HJ came from 18 down to tie, that takes heart and guts to come back.  They could not get over the hill, and a great shot from 35 feet sealed the deal.  HJ lost on FT's!!!!! I can assure you that HJ will never shoot 35% from the FT line again. The better team beat themselves last night!!!! The better team lost the game at the line!!! No other reason!!!
Gee, very Cooper-esque of you!  But sorry, the better team did win. You know how I know?  The scoreboard said so.
I agree wholeheartedly.  Fortunately for HJ, this game will NOT define the season for either team.
There are other posts on this thread that seem to lean in that direction of "lucky" win. I have seen some comments (not necessarily on this board) that have stated that HJ brought their "D" game while Silsbee played their "A" game and yet Silsbee was "lucky" to win the game. I disagree with those comments. I understand Nash what you are saying about the schedules. I believe that Silsbee's schedule helped prepare them for these type games. But I also believe that HJ's schedule was not a detriment to them in regards to this game or any other game they have or will play.
As previously stated, if the "tougher schedule" theory is valid, Silsbee will win the second game at HJ ( by virture of playing all those tougher games away from their home court) and will go further in the playoffs than HJ does. If your concern about the "A game" comments is on other boards, I figured you would voice your concern to them rather than to me.  If a team fails to play its A game, most of the credit for that goes to the opposition.

 4.
Sure are a whole lot of coincidental "statistical flukes" coming out of this game.
"Whole lot" of statistical flukes?  I named two.  You infer more.  Can you tell me the others of the "whole lot" that I claimed? You tell me what is the statistical likelihood of a 35-40 foot shot attempted from an unconventional shooting position going through the net.  If a team has a free throw average over 27 games of between 60% and 70%, you tell me why 35% is not abnormal.  If those stats are repeated in the next HJ-Silsbee game, then my theory will be full of holes.  If not, then that honor will fall to you.  Guess we will just have to wait and see.
There is always luck involved in a shot like that, but it takes skill to give it the best chance of going in. You said there was no skill involved in that shot. I say there was.
Believe what you want.  We both know what the chances were that it would go through.  I wonder if you would want to bet your hard earned money on a chance that one of those attempts would go in?  If the sitution were repeated three times, how many of those would go in ?
The tougher schedule may not have been what made the 38 footer fall, but it did help Silsbee to be in position to win it from 38 feet.
Great theory that sounds good but game results do not validate.  If that "tougher schedule" theory is valid, then why did the "tougher schedule" allow them to squander an 18 point lead?  After all, that "tougher schedule" allegedly made them more knowledgeable and more capable of handling the pressures that go with a big game.  If what you say is correct, you are, in so many words, suggesting that if HJ had played Dallas Kimball and South Oak Cliff within the last 45 days, then they would have won the game and you are also ostensibly saying that Silsbee will win the game at HJ (doesn"t matter which court a game is played on when one team is "battle tested" and the other isn't) and I disagree.
Sorry game results definitely validate: 1.  In their closest game of the season, H-J hits 35% of their free throws; 2.  In a game where the team's last shot decides the outcome of the game, Silsbee hits their final shot, H-J does not; 3.  That 18 point lead came as they erased a 5 point deficit, which I'll have to check but is probably the lowest lead H-J had taken into the half this year. Look, there are some who are trying to say that H-J played a cupcake schedule, I am not one of them.  But Silsbee played a tougher schedule and it gave them an edge.  How much? Probably not much...but then again, in a game that was decided by just 3 points. they didn't need too much.
The missed free throws has absolutely NOTHING to do with the schedule played and is simply a statistical fluke.  While I certainly am not a basketball guru, you can rest VERY assured that I understand the statistical viewpoint as well as you or anyone else as my living depends on it.  If you believe in your "edge" theory, you need to explain why HJ was in Huntsville last year and Silsbee was not since both played schedules that relate to each other much the same as this year.  On another "statistical fluke" note, please dont suggest to me that there was any skill involved in that final shot or that the "tougher schedule" had the slightest impact on it going through the net.
 8.
Badsanta you hit the nail on the head perfect comment everyone said this very undersized team could not play with the big boys because they had no height, well I guess they gained some respect on that. Had Silsbee been able to keep running in the 4th qtr like they did in the 3rd qtr they would have blown hj out and forget all the fancy dunks I'll take that buzzer beater all day.
Hmmm- Why didnt Silsbee repeat what they did in the third quarter in the final 8 minutes?  For that matter, why didnt they do it in the first and second quarter?  Just curious.
 9. ;D  Perhaps that will become part of every practice, then.

 11.
SteveNash that hard schedule is what put them up by 18. HJ's heart and fight is what tied it. Jackson's skill ended it!
Yes, those oft practiced 38 foot skill shots win lots of games.
 12.
He is top 5 but not #1..I believe Jordan Holmes is the best all around player in setx..then Christian from central  thenShawn
Best player all around?  I disagree Best opposing crowd taunter?  Very possible

 14.
Silsbee had to take it easy with that defense due to foul trouble in the 4th quarter and i think thats what let HJ back in the game. What does that say about the effects of silsbees extremely tough schedule compared to HJ's exceptionally easy one?
It says absolutely nothing.  If it says anything, it says that if you play a physical game, there will be a plus and a minus for doing so.  If you have an 18 point lead on your home court, the opponents shoot 11/31 from the free throw line, and you make a 40 footer at the buzzer to win the game, it says that the "harder schedule theory" was not what it's cracked up to be even though it sounds good.  If you really believe what you are saying, why was Silsbee down ten early in the game when none of their players were in foul trouble?
 15.
Okay, I'm making a count on after game comments,  hold on: Silsbee  fan response 4 HJ fans 1
Give em a chance to get home.  Very difficult to get out of the parking lot.  Congrats to the Tigers
 16. When I read the title of this post, I couldnt help but think that if HJ loses this game tonight, it might lessen their chances of going undefeated.
 17.
If that is the case, that will shatter H-J's season dunk count!  Can you confirm this, Stevenash?
Not sure, he may have already had four but he will have none tonite.  Why?  Because I told him that Soulja thinks dunks are over rated and that he has no business trying to hype the crowd.
 18. 510 hours and counting
 19.
Prudhomme will get 4 dunks.
Soulja is not going to like that
 20.
To be quite honest I can't wait for this game to be over with. This forum is becoming nothing but HJ and Silsbee, and it's getting rather annoying. I can't wait to see the game but I'll be glad when it's over too.
Have you given any thought to simply not reading the posts that involve Silsbee and HJ?  What are you going to do when they meet for the second time at the end of the month?
 21.
Why do people give Silsbee coaches such a bad case. Doesn't Silsbee have a alltime winning record vs HJ?
I think its probably because you suggested that HJ do away with their football program.
 22.

No close games.  The victory over Kingwood Park (who recently beat a ranked 4-a team) was, I think, 9 points.  Hmmm- I wonder why their winning margins are usually not small- Oh, yes, thats it- its the schedule - But I was thinking that when you beat Nederland, Central, Kingwood Park and Jacksonville, you have ostensibly beaten everyone they have beaten?
Kingwood Park barely beat St.Pius. Have you seen St.Pius' team? Yeah they boast some hyped up players on that team bur no major team. Jacksonville beat Lufkin by a few. Lufkin is athletic with football players, not basketball type players. Lufkin has no guards and no real bigs. I still stand by my prediction ;)
Nice try.  Kingwood Park beat 4-a ranked Humble and Jacksonville beat (at the time) #1 3-a ranked Mexia by 25.  You  had better pray that HJ loses because if they don't, you won't hear the end of it.
