Dang Bobcat! Thats too late. By that time they are either mad at us or happy ;D
That's my whole point. My best Friend that "thought" is daughter LOVED basketball only to find out that his daughter only played because she thought that was he wanted. He coached her to 2 National Championships in Little Dribblers and multipal finials between 7-12. So at the end of HS, she had a full ride to UH, Baylor and UT but never wanted to see a basketball again in her life. If you think it can't happen to you, it might not but it happen it to him. Just a thought about if select is worth it. -
Great point. But Ultimaly is up to the Parent... Now way in heck my kids will more than 100 pitches in a weekend. Period..... Parents who let their kids (under 16) throw 100+ pitches and curve balls are idiots. No exceptions.
You are right, its up to the parent but I can tell you that if a select/Elite.Premier PITCHER 16 & Under or example my boy being 11u doesnt have a max of 3/4 pitches he will not make it as a top pitcher. My son has 4 pitches and his curve ball is the KILL shot. I always keep track of his pitches though, never gets close to 65.
So I have to completely disagree. No junk balls until 16 or 17. I feel like a kid should be taught ball placement / control vs junk balls. Any "Professionals" like to elaborate on this critical topic. I feel like pitching is the main area LL complains about. -
The new fad that I've observed lately is lilltle leagues creating teams comprising kids from one league. The idea is to have the kids gel before all-stars and gives them a head start on practices. The only problem that I see with the younger kids 12 and under group is if kids are playing a 16 game little league schedule and then playing another 20 to 30 game select schedule is eventually the kids will get burned out. I don't think it's in the best interest of the kids that pitch either. It's hard for me to believe that these young kids aren't going to have some type of arm problems after throwing over 150 pitches in a five day period. Here's an example, top pitcher on a little league team and he is placed on a select team. He pitches 75 pitches Friday night for little league and then another 75 pitches during the weekend select tournament. This kid will probably pitch towards the end of that next week putting him around 220 pitches in a 7 day period. I think there should be some type of rule that if a select team under 12 years old plays one weekend that they aren't allowed to play until the third weekend. That gives select teams two weekends to play per month. That may not be the answer, but something along those lines. We've been involved in select for a while at the younger age and I'm kind os scratchiing my head why we've spent the money we have so far. Select is so watered down now, that depending on what tournament and teams that are playing, it's not that much more then little league IMO.
Great point. But Ultimaly is up to the Parent... Now way in hell my kids will more than 100 pitches in a weekend. Period..... Parents who let their kids (under 16) throw 100+ pitches and curve balls are idiots. No exceptions. -
That's great that both if y'all are giving kids a chance to play. I guess we'll see y'all out on the field one day.

I figured it was going to be cold. Looking forward to some good baseball weather. I hope the USSSA tourney in Feb has a good turn out. Looking forward to playing some local team. BTW, what te does your son play for NDN Nation???

Type of Bat allowed playing Nations and/or USSSA
I agree, all wood. Or, for heaven's sake, USSSA, Nations, Pony, Little League, etc. all need to sit down and come up with 1 set of bat rules. Right now, it's ALL about the $$$$$$.
That would be a great ideal, but then someone have to say whether or not Ash bats are allowed, vs Maple or Oak or Peacan, Pine or Mesquite.... Or maybe a sythetic wood bat is gonna be available. -

Ha. Who would have thought 10 years ago it would this complicated to buy a kids bat. Ugh. Let go to all wooden bats. -
Good. Glad we don't have to travel so early in the year.
-
Baseball is around the corner, when's the first local Tourney all the local teams are gonna try out first. Just seems to cold to play in Dec, Jan. Wonder how the weather is going to be for that Feb 18th USSSA Tourney at Ford Park.
Sorry no the S1, did not seem to be worth the added weight for the length. He covers the plate easily with a 29" and it is a drop 12.
Better check if it's legal in LL cause I'm pretty sure select only allows for a -10 drop. -12 is too light for Nations and USSSA. I think.
Well we got it in. It's got great pop, but hit inside the barrel and it stings my son. Hope this one lasts longer than the TPX He used this past year.
So you got the XL??

Look, I'm not one of "those" dads that likes to brag but he used the Rival as his select big barrel and hit one out at those parks in Westlake The Lithium Worth is a great bat but not very durable. It will dent... no doubt.

If #28 for PNG or #10 was my son, I would be furious that the coach would work him Like a government mule and not if but when he gets hurt, you toss him to the curb like an old pair of shoes. I see this all the time in baseball, the same "Dominate" pitcher pitching every game 100 pitches for 6 months a year and at 17 yrs old needing "Tommy" sueguery. All for what..... For the coach to get his "Tropy" that will sit on his mantel and collect dust while a kids body is ruined for thr rest of his life.
Thats a VERY general comment and most of it is simply not true......the coaches that do what you mentioned are very few, and please do not use such a wide brush to paint all of us coaches the same. There are also BAD parents, but very few, and I don't see coaches using a wide brush to label all parents bad...... I won't even respond to "icancyourmind" as it does not deserve a response
I just have one question for you to answer. Why did #28 from PNG-W and #10 (the 7 or 6 yr old "Monster") from Nederland carry the ball 9 out of ten times and never very came off the field. His actions are louder than your words. Where as the actual Superbowl winners had a more balance "Team" approach..... BTW. I'm a coach and a parent of many sports. -
so why did you choose the xl over the S series? which one does your son have? 1 or 2?
Actually we bought the Easton Omen XL not the XL. Sorry but I had to go check the bat. In feb or march we'll get the Easton Omen XL big barrel for select. What size does he use, I may be willing to sell it since we are not playing little league this year.

Junior Superbowl and PNG W #28
The Junior Superbowl was a thriller. Congrats to WOS and hold your heads up PNG W. You guys did an amazing job this season, just keep working for next year. Now to #28, that kid is HEAD, SHOULDERS, AND HIPS above everyone in this league and he proved it again today. He pulled that team nearly single handedly into contention. I have never seen that on this level before. I believe most would agree that this PNG W team is much easier to handle without him there. If he had ANY SORT of COMPLIMENTS OR HElP, WOS would have lost this game. WOS has multiple talented guys at multiple positions and it played to there advantage today. People we may well be looking at the next SETX pro player in the making. Enjoy it!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!! You spit in the entire teams face of PNG-W, coaches and and players. I didn't see #28 snap the ball to himself, didn't hand the ball to himself, pass the ball to himself. It's a team sport. Hey Dad, if you want to claim your son single hand won a sport, put him in golf or track or singles tennis.... That way its all him and you can say wish the "Team" would have won. This is not the first thread I've read about this kid single handedly wins a game. I've never read anyone other post about WOS #4 bragging about him winning the game or about #9 and #25 of PA or 78 for LC. So if you say that he's the team, then he a lone is to blame for PNG losing the Superbowl. There is NO "I" in Team. -
Where in Orangefield will the practices be?
At the Game field if the jr football league behind the high school.

The South will practice Nov 7th, 8th & 10th from 6:00 to 7:30 in Orangefield while the North will practice mostly likely in Lumberton at most likely the same times and days. But I can not confirm the North exact schedule.
