  1. I'm sure we could go on forever. What would be the point? I was merely suggesting that while the right still wildly criticizes Clinton, Newt has somehow re-emerged as a respected politician even after cheating on and leaving TWO wives after they were diagnosed with cancer and MS, respectively.

The point would be showing you that the scandals and improprieties from liberals far outnumber the scandals and improprieties from conservatives...it only makes sense, because many liberals have no clearly defined moral values (and proudly claim it) so you would expect more scandals from them...even though they consider them no big deal many times.

I wouldn't accept Stevenash's challenge either because you probably would not like the results.

    From the article:

One of the proposed changes would have restricted the number of prescription drug plans an insurer could offer, which would decrease the choices available to seniors.

The administration argued that less choice would help seniors, because having too many options could be "confusing".

Yeah, that's what I hate when I'm shopping for something...too many choices...don't want to be confused so I would be very grateful for someone eliminating most of my choices for me.

Of course, they got rid of this during an election year...and I'm sure it will never be back.

  3. I would like to see Rand Paul because I am more in line with his views than anyone else.

He is a small gov fiscal conservative with much more sensible views on foreign policy than his Dad.

That being said, I don't know if he will be electable in 2016....more of an evaluation of the voters rather than Paul.

All the most viable candidates for the GOP in 2016 are more of the same big gov spenders that will continue to go along with increasing the federal debt...hopefully that will change.

But, they will at least be on the right side of Second Amendment and military issues...IF they can beat Hillary.
  4. I'm not saying what Clinton did was okay, but what Cain was alleged to have done was much worse. A pattern of sexual harassment, including unwanted groping and sexual advances, as well as affairs emerged after he decided to run. So regardless of whether you had a problem with what Clinton did, surely you can see the difference between an affair and sexual harassment bordering on rape.

    Alleged...that's the key word...never proven.

And one of his accusers admitted she lived in the same building as David Axelrod...quite a coincidence.

And I sure am glad you are not saying it's OK for a sitting President to seduce a young intern with his power...many on the left had no problem with it.

  5. Nope- this is another Herman Cain- this individual has a masters degree in computer science and was a member of our Naval Armed Forces.  He was so successful working at Burger King that Pillsbury promoted him to Chairman and CEO of Godfathers Pizza.  He also was Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City/Omaha.  He also served on the Board of Directors of several major companies as well as serving as the CEO of the National Restaurant Association.  While I am aware that he does not appeal to some because he does not employ the defiant/militant/hate approach, I still believe the aforementioned items are better leadership ingredients than being a community organizer and spending two years as a senator where "present" was the standard response for most voting activities.

Never have understood the hatred for this man...perhaps someone can explain it for me.

  6. And just an opinion here, if McCain hadn't suffered a serious lapse in judgment choosing that ditz, we might not even still be discussing Obama. And I greatly respect John McCain...

Greatly respect him for what...his military service?

I respect him for that also but as far as his political career, he's another squishy moderate that is a poster child for what is wrong in Washington.

And there is no way he would have won the election no matter who he chose.
  7. I'm not sure how long ago LumRaiderFan went to college, but i know it's been a while since you were there.  i've only been out 8 years, and i went to conservative AND liberal colleges, and i didn't feel particularly pressed upon by professors of either school. So even if they were liberal professors, i generally experienced classes that stuck to what we were supposed to learn. No doubt there are professors out there on BOTH sides who do try to push their ideals on their students, but it was MY experience that most of them did not.

So your view of how things work in the real world are based on your experiences only...get real.

Believe it or not, there are things happening out there that you haven't experienced!  :)

i actually spent 2 years at a regular, liberal(ish) college, and 2 1/2 years at a strictly conservative Christian college. It was my experience that the vast majority of college professors just teach you what they're supposed to teach you. Out of the however many professors i had (maybe 50 or so?), i'd guess less than 5 abused their position to try and push their views on their students, and they came from both schools. I also think that the college you choose is going to dictate how liberal your professors are for the most part. There are ultra-liberal schools, ultra-conservative schools, and most schools fall somewhere in between. Rutgers is obviously a very liberal school. I didn't agree with the war when we got involved however many years ago it's been now, but if i were the dean of a college i'd be happy to have Condi Rice speak to my students. But as i said in my original post, a super-conservative college would most likely complain about a very liberal speaker.

Article is several years old but I would think still accurate.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A8427-2005Mar28.html

    From the article:

By their own description, 72 percent of those teaching at American universities and colleges are liberal and 15 percent are conservative, says the study being published this week. The imbalance is almost as striking in partisan terms, with 50 percent of the faculty members surveyed identifying themselves as Democrats and 11 percent as Republicans.

Many professors are very liberal and many teach subjects according to their own view (I've been to college too), there's no denying that.

The left is much less tolerant of a conservative viewpoint that the other way around...just the way it is.

    From the article:

“There are some people who have very bad insurance, but they don’t know it because they don’t understand the fine print,” Obama said yesterday. Politico Pro reports that the President continued:

We said, “You know what, you’re right. You should be able to keep the health insurance you have even if it’s not very good. Even if you could get insurance on HealthCare.gov, you should be able to keep it.” And that’s the part of the law we’ve extended."
