Whoever's in a district with North Shore is playing for 2nd place off the top. Having said that, they will probably win 2 district games @ best hoping to beat either Baytown school for 4th place. The redistricting in 2010, who knows where the UIL will put them. '09's looking like 3-7 best case scenario.

You must be high. A. Lou was 0-fer against Ned and PN-G. Brooks had the best winning percentage @Ozen so far. He (Brooks) couldn't handle the pressure to win and thus left for perceived greener pastures... I stand corrected, Brooks percentage was better. 8) Brooks winning percentage was better for the simple fact that he not only inhereted a winning program, but he only had 2 yrs as to Arthur who had 4yr. Also in Arthur's first yr he had no Sr.'s and still made it to the play-offs Brooks not only had Sr. but he had a ton of D-1 players from Arthur's team... And if you look at the historical sight Arthur did beat nederland he also beat WOS... A. Lou was 0-5 against Ned. Lost twice the first varsity year. Twice the second. That team that played Harker Heights in the 2nd round didn't play Ned that year but A Lou's last year, they lost 42-21 @LU. Yes, he did beat WO-S but laid a goose egg against MC...

give the guy a chance to do things on his own. Its obvious the kids like him, he loves Port Arthur, and hes a great guy. I for one hope he succeeds. Let me break this all down to you: He was with Colbert @TJ. He was with Colbert @PAM. He was with RTG for 3 years. That's at least 9 total. Remember when I posted on another thread about RTG not calling plays etc.? I didn't wanna put it out there at the time but Kenny called me here @work to tell me he wasn't the one calling plays despite RTG not wearing headsets, and KRH, the so-called OC, had the headsets on. He told me he only called 2 plays the whole season. Both came against the Woodlands(loss) which both were pass plays. One for a pick 6 by THW and one for a Titan TD. We talked for an hour and he want to make me understand, in no uncertain terms, he wasn't the one calling plays on offense.... Now let me further break this down: PAISD screwed up big time splitting the job of AD from the HC. So that's why the list was so thin. Quality coaches won't come here for the pay. Out of the 5 or so who made the final cut, KRH probably low balled the other 4 offering the district a pay rate of $5/hr. So naturally, they took Kenny cuz he works cheap. But you always get what you pay for. Another thing: Why didn't KRH, since he's so qualified and ambitious, apply for the Central, or Lee, or Jasper, or hell even LCM openings? I tell you why, because his resume` is waffer thin. You'd think, somebody that wants to be a head coach so badly would apply any and everywhere there's an opening. Can't do that when you only call 2 plays in an 9 game season...... See y'all in 2011.....

They did beat Bellaire in a warm up game and they got bounced in the first round so Yates is legit....

Houston Chronicle has Pasadena Memorial beating Dobie 54-46 but I'm sure they mean PA Memorial... -
Why is PA Memorial getting no love on here?

I guess as far as Green goes. Yes he won @Central--well he got out of the region once but that didn't transfer to PAM. I think the perfect storm was brewing when Kingwood was just the school of Region 3 in the early part of this decade. Couldn't get passed them. The one time PAM won the district, they couldn't win the next game after the bye. All I know is Henderson better get them at least to the 3rd round or he will be seeking work else where... -

TJ and Lincoln did well before intergration in football. Bone Washington tore down what was once a Lincoln tradition on the field. The Old Man Thompson had one good run, while my Eagles made 2 semifinal apperances in the 80's. Lincoln held down basketball and track while Austin did well in track and baseball. All that said, I could care less about what school folks assumed one went to when it was found out one was from PA. I'm all about the present and it starts with the hiring of a new football coach and Henderson getting pass the first round in Bball starting this week..... -

