10:15 pm...unbelievably power still on and have net access, wind is at around 60, lots of trees down. Power will go out any minute I'm sure. Last check of bayou was up to about 7 ft.

3:00 pm Update...water up about 4.5 feet over mean tide. Wind about 30 now.

Update...at noon, the water level at the Plantation Subdivision boat ramp on Trinity Bay was up about 3.5 ft and rising about 6 inch an hour now. Wind at about 25 mph. Glad I'm not on Galveston. La Porte, San Lean, Kemah/Seabrook, Bacliff, Tx City, Anahuac and lots of others will be under water before this is over. We're at 22 ft...but have the boat anchored if needed! We are boarded up, hunkering down and staying. On the North end of Trinity Bay, just south of I-10. Foundation is at 22 ft, so think we're ok with surge. Gonna be a wild night tomorrow though. @#$%....looks this is the one we dreaded since Alicia in '83. Gonna decide tomorrow if it is time to leave. Only hotel room I could find was in Kountze! Well...love that Mama Jack's. Live right on north end of Trinity Bay but foundation is at 21 ft. Hope its enough. As slow as this thing is moving it may even turn and go north and east of here. I know GT doesn't need another one of these either. Lets hope and pray for the best...good luck to everyone.

BH JV and Fresh got moved to tonite and will play Lee...haven't heard of any varsity games being moved to tonite.

Lumberton fans may have not executed well but their football team did! Very impressed with lack of errors, penalties and turnovers. LHS defensive intensity was something to be proud of. BH just doesn't have it yet, too young and too many breakdowns. Question is will they get it right this season (through district) or will it be next year?

After watching years of BH scrimmages, I can tell you Coach Price does not appear to care a whit about the score of of winning a scrimmage. Its usually a fire drill of players going in an out of positions they are new to. I've never been able to get a sense of the team's future performance from these scrimmages. Having said that, I still don't think we will be real strong this year. Defense and running back are big questions. But every year we seem to overachieve in the regular season!

When is the last time BH and PNG played? Seems like a long time.

I heard that High Voltage won the 14u championship after a long ride through the losers bracket

I heard there was a little scheduling chaos with no-shows, but we got our pool games off on-time and with no drama...umpires were fine. I didn't see anyone playing the 12:30 am slot when we left after our 11 pm pool.

EastTX...in no way was I hoping there would be a low turnout...simply observing that many teams would not be travelling a day early. Glad it turned out well. We'll roll in about 4 tomorrow ready to play!

I hope it goes well too and respect the effort that went into the preparation. I am afraid there will be a very low turnout for the opening ceremonies, pin-trading (and even the coach's meeting). Not too many teams from the Houston area are going to travel to Bmt a day early.

Congrats OC!! You guys put us in the losers bracket Sunday morning, so I was hoping you would go all the way We hit the ball hard, but you played flawless defense (and we didn't), not allowing us to string enough hits together to catch back up. Sounds like you kept that up all weekend. Way to go, ya'll deserved it! Man it was hot, 'specially for us grinding it out in losers bracket!

Sometimes you can work to put round robins together with local teams and avoid the travel. If it is a true select team, as opposed to all-star, avoid "all-star only tournaments". Entering those will get you negative press quick (as a trophy hunter), although its not as big an issue as 10U and older. Finally, don't take any advice from us 14u and older coaches, we have all become jaded and cynical and pretty much forgotten how fun 8U was! Just kidding (a little)...there is a wealth of knowledge on this board. Feel free to come on anytime to ask for advice.

So why did Ice no-show...any one ever figure that out? Wish Hold'em would have been invited to the greatest show on dirt...at least we would have shown up

BH is hosting a summer league for HS teams beginning next week. Two games every Tuesday evening thru June. I'm not the contact but info came home with DD today, so if HF, HJ, EC, Dayton, etc is interested they should contact Coach Chancellor at BH to get in.

Congrats!!! I'm a TJC grad and you'll love it there. Nice homey atmosphere and good basketball program!

FYI...For those interested in the PGC camp at U of H this summer, I got a notice that they are adding two camp weeks (Essentials and Think the Game). There was only one camp originally scheduled and it sold out early. Don't want to advertise for them on this forum, but if interested, check out www.pointguardcollege.com for the new dates. Must be at least an incoming HS freshman to attend. NOTE:My post above is 3 yrs old...so don't be confused...I was! I assume the one below is current info. PGC (think they are part of "Basketball Universtity" now) is an awesome camp.
