  1. he wasnt even thought to be the best DE in the district by the coaches who watch film and play against him every week and some of yall think he should be nominated as one of the top 4 Defensive players in the area? you guys dont know much about football do yall.....
  2. Doesnt matter, they put in the subs before the second half was over. Lumbertons 7th grade lost 5 starters to grades and still beat LC 40-0. and im guessing Lumberton got better
  3. nope they changed the Overtime rule you get full points for a win in OT unless it goes to shootout. so Lumberton has 3 points and vidor has 0
  4. Lumberton was Undefeated and didnt score less than 30 points against anyone and didnt allow any points against their 1st team including Bridge City who they defeated 30-0
  5. Lumberton 6 WB 0 Poole 3 goals Brackin 2 goals Waldrup 1 goal
  6. NEW ORLEANS — He's played all but 20 snaps for a team competing for a national championship, but on the night he proved how much he truly means to his school, LSU's 317-pound left tackle wasn't on the football field. He was alone in his apartment, staring at a computer, trying to see through his own tears as he typed a message to an 8-year-old boy he'd never met. "Hey Michael," the note began, "I recently saw your story and wanted to have the honor to write in your guest book. My name is Ciron Black. " No one paid much attention to Ciron Black during LSU's final media session before Monday's national championship game against Ohio State. All-American Glenn Dorsey had his own podium, and reporters lined up five-deep to listen to coach Les Miles. Ciron Black will have "Mikey" written on his wrist tape Monday night to honor a young cancer patient. But when a member of LSU's media relations staff tried to seek out Black for an interview, he ducked and hid behind a teammate, grinning sheepishly when he was finally discovered. "I didn't write that letter," he said, "to get attention." Which makes his story that much better. While surfing the Internet Dec. 16, Black received an email containing a link to CaringBridge.org. He logged on the site and read the story of Michael "Mikey" Conger, an intense LSU fan who is battling cancer-related complications at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. In his healthier days Mikey wore jersey No. 70 when competing for his youth football team – the same number as Ciron. "I fell in love with the kid," said Ciron, who was so moved by Mikey's situation that he left this message on his guestbook: "I am the left tackle for the LSU Tigers football team. I'm also number 70 and I saw you wearing that jersey number, that's a great number by the way . You know some people see us as heroes because of how we play but the truth is people like yourself are the real heroes. I see all the small problems I face are nothing compared to the hardships that you may go through. God has a plan for all of us and for some reason he put it on my heart to write you tonight. If it is at all possible I would love to talk to you. My number is ***-**** anytime, day or night, if you need someone to talk to. Hang in there buddy and just know that anything is possible through Christ." Your friend, Ciron Black P.S. I would love to write your name on my wrist tape as I get ready to take the field on Jan. 7th for the national championship. Let me know if that is OK. He didn't know it then, but Black's gesture would end up touching Mikey and his family in ways he would have never imagined. Somehow, Ciron's letter made its way onto various message boards frequented by LSU fans. Before long a lengthy, well-written article appeared in the The Advocate newspaper in Baton Rouge. Television and radio stations in Baton Rouge and Tyler, Texas – Ciron's hometown – reported the story, too. Day after day, the word continued to spread. A woman – a stranger – who lost a relative to cancer sent Mikey a 42-inch, plasma TV so he could watch LSU's game against Ohio State from his hospital bed. Miles mailed Mikey a T-shirt that read, "This is What True Champions Look Like," and Ciron sent him the game ball that he was awarded for his performance in the SEC title game. Ciron made sure each LSU player autographed the pigskin. "At Christmas, his family sent me a picture of him holding that ball," Ciron said. "If what I did really made him happy, then that just makes my day. I just hope I was able to lift his spirits a little bit." Those closest to Ciron said they weren't all that surprised by his actions. LSU offensive line coach Greg Studrawa said Ciron, although soft-spoken, is one of the most well-liked players on LSU's squad. "When you see him on the football field he's a big, bald-headed guy that's mean and nasty and wants to kick your butt," Studrawa said. "Off the field, he's the team prankster. He never shuts his mouth. "He always wants to get in a joke or a barb. He wants everyone to laugh and feel comfortable and be happy. I think that's one of the reasons he wrote that little boy. He wants to put everyone at ease." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If what I did really made him happy, then that just makes my day. I just hope I was able to lift his spirits a little bit. — Ciron Black on his note for Mikey Conger -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary Fleet is the offensive line coach at Tyler Lee High School in Texas, where Ciron once starred. He said he shared the story of Ciron and Mikey with his current players before they left for the Christmas holidays. "I'm hoping it motivates them," Fleet said. "This wasn't out of character for Ciron at all. He's got a mean streak on the field, but he's also got a huge heart." Ciron said his character was molded by his parents, Sandra and Ronnie, both whom are preachers. Missing church was never an option, he said. Sometimes he had to be pushed in school but, when it came to getting into trouble, Ciron was never a problem. "The biggest trouble he ever got in with me was when his mother would call me when he wouldn't clean his room," Fleet chuckled. "She wanted me to punish him." Sandra was so proud of Ciron for reaching out to Mikey that she doted on him throughout the Christmas holidays. "Anytime someone came to our house at