1. Practices are made to be long, hard, and intense! This is why West Orange-Stark has the all-time winning percentage in school history! During the athletic period during football season, they practice in full pads just like after school (from 3:30-6:30, even if the sky is dark)! During the off-season, they hit the weights and use the "speed shoes" on track Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (during athletic period). On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they run with sleds on practice field! That's an example of how West Orange-Stark produces a winning football program and produces numerous college and even pro athletes! Go to their practices and off-season workouts and find out for yourself! You can also ask Coach T for more information!

Coach Durley was one of the most respected coaches ever to come out of our area. I played against some of his teams and they were very desciplend and respectful. I think to alot of his players he was way more than a coach.
Yes he really was very concerned about players well being and so was clifton ozen and willie ray smith.

I agree with you! Coach Alex Durley was a great coach! I compare him to Coach Herman Boone from Remember the Titans! The school board back in 1971 did what they had to do when they integrated both the all-white and all-African-American probably because of a desegregation order/lawsuit and that was hire a minority coach!
  3. Tougher opponents need to be on the schedule! This is one of the reasons why Lamar never got invited to the Sun Belt! Drop the Division II/III/NAIA schools like mentioned in past posts! I am so sick of seeing them on the schedule! It's getting them nowhere! This is probably why Lamar football had been losing money back in the late 80's resulting in its elimination (possibly the other reason is the oil bust/recession of the late 80's)!
  4. As an LU supporter, I am extremely disappointed Lamar wasn't mentioned! We were looking forward to going FBS but what happened? We have one of the best facilities in the Southland Conference and FCS! To me, that is a devastating to recruiting and to the local economy! What needs to be done to resolve this?

If he follows the same pattern, he will probably move a middle school coach up to take the job.  :-\
Maybe they bring Stump in, that would one-up Weak Brooke.  ;D

Are you talking about Cris Stump, who is at BC or Craig?

Liberty played DII Concord University last year. So not sure what your point is.  Also gotta be able to entice DI schools to want to come to Beaumont, Texas (voted saddest city in America recently).  ;D
;)
Beaumont wasn't "voted" saddest city!  Did you guys even bother to read the articles about it?
Lynchburg is more like Beaumont. It is probably boring but they have that skiing hill at Liberty and all of that other that. But bringing like Purdue, Idaho, Washington State, and UTEP would be a great thing for both schools! It is a great recruiting tool since high school football is a hotbed for talent here!
  7. If Lamar wants to go FBS, then they need to toughen their schedule and that means drop the NAIA and NCAA Division II schools and add tougher schools! Liberty University, which is one of the largest evangelical Christian universities on Earth is on verge of going FBS (could be Lamar's neighbor in Sun Belt) and they have FBS opponents on their schedule almost every year and they are very tough! Why don't Lamar have a tough schedule like them? Fans are not going to spend their hard earned money on tickets so they could watch like Langston, McMurry, or other Division II schools! Fans want game with tougher opponents like UTSA, Youngstown State, Delaware, and the like! Like said, Lamar needs to strengthen their schedule if they want to go FBS!

Nobody gave him a offer. He's under-sized and not fast compared to college football players.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or Mormon, for short! He wants to go on a mission before playing football! He hopes he can play for BYU once his mission is completed!
