2. Headline from Orange Leader:  Pirates kicks Tx. High In Debut... ;D
 3.
35-31 Texas High.
It wont be that close Soulja.
 4.
I was unable to attend the Texas High - Texarkana PG varsity scrimmage, but the Tigers won 24-0. I understand the Tiger passing game and defense were a plus. Good crowd at Grim last night. The Tigers are going to open the season one week from today (Sat) against the Vidor Pirates. That game will be in Lufkin. Let's hope for cooler weather. Last year the Tigers defeated Vidor in overtime @ Longview       -
texark66, gotta a question for ya.... Is Saxsby still the Tigers QB this year? I know Tx. High has some great O/Lineman in McGee, Thomas and Watson. The defense is loaded to with the ILB and OLB as well as the secondary. This game should be a good test for the Pirates, both teams should show up ready to play. Not gonna talk about the woulda..coulda...shoulda's of last years game, just going to say that this yr. will be a very different outcome.  ;)
 5. I heard a barber in Livingston said their QB can dribble the football.
 6.
I heard their QB has a cannon for an arm. In fact, word has it that they've added an extra 100 yards to their field because he kept throwing the ball clean out of the end zone from the 1 yard line.
Which way was he facing?  ???  ;D

Very quiet from the team that many pick to be the front-runner in 20-4A this season.
In their two scrimmages, Livingston has scored 18 TD's and has yet to give up a score!!! (that ought to scare'em!) ;D
wow
Their RB's leap over defenders in a single bound.  ;)
 8. Does anybody have any stats on the Vidor/Wos scrimmage?
 9.

I thought the Pirates looked better this week than they did last week and that's exactly what you want to see in these scrimmages as they get ready for the season, still got work to do on both sides of the ball...2 turnovers (1 fumble, 1 pic.) inside the red zone are costly. The Pirates defense was in the backfield on most of the pass plays WOS ran after they began to spread the field but couldn't quite get to Salter....gotta work on that for sure. Late in the scrimmage Vidor got sloppy with their tackling, no excuses for that. Some positive things I saw, Vidor's defense played well against the run and the passing game, particularly early on. The Pirates offense ran the ball well, when the Stangs shut down the inside, Vidor went to their TB Bolinger and the speedy WOS defense could not contain him he had 2 TD's for the night. Quiante at QB had a great TD run....(hope that ref. is going to be ok.) When the Stangs lined up in their pistol formation, with the QB about 4 yards behind the center it does open things up a lot, I think this formation works well for WOS, it gives them the chance to fire all their bullets and they have loads of ammunition.
That qb-middle linebacker for Vidor is a game changer they have to keep the ball in his hands as much as possible  did a great job on defense too.
You'll get no argument from me.  :)
 10.
Just got word that Daniel Woodson is out for the season with a torn ACL. Could possibly be back if we go deep into the playoffs. We have other good players to fill in,  but he's a heck of a player. The bright side of it, he's a junior so he can rehab and come back next year.
So sorry to hear that about Woodson, I know when he was helped off the field it didn't look good.

I have a great deal of respect for WOS, so many great players have come out of that program....good people over there!! Looking forward to seeing the Pirates get "jaw-to-jaw" tonight with coach Thompson's Stangs, should be good one.
Does anyone know if this will be the 4 qtr game type of scrimmage they usually do?
I believe so Gasilla.

 18. Politics is in every athletic program to 1 degree or another that's just a fact of life. People have to deal with it on the job, in the church, as well as school districts. As for athletics, most coaches worth their salt learn how to deal with it pretty good and don't let it sway their decisions, even though they may be under a lot of pressure. That's what separates the good coaches from bad......they learn how to beat them (manipulators) at their own game.
 19.
But LC-M Dose Have Some BIG Kids .The Bears Will Be Ok  I Think If Thay Can Find A QB ,The Kid Thay Have No Is Not all That Bad .The Bears Need To Find A Better Running Game From What I Saw Friday  Thay Need Work Are Maybe WO-S (D)  Was Just A Little To Much .It Looked Like Coach Thompson Was Not A Happy Camper
skipper.....we have NO players for sale or trade........but hey times are hard and I wouldn't want to stand in the way of capitalism......so current players start @ $125 and up PM me.... :o :D :D
 20. Congrats! Way to go SETXsports, and WOW 25,000 and counting....not to bad for our little corner of Texas!!    8)

 23.
Sounds like Vidors in trouble this year
I think it's a little early to tell from 1 scrimmage whether they are in "trouble" are not. Like I said the Pirates were productive on offense and the defense was stout. When the 1st team offense was in they moved the chains effectively, is there room for improvement, absolutely......but I saw more positive than negative from the Pirates. Maybe others that were actually "at" the scrimmage can post their observations on both teams performances.
 24. Both teams played hard, I know the coaches saw some things that needs improvement, but that's what scrimmages are for right. The Pirate defense played well, they were getting to the ball quick. The backs had some impressive runs, they even had a couple of good pass completions for good yardage and that's a good sign of thing to come. All in all the good far outweighed the bad for the Pirates in this scrimmage and I expect them to get better each game this yr. The returning starters went through the bumps and bruises of a disappointing 2-8 season last yr. so they are definitely looking forward to making some noise in 20-4A this yr. Go Pirates
 25. I also have a real interest in how our O/L looks, because a lot hinges on that for the Pirates to be as successful as they need to be to make a playoff run!
