A Winnie land owner (and others) sued the State of Texas after they built IH-10 a few feet higher in order to help contain storm flooding. Sure enough a hurricane hit and flooded the land. The storm improvements worked!!

Unfortunately the state sacrificed several people’s properties in using the interstate highway as a dam. 

Richard DeVillier tried to sue Texas under our laws and Constitution and the US Constitution under the Fifth Amendment “taking clause” (eminent domain).

After a favorable ruling in the federal district court on the right to sue Texas directly, the Fifth Circuit Court in New Orleans overturned that ruling and said that the DeVlier had no authority to sue Texas directly. 

On Tuesday a unanimous US Supreme Court ruled that DeVillier and others had the right to sue Texas directly under Texas law and under the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution. The case is now sent back down to the lower court.

DeVillier and others have not won their lawsuits as the case has not been decided on its merits at a trial. He still has to go to prove his case.

What they did win was a unanimous Supreme Court agreeing that he has the right to bring Texas to trial for taking his property with just compensation. 
 

Surely we don’t know what will happen but the article implies that the investigation is based on criminal negligence and doesn’t even hint at terrorism.

He was probably there for a parent-teacher conference (maybe the only time the teacher was available) and brought his kids to get their side of the issues. 

I think the economics of this country is a crapshoot. (Honestly) I just believe that Biden is not physically/mentally up to play the role, rather have a president than a puppet. Trump is up in the polls he should stay away from the media and his ego and just ride the wave .

If it’s Biden or trump. And I have to choose. I’m leaning Trump. (I can’t believe this great country has given us these options. 342 millions Americans to choose from yet here we are)

I appreciate both of your stances.  The libertarian in me doesn’t disagree with Hippy, and the father in me has instilled in my son how to behave when the anthem is played.  It’s just that 80-90 percent of the time, they are still in the locker room.  

And let’s face it, that is a business.  Will Wade isn’t now making $700k a year at McNeese due to how his team behaves during the anthem.  Which is probably why he is using that time to final prep his team as well.  Right or wrong, those guys are coaching for their livelihoods and they all are trying to get the best use out of literally every minute of the day pregame to try and get the win. 

Where are our constitutionalist and 1st amendment folks. 
You can be mad, upset and not attend the games, but revoking scholarships? 
I think these Judges are stepping on the constitution limiting Trump's free speech.....I feel I would be a hypocrite if I didn't consider this anthem situation a 1st amendment issue as well.

Just read an article with more details than I'd been seeing: apparently the ship was having some sort of propulsion issue, and issued a mayday in slightly in advance.  People on both sides were able to stop traffic from entering the bridge, meaning there were very few vehicles affected.  It also sounds like most, if not all of the 6 missing people were part of a crew fixing potholes on the bridge.  I'm not sure why they weren't contacted and evacuated in time.

I am retired. Doing this on my own leisure.
I was asked by the owner and several local coaches to continue handling business here. Just doing it in a smaller role.
Retired or not, I did say that I would continue to post on the site.

Ironic. After our 3rd child was born, we decided that it would be better to stop daycare due to cost (mostly), and have my wife stay home with the kids. Not everyone can afford that... Luckily, @Box1 can tell us how we "have no idea or understanding on how anything works".

Location doesn’t matter. 
Take Mid and South County for example. In the last 5 years, PA has averaged 14.5 murders per 100,000 people. The 3 Mid-County cities with almost the same population as PA (56k-pa  v. 50k-mc) has 2.5 murders per 100,000 people. Adjusted for the slight population difference, it is 2.75.
So cities literally across the street from PA have  the same murder rate of about 3 per 100k people in MC to about 15 in PA.

Here is my cent and a half.....
I can only speak for me, but the wife and I both work. We used a daycare before he was in school and a couple hours in the afternoons when he was in school, until he was old enough to stay at home.  We hated summers because daycare went up because he was there more. I often thought if I had 3 kids, it would be cheaper for the wife to quit her job......Adding 52 (rounding up) full days to an already expensive bill could be devastating for some people.  Personally I like the 5 day school week, it mirrors most jobs they may get when they become adults. 

I can only say this. The 4 day school week for 2 working parent families is a tough thing to sort out.

I thought it would take about 3 days to move forward. It took 1.
