1. Great game, congrats to Ennis on another State Championship, they just had more horses tonight and CP's weakness of not being able to throw efficiently and untimely holding penalties came back to bite them. Ended the season much like they started losing in the last minute. For what was supposed to be a defensive slugfest there sure were alot of points scored, I guess the volley of turnovers contributed to that. Again congrats to Ennis on a great season, played alot of tough teams and won the ones that mattered especially the one tonight.

  2. Im taking Temple by double digits.

    64-51

:o  I'll be super impressed if they do!! I think good defense will prevail with Temple held to less than half that, just my opinion though. Either way I like Aledo by 12+. We're all just guessing here, should be a great game to watch. I've just seen some high powered offense's shut down by disciplined defense and I think that's what will happen Saturday.

  3. @DavidSmoak: I knew @TempleWildcats had nearly 900-yds/offense, but @ChadPres10, Hatcher, Carr & Co had 678-yds rushing & almost 10.0/a pop? Whaaaa?

Good defense or SUPER GOOD offense wins chamionships, Vandy's defense has been suspect all year and Temple has plenty of of "O", that combination was a beat down waiting to happen. It will be interesting to see what happens next week when the "unstoppable force" meets the "immovable object", my money is on the latter....

  4. Im sure those Hutchins boys are the bulk of the rushing yards.

Thomas is a straight up beast, and Chris is good, but the Guidry boys (brothers but not twins like the H's) also did their share of damage, as did Alzir, as did Cheatum, as did Grimm, as did.........you know, they're still rb by committee, and who doesn't get enough credit is the big uglies in the end they're the ones opening all those running lanes. CP is a team of teammates, nobody seems to be "the star" (although Thomas H. is a straight up beast on both sides).

  5. I think his post lacked some punctuation. .. but what I gathered, is that CP had a sign that read, "Code Red is Dead". Apparently, code red has some deep meaning that CP knew about and Crosby felt it was low class.

I've been hearing and reading "Code Red" all week. If it does have deep meaning (which is???) and you put it out there as a battle cry it's fair game. If it were that sacred don't be using it as a rally cry for a football game...

  6. Yeah CP got beat by Dripping Springs 23-0, coached by a coach who started in Hardin as an assistant, and can't carry Brenham's jock....well you know the rest. Some folks on here in the know tried to tell you CP was a different beast, they're a great football team regardless of what region they're in.

To the Crosby players congrats on a great season, the future looks good for you. To the seniors may you carry the good memories and lessons for a lifetime.

  7. Temple is actually seen as the class of the central Texas area this year and Hutto only lost to them by 7. Crosby beat Hutto by 6 but was up by 3 tds in the 4th quarter before they went into "safe" mode. Hutto got an onside kick and score with a minute and change to get it looking closer.

All that and a couple of bucks will get you some hot coffee friday night. I didn't say Brenham didn't have a great "tradition", longer does not mean better, it means longer, they've been around a little longer. Tradition won't win football games anyway. Neither will CP's lose in week 4 or Temple only beating Hutto by 2 more points than Crosby did. Sounds like you're trying to work it out in your mind why Crosby should win. Maybe they will but it won't be because CP is stunned by the overwhelming strength and talent like they've never faced...that's just silly.

  8. For the people saying that Crosby will lose, I'm just wondering what y'all think Cedar Park's plan is going to be to beat the Cougars? Brenham has an equal coach and better tradition that CP, and Hutto probably has better overall talent than CP.

Basically what y'all are saying that is if YOUR team won the region you believe they would lose this game to CP. Sounds wierd when you say it like that huh?

It's hard to take you serious when you make statements like that. Brenham has a great and long tradition, but BETTER? Doubt that, you'll understand why CP is what they are by Friday evening.

  9. This is Freakonomics 101, forget the money UIL is making, for every $5 or $10 or whatever ticket that is bought, how many $$ do you think are spent on 1.) concessions, 2.) travel expense, 3.) food and lodging, 4.) playoff tshirts, 5.) you name it here (medical expenses from injuries?). Legislators will never legislate that away even if they could.

It's just plain stupid, playoffs are to determine an ultimate "champion", teams that have 0.0001% chance of achieving that should not be involved, no offense to the kids they gotta play the schedule. The adults in charge are to blame and they are degrading our younger generations for their own greed and ignorance. If UIL wants more money they should just do it the old fashioned way, create a new tax.

Jasper Bulldog alumni Michael McFarland is the superintendent at Lancaster ISD. I was pulling for them. The team played undisciplined tonight - few teams can win a championship like that.

CP head coach is a Tarkington alumni, coached in HD and Hardin years ago, married a Hardin gal and drug her all over the state before taking the helm at CP after several years as DC there, so I'd say he's a setx boy, but I realize most don't consider anything west of the Trinity setx. He helped a great coach in Chris Ross build a great program, along with others, and was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time, sort of like CP has been since week 3.

Lancaster has a ton of talent, I was really impressed with #58 after the matter was decided showing alot of class. Alot of those mistakes were not necessarily "forced", but came from confusion and frustration. Its what good teams make other teams do.

Lancaster wasn't robbed on the "TD" late. QB should have never gotten the pass off, he would have been sacked had the defender not been tackled right in front of zebra whose arm was worn out I guess so he neglected to throw the flag. Funny how some folks only look at the end of the play for a result and not the events leading up to it. There were plenty of penalties on both sides.

Navasota would beat both of these teams
Wrong. CP would do to them exactly what they did to every opponent they faced in the playoffs, win the matchups. You can speculate all you want. CP is not a flashy team of superstuds, they are a TEAM that wins games down by down, often bending rarely breaking. I don't know squat about Navasota except they are really good. CP's philosophy is "it doesn't matter who you are, we know who we are". It served them well I'd say.
  12. Thanks for the info dwack, check out http://www.texastowingcompliance.com/. I read one story where someone running an illegal towing scheme was sentenced to 18 years. Theres alot of good drivers out there saving our butts when we need it but there are undoubtedly a few bottom feeders out there just taking advantage of people. Even private property owners have sign posting requirements, was the lot marked at all? I understand there is also a law allowing you to sue an illegal tower and be rewarded up to 3 times your damage, you'll have to research that. They count on the fact that most folks will figure its not worth the hassle and will just pay and move on.

beechnut maybe you should have made that phone call before coming on here flapping about slander.

Hats off to 17-4A!  Georgetown & Manor both still going strong and Elgin had a helluva season too, barely losing last week.  I don't feel quite as bad about being swept by them now.  Time to get better this offseason for the first round next year.  Untill then, I got a feeling 18-4A's baseball teams will avenge this.

Good point, 17 made a heck of a showing, one thing is certain, CenTex will be well represented at Jerry's house.

Good run, but it's over. Flour Bluff ends its season at 13-1 after Rouse wins 34-0 in the region final. Rouse meets Georgetown next week

Georgetown (14-0) vs Leander Rouse (10-4)
.1:00 pm Sat, Gupton Stadium, Cedar Park
crap, i had Rouse going to State, welp guess that aint happening now. GT might smoke them.
While you're probably right I wouldn't count Rouse out yet....the prospect of an dual 25-4a championship is very real..btw, LT seriously would have struggled to make playoffs in 25 this year, I'm sure some will argue that but they were a shell of what they have been....CP has dominated opponents and a rematch with Rouse might be interesting at this point. but that can't happen....GT Rouse will be a great game.
