Shawn Prudhomme.....Is he the BEST in SETX this year?

And other than your emotions and loyalty to your school, what criteria did you use to make this determination? Hope its better than simply declaring that the HJ schedule included 27 patsy games that you didnt see. -
Ok guys, I am not on here to just talk noise. I truly believe Jordan is the best player in SETX. And what are you talking about me being at the next game to back my argument up? I didn't say silsbee is better than HJ. I'm saying Shawn is not the best player. He is definitely the most explosive. And silsbee was the first team that HJ has played that is competition. That's why y'all were 27-0. Play 27 weak teams, of course you will win all of them. The only record that counts now is silsbee 1-0. HJ 0-1.
Yeah- sure- and 9-11 was an inside job -
If you will get the new I phone, it has an assistant named Siri, who will take voice instructions from you. Who knows, you might possibly be able to have an effect on some shots taken in a game if you are nice to Siri
is continiously changing....when I was in school 20 turnovers would get you a lot of bleacher running the next day(or after the game)....now it's ok if you have thirty if your opponent has 31....very little clock management at the end of quarters. Very little "one shot" trys.....Where did the mid range jumper go? Where are the pure shooters? .......these still are practiced in some places and you can usually see them in Austin........ I know, I am a relic and the game is passing me by... ;D
Come on, No look. Get with the new world. Get into some technology.

If you take a very large sample of scores in all district games ( perhaps 1000 or more as opposed to what happened in the last game) I am still willing to bet that the average margin of victory is CONSIDERABLY less than 30 points. ( you know this already but in this case, will be unwilling to acknowledge) It is also irrational to expect a 35-40 foot shot executed in the same manner as the one on Friday night to go through the net- (another point that you know but will also be unwilling to acknowledge) This all began becaiouse some were saying that there was a large component of luck in that shot and I agree ( at the same time, I am NOT suggesting the victory was lucky and believe Silsbee would have had the advantage in overtime in spite of the late game momentum established by HJ) If a golfer gets a hole in one, you can say it was a great shot, but there was more good fortune than normal and there is nothing you can say to alter that fact because it happens rarely just as the shot going in on Friday happens rarely. If that shot was more skill than luck, then you are telling me that the shooter can make that shot a percentage of times somewhat close or similar to his overall field goal shooting percentage. A very simple way to confirm my theory would be to take every shot attempted from a similar spot on the floor in the state this year. How many do you believe are going in?
I contend, in head to head meetings, you should toss out what happened in district play and focus on the game at hand. Transitive property doesn't apply to sports.
Contend all you wish. I contend that the shot that won the game is an extremely low percentage shot that is rarely successful. ( well proven and validated)People who predicted the 30 point Silsbee victory over HF last year were basing much of their prediction on exactly the item you are saying should bear no relevance.

Santa- There is nothing wrong with Shawns ball handling. You havent seen enough of him to know that but I have. I dont recall his ball handling being an issue Friday night. In fact, I wish he could have handled it more. -
Why Not A Shot Clock In High School
stevenash replied to BLUEDOVE3's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
One more thing Dove- I am VERY surprised you would advocate a shot clock. Since you are a champion of the "little guy" and the" underprivileged" in general life terms,( as in making things as fair and equitable as possible for everyone) I would have assumed you would be very much in support of anything (no shot clock) that would give the less talented and less fortunate teams a chance to compete. -
Why Not A Shot Clock In High School
stevenash replied to BLUEDOVE3's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Having a shot clock also permits those teams who do not recruit AAU players from all over the country another "legal" and "legitimate" method to deal with those issues. -
This is my first post on this matter. Everyone has been saying how H-J shot didn't shoot freethrows very well or 3 pointers, etc.. It's my opinion that H-J didn't do well at all and i'm sure the true Silsbee fans would agree that Silsbee didn't play their best either. To many turnovers and missed shots from both teams. I think both teams will need to play a lot better the deeper they get in the playoffs. And for all those people who say the last shot was lucky, well, I say if your aiming for the basket and it goes in, then it's just a good shot, not lucky.
Then, in your opinion, any shot that goes through the net is a good one. I can certainly understand that. Would you agree that if this situation presents itself again to the same player in the same circumstances that the odds suggest the shot is not likely to go through the net? If I am playing blackjack and draw two cards that total 20 and it beats the dealer, did I "play the hand" right or did the cards happen to appear in my favor? Florida State just beat North Carolina 90-57 and they can certainly classify that as a "good" victory. Do you believe that is what is to be expected or was it an abnormal exception when analyzing a large sample of likely outcomes? If you are the coach of a basketball team and need very badly to score on a certain possession, would that shot be one of your choices?