Christmas, she was telling them about it," Ciron said. "It brought tears to her eyes, which made me feel good. "She saw that her son isn't just playing football. He's trying to use his status to do something good." Pleased as he is that he helped bring Mikey joy, Ciron will be carrying somewhat of a heavy heart into Monday's title game. He said Saturday that the latest reports he's received about Mikey haven't been good. "He isn't able to hear," Ciron said. "His chemo is getting to him, and his eyesight is messed up." He pauses. "He's hanging in there, though — he's fighting," Ciron said. "They said they're geared up and ready to watch the game." Ciron knows there's a chance cameras won't catch it, but when he takes the field against Ohio State, the word "Mikey" will be written in black ink on the tape protecting his wrist. Just like he suggested in his initial email. It's small gesture, sure. But lately Ciron is learning that even those can go a long, long way. 7. Cody Leblanc from Lumberton was an All American LT at McNeese
  8. well I saw D. Johnson play alot this season and I was under welmed. He didnt make many plays and I noticed that when his stats came out that he only had 4 Tackles for Loss and 4 sacks. Considering Winbush from LCM had 10 sacks. Ward from Lumberton had 19 Tackles for Loss then I just dont see DJ being better than them or others. plus Nederlands Defense wasnt very good all year. So how do u give a guy 1st all-state and Defensive MVP whenever his defense couldnt stop anyone and his stats are underwelming. And the reason why Texas offered and signed him is bc hes 6'3" 230 runs well for that size and is a good athlete and they think they can work with him and maybe make him a player. They're was thread about Hussy and Johnson and who you would rather have. Well if your building a HS football team Hussy by far bc he is a much better football player but if your a college recruiter then Johnson is gonna catch your eye first just bc of his size. Does that mean hes gonna be successful? no but he has more potential and thats what colleges look for bc if he doesnt pan out then they will go find someone else
  9. they are probably gonna be in the same district so good chance its gonna happen
  10. Hussey was a great player but filling his shoes isnt the biggest problem its losing the entire secondary, 2 of 3 LBs , QB and 3 WRs. Beard (341 yards 9.74pc 5TDs) and Hanna (278yards 8.41pc 5TDs last season. Over 400 as a soph including 137 against Ned) will fill Husseys shoes and be fine. But What having Hussey did was keeping Beard and Hanna on Defense most of the game. Depth will be an issue and finding players to fill the shoes of the guys we lost but I think things are getting better in Lumberton. the JV went 8-2 the freshman team was pretty decent and 7th grade is another very strong group but it would be nice for 4A to go to 4 playoff teams and for Dayton to go back home to 21-4A
  11. lol he had 167 and 2 TDs and when we give our back up Tailback (Beard) a carry he bulls over everyone for 15 yards and takes 4 people to bring him down. BTW Hussey's run was 58 yards so he would still have over a hunderd nice try though hahaha
  12. 22 carries 167 yards 2TDs. 40 points total nice job stopping Hussey and Lumberton Anthony Beard also had 1 carry for 15yards. great job tackling there buddy
  13. Defenses MVP should come from a Defense that stopped people. And no DJ didnt have an impressive season.
  14. lol that was the dumbest statement ive ever heard. your right if Lumberton or Dayton would have had bad seasons then they wouldnt have gotten many people on there bc the players didnt play up to that level. But you know what they did and the coaches in the district recognized that. But as I said you cant spell but you must know who the best players in the district are
  15. Ozen and everyone elses Coaches must have disgreed with you on both matters. I dont think all 8 teams got together to screw kids. Apparently they thought Hynson and Beard were the 2 best LBers in the district and they thought the Wilcox kid deserved all-district. but apparently you went to every Lumberton and Dayton game while also being able to watch Ozen play so you know better than the coaches.
  16. the coaches voted on who made all dist I think they know alittle more than you do
  17. Jasper played Gilmer to a close game a few years ago and Newton and Burkville have both won state titles
  18. They did from time to time but Lumberton was able to keep them both on D since Hussey was able to carry the load but both did avg over 9 per carry. but the silsbee scrimmage hussey didnt play and beard started and had 2 TDs and around 80 yards in 2 qtrs against silsbee and against BC hanna had 2 carries for 102 yards and beard had 4 for 86 yards Nederland beard had 10 for 81 and a TD. Now Lumberton will have to rotate at the RB next season but I dont think they will be dead in the water. Not saying Lumberton will win district but that they will be very competitive next season
  19. no Pimp Smack is not i know who he is. he has never played a down for the raiders in highschool. i think he got kicked out in middleschool or something like that. trust me on this one
  20. actually pimp the OL has an extremely good chance to be better and dont forget Burkhalter played alot at Tightend in the 2 tight sets the last 4 games and he will take one of the guard or tackle spots. dont listen to pimp smack he never played football. but anyways Lumberton should be very competitive alot of core players coming back. 3 DL and the MLB and on O you will have 3 OL which contain your 2 best with Gilliam and Howden just have to fill some holes but Murrill will play some offense probably and a few young kids with some talent will probably fill the holes. Of course at RB Beard and Hanna will share the load and both avg over 9 per carry this year in limited time but they are very talanted. and at WR you will have Granato back and maybe Freeman, Keith who is the fastest of the group and Sparks who will help out. but thats along way away and will take a good offseason so we will see next year.
  21. Nederland didnt dominate Waller. Waller had over 300 yards rushing and Ned recovered 2 fumbles for TDs
