Best Players in SETX?? (Skill Positions)
incognito replied to GMAN21's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Who do y'all think are the best players and who should we watch out for?
These guys should make some noise this yr. Here's my list in no particular order, I know I left out some really good players, like Vidor's backfield but I'm gonna let them do their talking on the field, but watch out for another 3 headed monster this yr. QB David Green-Ozen QB Robert Mitchell- Central QB Chevoski Collins-Livingston RB Chase Bertrand- PN-G RB Antonio White- Livingston RB Burman Ervine- Kirbyville QB Matt Menard- Bridge City QB Jimmy Salter- West Orange-Stark RB Britton Lindsey- West Orange-Stark WR Cameron Dishon- Bridge City WR Jordan Harmon- LC-M I'm sure they will be others who will sneak in under the radar. -
Mustangs hit the field for Coach Thompson
incognito replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Looking forward to hosting the Stangs at the Boneyard for the scrimmage, it'll be interesting to see how the Pirates stack up against the Mustangs as both teams continue to prepare for the 2011 season. -
What are ya'll feeding those boys on the farm? Hope it is legal!! ;D :D ;) Just kidding, that is a great program!
They feed them boys the old-fashioned way, they use the finest milk, cream, and sugar money can buy. Then mix in their secret homemade recipe. Then they eat all they can and sell the rest...... ;) ;D ;D

I think Doty benifited from the running game being good, not vise-versa. I think Bertrand's numbers will not be as good and will be looking for the passing game to help out. This depends on how the Incomming QB does passing the rock.
I agree. I don't recall anything special from the running backs. Was suprised to see PNG anywhere on this list.
Yeah I can see where Bertrand only running for 2013 yards was nothing special. Esp when Barbers Hill whole offense only ran for 2267!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
Ouch!!!
Everyone is overlooking Central's running game. I promise you at the end of the season the Jaguars will have someone in not only the top 5 but top 3 as a running back and I'm not talking about Robert Mitchell the QB... 8)
Mitchell had 132 carries for 615 yards last yr. no team can afford to think he won't run. Carter didn't get many touches last year, I look for that to change this yr. 2 questions....... Jacobe Collier, how's he gonna look this season??.......And is the spread dead at Central??..... I've been hearing the Jags may run the I.

Toughest Rivalries In South East Texas
incognito replied to raiderfan2010's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I believe a magazine listed Mid-County Madness as the third fiercest rivalry in the state. Maybe someone else can post a link; I don't remember which magazine it was. As for fans per capita, Indian Stadium can seat the entire city of Port Neches, and there are typically people standing in the aisles and around the fence for MCM. Considering that the stadium seats 13,000 and there are ~45,000 residents in the Mid-County area, we're talking about one in three people attending the game, not to mention the countless thousands listening to the radio and internet broadcasts and, these days, watching the TV broadcast both in Mid-County and around the world (that's no joke), I'd say it's probably one of the most followed high school rivalries on the planet. Scalp 'em.
I remember a story about a teacher's first day there in Nederland. To explain the PN-G, Nederland rivalry, her principal took her into the kindergarten class, where they all took out their purple crayons, broke them in half and threw them in the trash. She realized then she was not dealing with anything explainable to anyone else........Now that's a rivalry -
Best Football Tradition in SETX
incognito replied to BADSANTA's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Pep rallies, Bonfires, Marching bands, Mascots, Homecoming parades, Young men who become hometown hero's, a town pulling together to support their team, the drama and emotion under the Friday night lights......It's a beautiful thing, and those traditions never graduate. -

There will be 1 starting QB and he will have the full support of the coaches, team and fans.
Great post. Thats the problem with threads like this. . Its a competition not a controversy. Saturday Night Lights, Season II?
incognito replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I know that KFDM seemed pretty happy about the inaugural season of Saturday Night Lights and there was talk about doing it again this season. Is that a go? If so, has the slate of games been scheduled?
Kudos to KFDM for broadcasting these games, it's exciting for the players and a great way for SETX High school football fans to see a game they could not attend. -
excellent point!! There are plenty of pass plays that can be run out of the slot-t.

Prior to this latest group of kids I think the Bronco's only beat The Hill 21-17 and that was after a horrible coaching job by BH. I'm telling you guys your golden team has done came and gone Dayton will be back to average football starting this year ;D Good news is that you can brag about the 54-0 beat down for as long as you want ;D
You are only digging yourself a deeper hole. Once Dayton embarrasses BH again you can craw back in your hole and think of other ways to try and hide the fact that y’all are completely trash at football and have no chance at beating Dayton. They also return a pretty good QB in Matt bishop ( 66% 2700 yards 32 tds 6 pics) and a 1000 yard wr.
It should be whoever Coach Mathews believes it should be.....end of story.
Excellent point.......We should applaude these young men instead of bashing them. I'm sure 2cents didn't intend for the thread to go in that direction, and thanks to the good judgment of the posters it didn't......but that is exactly what can happen when you pit one player against another for a particular position. I say let these young men play the game and allow the coaches to make the decisions, and then fully support whoever gets the nod.

I don't think Vidor needs to change their offensive system to be successful, they just need to be efficient in their passing game, which can be done out of the various slot-t formations, I mean come on Liberty Hill threw 22 passes in 16 games on their way to the State title in 07. With the slot-t offense the lack of a passing game can kill you, I'm not saying Vidor has to be a balanced offense, that's unrealistic because the slot-t is a run heavy offense, but on the other hand pass can't be a 4 letter word in the playbook..wait pass is a 4 letter word..well you know what I mean. ;D
