1.
I gathered a group of guys to form a select team. It's 15 year olds. If anyone could tell me, I'm wondering how do I create the team? What do I have to go do? Please help. Just want to play some ball!
Our boys just went thru 15U - last year - in our expirence - we found more 15U tournaments in Houston area under Nations vs U trip - also I will attach a link for 16U - 18u tournaments in Houston just about every weekend - unsactioned - but good competition - we see plenty of 15U teams at these 16U tournaments getting ready for HS. Good luck ! [Hidden Content]
 2.
.Can they still step to third and second with out throwing with a runner on?
with new rule -if a pitcher steps to third with runner on first he will concede 2nd base - the actual move rarely worked for pick off - but it did hold a runner closer to first on a high leg kick with runners at first and third - now stealing 2nd is much easier in that situ - they can go on first movement of front leg with RHP - huge advantage to base runner - IMO - don't like the rule change -

Fields too wet to play.... Rain, Rain, Rain, go away, Nederland wants to play....
i'm hearing these games were canceled for today also....anyone know this for sure?
Yes, canceled today. we were told 11am and 1pm tomorrow in Vidor
 6. Our boys played a 15U Tourn recently . There were several of the top BBCOR bats in the dug out .. All the boys ended up swinging the Rip IT bat .. They all said it had the largest sweet spot and the most pop. I can tell you the sound was closer to the classic aluminum ping .. All the other BBCOR bats sounded more like wood bats. ( which is really the goal of BBCOR). Haven't heard the Rip It is baned for high school play, it has a BBCOR stamp ??
 7. - 8 is legal in Nations if 13U and below. 14U has to be -5 or heavier. see below *** 7. In 14U bats will be restricted to a -5 ratio or heavier. (The weight of the bat in ounces as compared to it’s length in inches, must be no greater than 5). Weight restrictions are HIGHLY recommended for fall 2010, the restrictions will become mandatory Jan 1, 2011. 8. For age divisions 13U and below, there are no bat size restrictions. 9. High school divisions must use NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations) bat limitations for size, weight and performance. ***
 8. Looks like to me , if your bat is heavier than - 10, then there are no restrictions with Nations . ??
 9. There are some better bats out there , and you don’t want to go with a Wal-Mart special -  but honestly – It aint the bat. Been down this road. It is very easy to get caught up in the bat hype. Fell victim to it myself. The kid that has always had the highest BP and SLP on my teams for past 4 years, has always swung the most inexpensive bat on the team. Since 9U he has used the basic solid aluminum TPX Omaha - bout  a $135 bat and if you wait until  the new bats for the next year  are released you can get a new left over bat from previous year, for a very reduced price. They are the same bats , the new releases  just have better paint jobs. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Remember this is instructional baseball at this level. And the more at bats and times in the field benifit all of these kids. That is why there is the 5 run limit per inning , to keep the game moving. If you instate a mercy run rule, a lot of these games will only be 3 or 4 innings. There will be several teams that never play more than 4 inn. And we all know alot of coach pitch teams have 13-14 players, so your talking one or two at bats per game for some. Just something to think about before you push to hard for a mercy run rule at this level. Enjoy this level its fun and easy  ( We did score 25 once in a Pinto game in the 6th to win)
Very true but we play under house rules that the game is over via 10 run rule after 4 innings, then, we play the remaining time out, still keep score but it does not matter.  We use this to allow kids to play other positions and bat around and few more times. Can you elaborate on what type of instruction was occurring when the Indians were delivering a beat down in the 6th, adding insult to injury?  Was it teaching them to be better prepared for the emotional issues associated with having your rear handed to you?  I can assure you when a kid gets really hurt, at a meaningless point in a game such as this, the rules will change, the attorneys will make sure of that fact. I am all for letting the kids play and we do in Orange but we realize it is now a practice session and we don't run them as hard and let more batters up to the plate.
Please understand I'm not advocating running up the score. You are right, nothing instructional comes from 33- 3 score. I was just pointing out that limiting innings played in league may not be beneficial. That is a great idea of finishing the time limit after a game has reached the mercy rule. And yes, in tournament play 10 run mercy rule is indicated. Good luck to all !! , yall do a great job! Being a league volunteer is a very difficult and underappreciated job!!
 11.
As the park host, I brought up the 10 run rule or a Mercy rule of some sort to the Directors and it is a topic of discussion with the organization.  From what I was told, the regional director(maybe a Carl?) has final say and it is always turned down. I was at Ford Park early Sunday morning and Harold Hearn came and sat with me for a while and asked whey we were not playing with a 10 run rule in place and he is an advocate of the policy as well. Granted, if you are "close" in the 5th, you might be able to catch a team in the 6th but not when it is 27-3 to start the 6th inning. In the above post, when we put up 38 runs, the game was either 18 or 20 to 15 going into the 6th so it was a close game.  We just exploded and it was a double fest for a while. I really think those of us in favor will need to push this one to the top because from what I understood, since the 6th is unlimited, there will be no 10 run rule.  I would think 10 after 4 innings or for sure 15 after 5 should be a big help in protecting kids from further exposure to a beat down.  Another thing that is big to me is injury.  That shot the Indians coach took was solid, but what if that would have hit the player??  At the point that happened, it was an avoidable instance, the game should have been over long before that if a run rule was in place. I visited with our league President last night and he too is in favor and will bring it up at the next meeting. As most big games on Tues or Friday in district, defense wins the game.
Hester wins...Sweet want have another game like last Friday...Just my opinon..If it comes down to coaching I am going with Green :o But P.N.G does have a solid defence but......I got to roll with my KIN FOLK ;D MEAN GREEN GO GET "EM" CUZ
Don't underestimate sweet.  He is a very good pitcher, and gets overshadowed a lot by the other pitchers in the district.  He is a competitor, and will be ready to shut down that anemic vidor offense.
Anemic? Wow have you seen the points they have put up?
POINTS ???
Port Neches-Groves has scored 24 runs through three district ball games, proof that it can hit when it needs to. The same can be said for Vidor, which has scored 33 runs over the same period.

Is this a fair ball or dead ball?
Dead ball. It never was actually "fair" unless a player touched it in fair territority.
The ball was picked up by the catcher after the ball had rolled back and hit the bat. The catcher threw the ball to first ,batter called safe by ump at first base. Runner at 3rd scored. The opposing coach protested. The home plate ump didn't know what to do. Eventually they called my batter out and made runner return to third.
 14. Question : Batter puts bunt down , then drops bat, the bat is in fair ground, and runs to first. The ball is bunted fair , but has backspin and rolls back hits the bat again, and the ball stays fair. Is this a fair ball or dead ball? Is the batter out ? Or would it be considered a foul ball?
 15. FYI --- Marauder Park has added 3 more 13U tournaments for 2010.  3/27/10, 6/5/2010, and 7/3/2010. Go to Nations to register.
