemed really excited to get him. I think he has a chance to have a great college career.

At the 2A level hard to argue with Jamikel Roberts of San Augustine.
District Offensive MVP in football if i recall correctly
District MVP in basketball
1st team baseball as a junior
Ran on 4x100 and 4x200 at state track meet as junior.
Another good one is Reshod Williams of West Sabine.
I believe he was the football district MVP, don't exactly remember what he got in basketball but 1st team I think, good at baseball and can fly on the track as well.

Hard Line drive down 1st base line...while ball is in the air the 1st baseman attempts to catch it but doesnt and his momentum knocks the ball towards and lands in foul territory (this is all beyond first base). First baseman was in fair territory when he touched the ball. Fair or Foul?
-
Chester won 12-10...SA had go ahead run at the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd and only 1 out but couldn't get them across
-
Zavalla has lived on the edge their last 2 outings...trailed SA 8-5 going into bottom of 7th and won without getting a ball out of the infield
Don't know the score going into the 7th but as mentioned they won in the bottom of the 7th again
-
Don't know his name but I think it was either their number one or two pitcher. From what I heard I thought it would be competitive too. I couldn't make it tonight I got updates from my network of baseball moms lol..... How did y'all do tonight?
We beat bye pretty easily!
Have Broaddus this morning.
