1. I think most predictions are made based on what the team has returning, depth, and record of the program.

I know the Cubs are a good team that have consistently made the playoffs the last 10 yrs. and has been to the Semi-Finals twice but how do you put them in the #1 spot when they didn't make it past Bi-District last year??   ??? Brenham has their defensive MVP coming back. Both teams are loosing their dist. MVP QB. The only thing I can figure is that Brenham has more all-district players returning!  :-\
Yes how do they become #1? Dayton has been to the playoffs for the last 16 years.. Went to state in 08. Went farther than Brenham last year. So it can only be A. a popularity vote?  B. What you have returning. or C. Both
2. I think MCM is not only one of the best in this area, but one of the best in Texas period.... 8)
 3.
The SouthEast Texas chapter of TASO starts their weekly meetings tonight. Anyone interested in becoming a football official is invited. We will meet every Monday from now until the end of the season at 6:30 pm at the IBEW hall on Spindletop rd in Beaumont. Come join us!
You guys do a tough job, I called a little league baseball game once.....I didn't think I would get out of there alive.  ;) :D My hat is off to you, but I could not do your job I just don't have the constitution for it.  ;D

 6.
I agree.  Make no changes.  And I'm sure the rest of District 4A would agree.
I think most defenses in the district have a game plan to stop Vidor's slot-t offense right now, so it's up to the OC to counter that defensive game plan and ad some variance to his offense, for instance if the OC figure's out that the defense is playing an assignment type defense then a good OC will figure out the defensive assignments and adjust his blocking schemes accordingly. I think most folks would agree that Vidor needs to put the ball in the air more in order to keep the defenses from stacking the box, this is a function of talent and practice more than anything else, in other words do you have decent Receivers. I believe Vidor does, secondly can your QB throw the ball..since I don't know who the QB will be I can't answer that question right now, but more importantly does the OL have the talent/technique to protect that QB. If the Pirates would practice on the O-lines ability to protect and the Quarter backs ability to throw, then they would know the types of throws that will work, hey folks it don't have to look pretty, (you don't win a game on style points) it just needs to be a completion, I would like to see Vidor throw some screens, play actions, boots and sprint outs, or maybe just a few pop passes and quick's from their veer sets. The quality of the passing game is more important than the quantity of passes thrown! Keep It simple.....The more efficient you are, the more you move the chains and score points! GO PIRATES!!!
 7. There is no doubt that Brenham is loaded up on defense, with what the Cubs have coming back this yr. there is a good argument that can be made that Brenham has the top defense in the state, you guys have at least 7 all-district defensive players returning. I know Brenham has TB Troy Green (6’1” 198) coming back and WR Tre’Mund Moore (6’1” 170, Jr.) returning for the offense, so you'll get no argument from me about the Cubs being a great team, with a great coaching staff..... that really wasn't what I was trying to say in my post concerning the TSRN ratings. When I went back and read my post I realized that I had left out what I meant to say, if you will notice I said both teams are loosing their QB well the other team that I failed to mention was Friendswood who is ranked at #10, I just think that they should be ranked higher than a #10 spot. So let me compare the 2 teams with out taking anything away from the accomplishments of Brenham. (1) Both coaches were named coach of the yr. in their respective districts. (2) Both teams lost their starting QB. (3) Brenham is 23-4 the last 2 seasons. (4) Friendswood is 23-6 the last 2 yrs. (5) Brenham in 2008 made it to the Q-Finals, 2009 State lost to Aledo, 2010 Bi-District. (6) Friendswood 2008 Semi-Finals, 2009 Q-Finals, 2010 Semi-Finals. (7) Brenham overall record- 535-363-41  59% win Pct.-939 games played. (8) Friendswood 394-261-14 overall  60% win Pct-669 games played.     I realize that Brenham has played over 250 more games than Friendswood, heck Brenham has been playing football since the turn of the century... I said all that to say this....Taking into account Friendswood's record the last 2 or 3 yrs. why didn't TSRN give them a little more love than a #10 spot?? PS the #eight in my key board seems to be messed up it put a cool instead of the #  ;D

 9.
Was on the Indian web site and watched Chase Romero's 2010 highlights, kid looks good. [Hidden Content]
Romero is one heck of a football player. He can stop the run, and make plays in the secondary! He's seems to have speed too. Gotta give him kudos for helping Vidor's slot back #2 Bolinger learn a good lesson when Romero striped him of the ball on the 20 yd. line after a 35 yr. carry....lol. One of Bolinger's goal this year is to make sure he holds on to that rock. Thanks Chase for the hard learned lesson...... ;) ;D ;D
 10.
The three returning players on the line that got playing time last year are biggins. OT K. Nicotre - 6'2" 270 (three year starter at LT. Missed a couple games last year with injury) OT N. Stasinos - 6'5" 260 (took over for Nicotre when he was injured and played very well) OG Reasons - 6'2" 250 (got some PT last year as a Soph and did well. I hear he has a bit of a mean streak?) Also you guys left out one of those big nasties last year that is often overlooked, but had a great season in Patrick Braud (RG 6'2" 265). Can't expect the same results as last year, but that is not saying this group won't be good. Last years group was probably the best line of all time at PNG. So if this group is half as good then they will be stout.
Y'all sure know how to grow 'em in PNG, what do y'all feed them boys..... ;) ;D
 11. IMO PNG had the best O-line in the district last yr. No doubt that Bertrand and Jayce Nelson will be key to the Indian offense this season, as for the defense Chase Romero is one of the best safety's in the district. Looking forward to visiting the Reservation this yr.....good luck to the Indians except on Oct. 28 when the Pirates will be in the house... ;) ;)
 12. Tough district to call...Any one of the top 3 could take district imo   :) Newton East chambers Anahuac Woodville Buna Hardin Warren Kountze

 19. All of the Pirate players I've ever known have plenty of heart and drive to win.
 20.
You bring up Nederland.  They have had great success but did you know that in Neumann's time there, they have the same number of outright district championships as Kountze?
I see your point, but you could say that about a lot of teams.  :)
 21.
Games more often than not are not decided always by size or speed, but teamwork/heart ;)
You're right intangibles like, courage, determination, confidence and the will to win are very important assets that can't be measured with a stopwatch, weight scale or tape measure but are essential to having a winning team.
 22.
That '09 team's o-line were huge!
Best in the district that yr. imo
 23. I agree 100% spoonbill the Pirates haven't had a big O-line/ D-line since the 08/09 season. I have great respect for coach Mathews and what he does as AD/Head football coach, he has improved Vidor's over all athletic performance at the high school level, and the kids love him.  :)
 24.
only thing they got is that QB and Gilbert. Coldspring wont even be in the top 10 by season's end IMO
Coldspring does have some all-district players returning:  (So.) RB Tre Cooper, (Jr.) RB Sherman Gilbert, (Jr.) DL Chance Andries,  (Jr.) LB Kedrick Harrison,  (Jr.) DB Colton Monroe and (So.) DB Jerrell Sykes.