Keeps the high school game it's "signature". Like seeing teams having to use some strategy in those situations.
There is no strategy in having a 10 pt. lead and you hold the ball. Intentional fouls getting to be too rough at times.
Excuse me, Dove- Isnt earning a ten point lead and then trying not to allow the other team a chance to erase it considered a "strategy"? As for intentional fouls being too rough, I would suggest that there are many "intentional" fouls that are too rough that take place in the course of a game, not just when a team is holding the ball. -

At the 3:51 mark of the 2nd quarter, HJ's Shawn Prudhomme got a break away 2 hand slam(only dunk of the game for either team) to up the Hawks lead to 25-14, largest of the game for HJ. From that point on till 3 seconds left in the 3rd quarter (game time total of 11:48) Silsbee out scored HJ 35-6, to give them their largest lead (and the largest lead for either team) at 49-31. This 35-6 run is a pretty good reason among others as to why Silsbee won the game. ;)
I would also summarize that Silsbee's experience in playing some big games had something to do with the 35-6 run. Their mental game was running on high octane.
"Some" will dispute this claim. ;) ;D
If the 35-6 run is attributable to the superior schedule, is it reasonable to assume that giving up an 18 point lead must also be attributable to that same schedule? I would also dispute the theory that the Prudhomme dunk had anything to do with causing the 35-6 run. If I am wrong, then circumstances similar to these will show up again in a couple of weeks because the relationship between the two respective schedules will not have changed.

I disagree. The win was not miraculous. Silsbee earned their victory and deserved it. Even if that last shot had not fallen, it simply would have sent the game into overtime and no one can make the assumption that the overtime would not have produced results similar to the first 32 minutes. You probably wont be able to stop this subject from being beaten to death for a couple of reasons. 1. There is so much interest in this game, it generates a lot of comments for several days before and several days after. 2. I am not going to let BadSanta have the last word ;D

Your upset that Silsbee won? HJ is as good as advertised. Silsbee needs to be even more prepared next game. Some means me- easier just to say it straight out rather than through veiled inferences. There is, and never was, any claim by me that the Silsbee victory was anything but legitimate. My claim is that everybody makes way too much about the "tougher schedule" theory. Silsbee wins this game regardless of who they played and HJ loses it regardless of who they played. That is my contention and there is nothing I said that suggests anything else.

Your comments didn"t need to be directed at me at all because I agree with what WOS grad said. THe best team won because the scoreboard said so. Silsbee won this game just like HJ beat Jacksonville ( in spite of "some" saying that Jacksonville" lost" the game in the first quarter). Would I have preferred that HJ win last night? Absolutely. Do I think that the Silsbee victory was because of who they played previously? No. Do I think that the Silsbee edge was more related to the game being played at home as compared to who they played in the past? Yes. I find nothing out of the ordinary about any of those thoughts and I dont think those comments should ruffle any feathers.

Had HJ got blown out then you can say something about the schedule. HJ came from 18 down to tie, that takes heart and guts to come back. They could not get over the hill, and a great shot from 35 feet sealed the deal. HJ lost on FT's!!!!! I can assure you that HJ will never shoot 35% from the FT line again. The better team beat themselves last night!!!! The better team lost the game at the line!!! No other reason!!!
Gee, very Cooper-esque of you! But sorry, the better team did win. You know how I know? The scoreboard said so.
That is your opinion, and you are entitled to it. I have given credit to Silsbee. And I am far from Cooper!!! You have never seen either team play, so WTH do you know?
Don't have to know anything, all I have to do is read a scoreboard any talk about "happenings" as your soul mate used to put it, is just that talk. BTW, don't cuss on the board. You know our board owner doesn't like that.
Who cussed? You assume you know what WTH means!!! ::) ::)
When then enlighten us all! What did you mean by it? COO....er, LAZEEK?
Gee, I thought everyone knew that WTH means what the heck.
All the credit should go to Silsbee's coaching staff. They led a smaller, less athletic, less talented Tiger squad to victory over the greatest Hawk team ever. Err, well at least since '91.
I agree again. Special kudos to the Silsbee assistant who contested virtually every call against Silsbee in both games. ( and I honestly believe that this HJ team is better than the 91 team)
