  1. How about they need some athletes.  Job pays well, but until they get some move ins or group of athletes come through a couple of consecutive classes, they will be the same year in and year out.  Your offense is limited for a reason.  Long distance track does well though, I think.

Interesting that you say that. The CC team has Coach Leonard. He might be older, but he's a great motivator and he's training them with lots of new principles and ideas. That's the type of coach folks are saying would benefit the football program.

  2. yeah I wasn't trying to compare them. I wouldn't think Crosby would stoop down to that level.

i bet that LM win did feel good. The "showmanship" from LM always frustrated me quite a bit. Sad to see how far that LM has fallen though.

Good luck to both teams this week. I think Crosby has a little too much and will win by a couple scores, but I also know Lumberton won't go quietly.

  3. It's coming for y'all, you just have to keep building those houses. I know it's even more frustrating at times because of y'all's location basically between Crosby and Dayton. One think I can say about BH is it's not because they aren't trying.

agreed. BH kids' effort level is as high as I've ever seen, and the community backs them at the same level.

    Good post TradenupBH.

  4. Not to ruin the topic, but the Day any of my kids Challenge me or my Wife; that's the day they move out. I don't care how old they are. Obviously too grown to live with me.

    #Ain'tHavingNoneOfThat

just to be clear... by challenge, i mean misbehave, not bow up to me or my wife. Mine are still pretty young, but already know better than that. Poor choice of words on my part.

  5. He came out slow and turned the ball over a couple times. But he still threw 2 TD and ran one. He came up big against New Caney in the clutch throwing a 60 yard strike to send it into OT. Then throwing the game winning touchdown. I know what you mean though im still adapting to the way he plays also. Not much to be said when we are winning ball games.

Good post. Above all, he knows how to win.

  6. I really like how you highlighted all the Crosby mistakes but failed to mention NC mistakes. NC had several key mistakes that would have blown that game wide open. On another note I feel just fine about Dayton's chances this week. I also find it ironic that just a few weeks ago you said NC would most likely finish 4th.  It doesn't really matter though win or lose I can count on you to tell me why the game ended the way it did.

That's because Crosby forced them to make their mistakes. Other teams have no effect on what Crosby does or doesn't do. You should know that.

  7. Not trying to fire anyone up from Crosby, but I think their ONLY weak point on offense is Cotton's decision making at times. Against Dayton he seemed dead set on getting the ball to Netherly even when he was well covered. We heard for several weeks leading up to the game about how many weapons Crosby had (which they do) and what a high level Cotton was playing at... I just didn't see it. No matter how many D1 offers your receiver has, you can't just throw it up and not look to anyone else. Then again... maybe coach just went super conservative and just did enough to beat Dayton...

  8. Housing behind the civic center. Houses going up on 1008 and duplexes coming soon in Dayton somewhere.

yes.. i know about those by the civic center... that's just a handful though. I'm talking big neighborhoods. The duplexes are going to be literally across the street from me. I suppose they could be considered large scale. I'm not knocking dayton... I live here and don't have any intentions of leaving. Just get on a homefinder app and see how much new construction is going on in Crosby compared to Dayton. It's not close.

  9. The kids that had knowledge of what was going in the basket knew better. The letter sent out, for those that bothered to read it, pretty well confirms that. Anyone in the good sportsmanship league at this point in the season, knows what sort of things should go in the basket. I don't believe the kids that filled the basket are racist, but they did choose to make a racially charged gesture, which was most likely blown out of proportion by the adults.

Raise your hand if you have ever consumed, or have the necessary tools to consume a whole watermelon, coconut and a can of pineapples while you're at a football game. That part is actually funny to me, but the same effect could have been achieved with different contents.

  10. That's the best post I've seen you make on here. I don't like watermelon either, and I don't really like or eat fried chicken for health reasons. The coconut is in reference to monkeys.

The initial gift I'm sure were kids playing around and it probably shouldn't have been seen as anything more than than a joke, I know my son would have thought so.

Unfortunately that's not what happened though. What ever group of students the gift was given to, probably as a gag, felt offended. One of the downsides to "progress" is that trivial issues like this are magnified. You can't really argue if it is or isn't though, somebody was offended and somebody was suspended.

Good post. I think it's also very likely that the kids that received the gift weren't offended, but the adults after the fact were. I also think the undertones were 100% intended. Stupid move by the kids IMO. I wonder if they always take a pic with the good sportsmanship gift in hand before the game...
