So my only problem with this whole statement, made by ONE (1) Silsbee fan, is that pretty much all of these comments seem to be directed at the "players".
 
1) "HJ is seeing everyone's Ace and Silsbee has been able to reap the benefits of it...."       
     Last time I checked Silsbee Players don't make lineups or pick pitchers.
2) "Grow up and hit the ball better next game"..          
     Really??  If not for baseball gods, could you really guarantee a win?  Seems as though they were doing ok.
3) "why cant you just be a graceful looser instead of a whiner?.."
     One comment.  Now they are ungraceful losers and whiners.  Don't think it was a player who made the comment.
 
Quote the comment next time and address "that person", from which the statement was made.
 
Hardin Jefferson (8 Srs, 6 Jrs, 2 Sophs, 1 Freshman), sees everyones "Ace" because Silsbee baseball was not considered a threat.
So now that they, Silsbee Baseball (3 Srs, 2 Jrs, 5 Sophs, 4 Freshmen) with only 1 returning starter, might be a serious threat to win this District, they will see more "Aces".
 
So if I read this right, HJ Baseball players will get to reap the benefits of seeing the "lesser talented" pitchers that Silsbee has seen.
It is baseball.  Anything can happen.
I congratulate HJ baseball on the win, Silsbee Baseball Players, not fans, accepted the loss despite the situation described here.

Nothing worse for the competition than a team of young players who weren't expected to compete to gain confidence by winning.  
 
Realize that they gain some experience, realize that they can play ball with anyone and most of all...
 
everybody still has to show up ready to play.  This will go a long way towards their ability to win big games. Doesnt matter what happens rest of the season in my eyes.
 
I know they want to win but this just proves that if they play together they can win.

Saying AAW has "hate" for BC is a little much, you must remember that he wears maroon to everything and the "envy" reflex is very strong for that reason so his remarks tend to be a slanted.


I'm actually just poking fun at AAW! He's really a good dude and does a fantastic job promoting sports in our area. He was always beyond nice to me and my son at any event we saw him at and for the most part complimentary of other schools when they played Silsbee. We had some great conversations during our 4 years of BC vs Silsbee baseball/football and I consider him a friend and a friend of high school sports in our part of the world.

Just my humble opinion.

One example:  2nd & 3rd with 2 outs in 1st.  Wild pitch scored the run and I believe he had 2 strikes on batter at the time.
 
my memory is always in question but this is close. 

Base running on both sides for sure.  Silsbee ran themselves out of the 6th for sure.  Judging fly balls was dicey but I could excuse both teams due to wet conditions out there.
 
As for the hit....Silsbee got the one they needed but, BC had there own chances as well.  Not many for both teams but that is baseball.  Great game by both teams but as usual someone has to win.  Silsbee gets the first one this year but was 0-2 last year.

Had Boise State had Barbay as Head Coach, they would've been better!! ;)

6A and 5A are too close in size. Yes there are good small school programs but this message board would have you believe that the top 4A school would beat the top 6A school. And, that ain't happening!

Right now, I just wish it would quit raining so I could watch ANYBODY play!!!

Been in Lumberton 40 plus years, not sure if any group of coaches will ever get full buy in and enough time to change the mindset here. Frustrating for sure. As far as athletes and talent, Lumberton has both but many leave for other schools with more stable and successful programs. Hard to blame the parents, you only have four years in high school and every parent wants to provide the best opportunities possible for thier children to reach potential . My hindsight, I should have moved my kids but I didn't. Lessons learned.

Football parents happy. Players happy. Kids getting bigger, stronger, faster. Offensive numbers good. Defense a work in progress. Young team mostly sophs and Jrs this year. Returning a lot. Does this sound like a football decision? In mid March? When you run a football program and an athletic department your way, sometimes people get upset. Keep in mind lumberton is known for what? Girls soccer, girls basketball, and band. Why is that?

I like both guys but it was a bad year to be a qb with our skill sets but this conversation is useless because Silsbee just dont play defense. I say don't because with all that talent I'll never buy into the "can't". EVER year, for the most cases, we finally run into another team that plays offense on an equal level and smacks us in the face defensively.

Offense gets you into playoffs but defense wins championships.

Saw a post today and got me to thinking.... Dangerous activity for those that know me.

I am curious to know the current tenures of our High School Baseball Coaches.

In today's volatile coaching carousel, jmo, I find it amazing if a school retains their coaches for any significant amount of time.

Please try and not repeat any prior submissions if they are accurate.

So, if I could ask for the help of one of the admins who monitor this forum to help compile the responses I would be grateful.

In closing I would like to offer Coach Griffith some recognition. I have played against your teams, watched your teams and even umpired your team games.
