  1. Housing behind the civic center. Houses going up on 1008 and duplexes coming soon in Dayton somewhere.

yes.. i know about those by the civic center... that's just a handful though. I'm talking big neighborhoods. The duplexes are going to be literally across the street from me. I suppose they could be considered large scale. I'm not knocking dayton... I live here and don't have any intentions of leaving. Just get on a homefinder app and see how much new construction is going on in Crosby compared to Dayton. It's not close.

  2. The kids that had knowledge of what was going in the basket knew better. The letter sent out, for those that bothered to read it, pretty well confirms that. Anyone in the good sportsmanship league at this point in the season, knows what sort of things should go in the basket. I don't believe the kids that filled the basket are racist, but they did choose to make a racially charged gesture, which was most likely blown out of proportion by the adults.

Raise your hand if you have ever consumed, or have the necessary tools to consume a whole watermelon, coconut and a can of pineapples while you're at a football game. That part is actually funny to me, but the same effect could have been achieved with different contents.

  3. That's the best post I've seen you make on here. I don't like watermelon either, and I don't really like or eat fried chicken for health reasons. The coconut is in reference to monkeys.

The initial gift I'm sure were kids playing around and it probably shouldn't have been seen as anything more than than a joke, I know my son would have thought so.

Unfortunately that's not what happened though. What ever group of students the gift was given to, probably as a gag, felt offended. One of the downsides to "progress" is that trivial issues like this are magnified. You can't really argue if it is or isn't though, somebody was offended and somebody was suspended.

Good post. I think it's also very likely that the kids that received the gift weren't offended, but the adults after the fact were. I also think the undertones were 100% intended. Stupid move by the kids IMO. I wonder if they always take a pic with the good sportsmanship gift in hand before the game...

  4. I'll pay to park/watch quality football in a first class facility any day. I think there are teams in 22-5A that would rise to the occasion and compete just fine in 21-5A.. that's the type of kids and coaches they have. Just like Dayton did in 06-07.... they would adjust to the level of play. Nederland, Central and PNG for sure.

  5. Who's starting at qb tomorrow night for Dayton? I know as a Crosby fan I would much rather see Long back there.

    Interesting. why is that?

For the record, I think we're a more diverse offense with Hancock, which would benefit us against a legit defense. Just curious why you would rather that...

  6. Crosby should probably win this game going away. But if they don't, i bet we see a lot of:

    1. I was really busy this weekend and didn't get a chance to post until today. (monday or tuesday)

    2. I actually have a life, work, deer lease, kids, etc. and don't live on this site like you Dayton people.

    3. It's just a game. Shame on all you Dayton hicks for living vicariously through the Dayton football players.

  7. Yeah, I remember after Merka left how bad we were supposed to suck. Maybe we did since we lost in the first round to Vidor and finished 6-5? Then there was the "I can't wait until the Twins leave and y'all suck" comments. Now it's the "wait until that talent runs out" line. Eventually you just have to come to terms with the changing landscape.

Crosby always has and always will have talent IMO. As long as they have the coaching, they're gonna be a tough out and then some.

  8. Crosby fumbled on their opening drive. One of the backup qbs threw the pick in the second half. I don't remember what our second fumble was? I can't remember when KP's turnovers came. They probably did have two in the first half though.

I think Crosby had like 330 yards of offense at the half and KP was in the 60's, I'm pretty sure they turned it over in the first half but I just remember them punting.

Y'all rolled em either way. thanks for the info.

  9. 14.2... just curious. did Kpark turn the ball over in the first half against you guys? I obviously didn't see the game, but noticed they had 2 fumbles and 2 INTs. Also, did y'alls turnovers come in the 2nd half with reserves in the game? Just trying to get a feel for how the game went.

  10. I don't think Dayton's defense is good enough to hold KP to 17 points, especially if Reyna is healthy and can play. I think he had like 250 receiving yards and a few tds on Dayton last year on only 5 or 6 catches. I also want to see what Aaron Hurd is able to do against Dayton, thick kid that gets downhill. This will actually be the second time our staff gets to see Dayton at Turner.

That kid is a burner. Not quite up there with Netherly and Williams, but pretty close.

  11. yeah those were the good runs. in 2003-2008 they put together nice seasons based on what they had done recently. they were winning and at least competitive in any loss. they hd some good athletes. I agree they are all going to north shore, just like HISD Furr's talent pool.

I hate that for those kids and the program.

  12. He's already past the Spring evaluation of his junior year. After that point it's a lot harder to get FBS offers. Maybe some lower level offers like North Texas, UTSA or ULL but if you're telling me Keivon Ramsey was the 55th best safety in the country last year I don't see how Pickney only gets two stars?

I've probably watched over 1000 hours of high school film/highlight tapes and I haven't seen many close and finish like Pickney. He checks all the boxes you need to for major D1 offers and I think he goes 4.3 on the hand time. I'll put it like this. Michael Mathis signed with Kansas out of JUCO last December, Donnie Starks is the starting nickel back at K-State and Chance Casey started a game for the Raiders last year. Casey was even on the Big 12 freshman team but IMO none of these kids were as good as Pickney. Mathis hit like him, Starks had the speed and Casey was just a flat out playmaker but nobody was the total package like #2.

Here's his mid-season work so far, vicious tackler.