I will tell you EXACTLY what has happened...When Memorial was created, they made a HUGE mistake in trying to "start over" and not embrace Port Arthur's west side and retaining all of that tradition...BIG MISTAKE...They killed interest along with tradition, therefore you lose players to Beaumont Kelly (J'Covan Brown in 9th and 10th grade) Nederland, PNG, and other surrounding schools that would have NEVER left Lincoln..PARENTS would not allow that to happen when Lincoln was around..They should have followed Ozen's lead when they "resurrected" Hebert...Same colors (blue and gold) same mascot (Panthers) and they simply named the school after someone that the entire community knew and loved, Clifton J. Ozen....If Memorial's colors were purple and gold, the mascot were bumblebees, and they would have named the school JAMES GAMBLE HIGH, they would not have missed a beat!! THATS the reason why they fell so far, so fast...They lost the WEST SIDE of Port Arthur... I understand what you are saying, Dicky, truely I do. But you can't name the only school in PA after a Lincoln coach and use Lincoln colors and mascot. There was a school named Thomas Jefferson also that was involved in the consolidation. There has to be some consideration for that school also. I think that it was handled about as good as could be expected. You really can't compare Ozen to Memorial. Memorial is the only school in PA, where as Ozen is just a newer version of Hebert, there still is West Brook and Central. Now if you were to merge all three of those schools, then you could compare it to the merger of Lincoln and TJ. Don't forget about SFA..... Anyway, the boat was missed during consolidation as far as coaching goes. Suggs got away. Green wasn't ready to step up to 5A bball, the girls programs suffered(except for Bball as long as Tae-Tae was there). Painting PAM purple and gold would've ment anything without a good staff in place..... When PAM first opened, there were some digruntled parents who took their kids else where( a subject for a later date). On the surface, it seem to be a great loss(J'Covian's brother comes to mind) but as time went on, alot of these kids didn't amont to a hill of beans after high school. Alot of parents tell me it's about their kids education and I feel them on that but at the end of the day, running away from the problem doesn't do anybody any good in the long run.... -

There's no Kingwood in 4A. 5A is the real deal in all sports. Plus Green wasn't ready to coach them up. The UIL gave PAM a break getting Humble ISD out of the district.... -

Me thinks the hiring of Boutte had a lot to do with PAM's turnaround. They should've lost to NS the first time.... -
Bowser, help turn some of those soft WestEnders, into some pretty decent Olinemen to run Stumps version of Sissy Ball. I can vouch for JB. He's a good dude and a fine coach....

I don't recall ever saying anyone would adopt the TT offensive model in the NFL. I simply said that Joe T is probably the biggest idiot covering sports today...slightly ahead of Joe Morgan. Variations of the spread offense are already in the NFL but it seems no one wants to go "unconventional" because the spread offense can't work in bad weather, can't control the clock, blah blah blah. Bill "the hoodie" seems to have a variation of the spread working pretty well up in New England last time I checked. It puts the defense at a disadvantage doing something they don't normally do on first and second downs. Go back and watch the Superbowl and notice what happens when Arizona starts running 3 and 4 wide receivers and the no huddle. The main point that Heisman Theisman made was that QB's don't have the fundamentals in the spread offense to run an NFL offense. He cited 2 recent successful rookies who came out of pro-style offenses in college and the failures of Alex Smith who came from the spread. I just think that what type of offense you played in during your college career will not predict your success in the NFL. Brett Favre - wishbone; David Carr - Pro style college offense; Joey Harrington - Pro style college offense...maybe it's just that two of these players sucked and one of them didn't regardless of their college offense. The 'Hoodie' runs a standard 2 min drill. Carr and Harrington were in shotgun offenses @Fresno St. and Oregon respectively. I remember Carr throwing over 8 foot ladders to get that side arm delivery out of him. If the Super Bowl were in some cold weather, Arizona would've been as productive as they were in Tampa. You know that. And until otherwise proven, defense still wins championships.....

Well I hope Nelson gets the job and brings my boy J. Bowser with him.....

Ryan Leaf, Alex Smith, Vince Young, along with every Tech QB draft have either struggled or sitting the bench in the pros. Also, it's killing offensive linemen as well. Say what you want about the option but Nebraska kept an Olineman in the first round of the draft. Sissy ball is watering down all positions on offense sans Wide Receiver.... Theisman sure makes some good points in his article...like his idea that the spread offense requires QB runs and Ray Lewis being there to meet them. Anyone ever seen a Tech QB run the football in Leach's 9 years at Tech or any Oklahoma QB known for their running?? What about Hawaii...any runs there? Regardless of your preferred offense it just matters how many points you put on the board. Most defenses are set up to stop the conventional offense (2 backs, 2 receivers, 1 TE). 4-3, 3-4, 46 etc...change that to a spread offense and the defense has to change into something they may not necessarily be good at (see Pittsburg's vaunted #1 defense in the Superbowl for example). What is wrong with being unconventional especially if it's successful?? Just a quick glance at the state champions in HS and the BCS teams from college makes me think the spread offense is here to stay. The NFL will never adapt either the Texas Tech model nor the Spread Option eventhough the Wild Cat formation has made an appearence on several teams. The TT model doesn't eat up clock and the SO gets the QB's killed--unless they start playing touch when it comes to tackling the QB. Anyway, I'm on Joe T's side in this debate...

I don't know Sfa about that bc NF lost five players from last years team. Their best shooter is out for the season and D-Wade is the only one back. I doubt seriously that anyone in their district is as good as D-Wade or Carter from Crosby. Pretty good analysis but They'll be matched up against that might Bulldog Bball team and NF should run them out of the gym....
