Newton set up to roll to the 3rd round before they get tested in the playoffs. More thank likely Waskom sitting there waiting on them this go round.

I’m just going to respectfully disagree with anyone who thinks Scott Surratt isn’t one of the best coaches in the state of Texas. He turned Carthage into the powerhouse that they are. Guarantee you he could replicate his success at multiple places.

Central won 32-23

Newton won 72-68

Didn’t get to watch this game, but from reading everything And talking to so family that we’re there I think we can see what a difference experience makes. EC is a senior laden team that’s been there done that. Woodville is playing a large amount of sophomores and a couple of freshmen.
Think this could wind up being a good game for both teams. EC has to be proud of their offensive effort, but defensively Woodville seemed to have been able to move the ball quite well but made some key mistakes that you can’t afford to do against good teams.
Woodville can come out feeling like cleaning up the self inflicted mistakes could result in a scary ball club.
And EC can come out seeing that they still have some things to work on and not be too overconfident.

Put me down for shocked by this one. Nice win for Huntington. Thought coldspring had a shot to win the district.

They were ranked #14 in the state and very athletic with several players getting D1 looks.
Again I didn’t say it wasn’t a good win...but just keeping things in perspective. Their best win is what, Elkhart?

I feel better about the Cats after beating Grapeland the other night. They've been a pretty good ball team the last couple of years. Maybe the kids bought in?
It’s a good win...but they are just a year removed from 2A-D2, don’t get too high on the hog about that one

I went and found this one online to watch. WR for LCM (#14 I think) made some really impressive catches. Every time the ball went his way it seemed like he caught it. Woodville gonna be pretty salty eventually too. best I could count. only 2 seniors on offense and 2 seniors on defense getting significant minutes.

Damn, its that small now? Guess it's LCM's last go around in big 4A. I guess when I was there it was as big as it would ever be.
Doesn't matter, we always find ways to lose in Woodville and I always thinks we're too big to play them. Look what the team across town did to a class 3A team. Just saying. Gotta play better. Glad we didn't play Carthage.
At last realignment:
980 for LCM381 for Woodville

Am I missing something...isn’t West Sabine D2? That schedule doesn’t look right

I thought they were really young this year? They get some move in's or something?

Looking at my Farmer's Almanac it's about time for Newton to reach the 5/6th round again soon.
That a way to take a risk 😂

Who are some schools/teams who you think are close to really winning big with a tweak?
I’m thinking maybe someone who always has talent but maybe the scheme on one side or the other doesn’t fit it. Or maybe just a program that needs that 1 big win to get them over the hump and start rolling. Not trying to bash any coaches or any teams just thought this might be an interesting topic to discuss.

Hello tigerheart, perhaps you are correct, there was a period in the early 2000's that were a lull of a team. My godsister graduated in 2003 and I remember they lost that particular year. Maybe they did lose consecutive years I do not recall us ever losing to Shepherd 2 straight years. That seems unfathoable!! But tigerheart thanks for info that I was not aware of
Shepherd did win those two years, it was the last game of the year both years. I know some guys who played on those teams and went on to play college ball as well.

Shepherd won in 2004 and 2005. If my math is correct that isn't 13 years
