Former EC coach getting flack over helmet decal?
incognito replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think GB is very fortunate to have coach Valastro, he has a very successful record. They're in a pretty tough district so they don't need this distraction, they just need to put their trust and support behind coach Valastro, or maybe they just want to stay a 1-9 team. I understand the emotional importance of tradition, but maybe a complete change is what this team needs....JMO Come on man put the dang helmets on play some football!! -
Football team hit scrimmages Friday

I'm ready to hear some pads popping, and I know the players are ready to hit somebody in different uniform. -
[Hidden Content] senseless :(

IMO, Faircloth isn't a disciple of the spread offense, he's a two-back backfield kinda guy that likes multiple formations and uses a lot of motion for confusion purposes. And he may even change the offensive presentation every week.

Mr. Garrity when you get back to the area my I suggest you drop by Hamburger Depot, their double cheeseburgers are the best......voted best burgers in SETX. I ordered one the other day and promised myself I wouldn't eat the whole thing in one sitting, so I eat it standing up.....good stuff. ;) -
[Hidden Content] Slight correction in the blog. Garrett Drake has started on varsity before, just not at quarterback. Drake was a starting safety and receiver last year.
Sphomore Pat Reed has pretty much had the job from the get go hasn't he? I know he has a couple of all-district receivers (Turk) and (Gaines) to throw to. -

How much more implementing or tweaking does that need? I am not going to sit here and talk smack. Nederland's program has been solid for years under Neumann and I expect it to be very competitive this season also.
No doubt! The Dogs will be a playoff team. So will the Indians. That being said, there is NO TELLING what will happen for MCM! PNG had no defense last year, at least none when we played Ned. Then again, the Dogs still had a couple of starters on the sideline with injuries. This year, I hope both teams are at full strength and in top form. I'm looking forward to that game, but also looking forward to seeing what The highly touted Livingston Lions bring too.
MCM will be the top game in 20-4A this season IMO....You're right about the Indians defense last yr. But on the other hand they had the highest scoring offense....Big Ned had the #2 defense and the #4 offense as far as points allowed and scored. Good luck to both teams, this game should be a great match-up.

Hey, like I said, take it or leave it. I just think Nederland is going to have some shocks and see some things that they haven't really seen before. Is it really that hard to believe that a coach from a much more competitive school in a larger classification might leave his opponents some raised eyebrows saying "didn't see that one coming"? I think not considering that it's already happened quite a few times in the last two seasons.
This happens every year, to every team, to every coach, to every classification, to every district, to every college team, to every nfl team, etc. all across the nation. Saying "I didn't see that one coming" and "I've never seen that before" are two very different things. Suggesting faircloth knows something that other coaches in setx don't know simply because he is from a larger school with different competition is foolish. If faircloth were to do a fake punt and be successful, nederland would not scratch their heads in awe that someone didn't punt on 4th down. If faircloth passed the ball on 4th and inches from their 40 yd line, nederland would not scratch their heads in awe that someone didn't run on 4th and inches. If faircloth (I could go on). It comes down to adjustments and executing, something Nederland does well. Ask faircloth about adjusting his defense when Sonnier(If I remember right player) was running all over them.
I agree 100%, great coaches make the adjustments necessary to help their teams win.
I'll jump in on this MC action! Last year, it appeared that PN-G was head and shoulders better than Nederland, but nederland won. This year, Nederland should be better than PN-G, therefore, PN-G wins. There I said it. I'm rolling with big Ned. Boo Yaaw!! 8) ;D
Thats a pretty good analytical system you got going there Soulja.... ;D

Bridge City players like chances against WO-S
incognito replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Has everyone forgotten that WOS has lost a head coach. Yes the other coach stepped up and he's been with the program for many years but still loosing a head coach is bound to affect the players that played under him last year. I think thats the chink in the mighty armor of the chain gang and BC will pull the upset this year.
I for one don't think the coaching change will make much of a difference since Thompson has been with the Stangs for so many yrs. -

I was at this game. Livingston had and should have won.
Get over yourself ! I was at the game too and the better team won . Dayton complettly schooled the Lions on the 2 min. drill under pressure while the Lions defense looked dazed and confused. Livingston had a great team ,but the team that rises to the occasion and perseveres to the end deserves the win everytime !
Yea, the kids have Gotta Play For 48 Minutes not 45 or 46.

Bridge City players like chances against WO-S
incognito replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I can't believe people are trying to make the argument that they can stay with WO-s because of what they were able to do when the players were younger. The difference between WO-S and other teams in the area is that, other teams players reach their peak at those younger ages, while WO-S continue to get better year by year. WO-s will have no competition in this area this year. They have most of their defense coming back and a talented back field to where they won't need to throw the ball, with a quarterback who has a year of experience and will be a lot better.
Well since the Stangs will have no competition this year, I guess all the opposition should just forfeit their games against WOS ???
