Each team going forward will face physical teams before one of them reaches the state tournament. In the playoffs the game is different. Wish both teams success in the playoff and would love to see them meet up one more time this year!

Are you still on this? This happens in every HS game. Come on dude, this isn't Little Dribblers. Just admit the better team won that night and move on. I hope you get some decent rest tonight before the playoffs begin. It sounds like you haven't slept very well since Friday night... 

The goal of almost every team Ever,  is to limit the touches of the opponents best shooter.  Defense stepped up after going down 0-10.   All teams grab shirts , shorts what ever they can.  They frustrate the player with the ball.  Everyone thinks Scales is a phenomenal athlete.  But frustrating him is the goal.  Just like teams try to limit Sells.   Refs call how they call,  Joubert preaches to his players , play the game and let him worry about the Ref.  An 18-2 run is Not the refs.   When you have been guarded the entire game , denied the ball and having to run around the gym all night ,  you also get tired.  Makes you miss shots later.  Legs are dead in the 4th.   Good luck in the playoffs and get ready for more of the same defense .  Hitchcock was there watching both teams.   Whitmire has done a good job and will be ready.   

Blaming the refs? What happened to that supporting cast going off for 35 points game 3 like you thought?
This game was over with after Kountze’s 18-2 and 35-12 run. Orangefield doesn’t have to horses to counter that.
Kudos to the defensive job Kountze has done on Scales after his monster 1st half in Game 2. They’ve held him to 12 total points over the last 6 quarters…. Maybe that’s where the focus should be instead of blaming the officials because things didn’t go your way.

Game 1 bad refs, Game 2 good refs, Game 3 bad refs. Got it.
This game was won at the 5:00 minute mark through the end of the 1st half when Kountze went on a 35-12 run. Plain and simple. Blaming the refs is nothing new, and explains a lot about the way some kids behave on the court. 

Basketball officials always catch flak from either side. No matter what the outcome is.

I'm only speaking about the numbers. My opinion about game officiating doesn't matter.
The foul rule change has something to do with the fact that OF didn't go to the line as much. Now a team's foul count gets wiped clean after the first and third quarters where it used to just continue to add up. So basically the first half of the 2nd and 4th quarters are free to foul without sending a player to the line. Unless it's a shooting foul. 
The rule change helps a more aggressive team.
I would agree that the officiating allowed for a more aggressive style of play last night. For both sides.
Did the officials miss some calls? You bet. It happens every game I go too. 
But I don't think you can lay this game completely at the officials feet.

Kountze felt that way in game 2 when Sells fouled out.

Fouls were about even.  And refs were not bad but did miss calls on both sides.  It came down to holding Scales to 7 points.

In regards to the 3 point shooting. Kountze only attempted three 3 pointers in 2nd half after going 7/15 in first half. Orangefield was the opposite. They were 4/6 in first half but shot 5/15 in 2nd half. At one point Orangefield was 6/9 from three but then finished 3/12.
As for the FT shooting, Kountze made a decision in 2nd half to go to the rim and not take threes which drew more fouls, particularly in 4th Q. Plus Orangefield started fouling in 4th Q which put Kountze at the line. Kountze shot a total of 17 FT's for the game but 8 came late 3rd and all of 4th when Kountze started driving to basket.
Kountze ended up having one more foul than Orangefield.

Not going to start a new one until both teams take care of business next Tuesday and that we know there will be a third game.

Kountze seems to shoot the ball better at away games.   Defense has turned up and the big men are playing better.  Last night 7 players in double digits,  keep sharing the ball Lions.   Should be a good game going into playoffs for both teams.

Kountze has been pretty consistent in their rotations throughout district. Outside of the OF game, they have been rotating 5 at a time around the 4 minute mark of each quarter. Sometimes rotating 4 and leaving Sells in the game, but players 6-12 have seen a ton of minutes in district play. They are pretty deep this year.

I asked a cousin from there : 
he said he never tried it himself but heard it’s good,  gets good reviews and is open 

And with the new format of shooting after 5 fouls in a quarter,  I have seen many quarters with no FTs.

Kountze’s depth along with the defense they play will cause 95 percent of teams serious problems.  It’s the 5 percent that have elite guards where it falls apart because it leads to easy buckets on the other end.  Then the question becomes how good is your half court defense?  As often as not, it’s relatively weak due to reliance on the press.  This is why relatively few teams do this at the next level and the ones that do, use it to eat shot clock vs causing turnovers   
 
Having said all that, Kountze could win every game by 20+ until they play a Hitchcock and then they could get beat by 20+ if they are unable to adjust.   In terms of Orangefield, Scales is probably the best ball handler I’ve seen there in the almost 30 years I’ve been following (and only a sophomore).  This will definitely be the most interesting matchup of the district imo  
 

Me too !    Depends on if role players show up and play the role.  Also If Ktz plays like they did against EC or if they start slow like against Warren.   Should be a great game, watching two top guards against each other.
