A search using the phrase 'Does UIL Texas require handshakes before or after competitions" returns: Yes, UIL Texas requires handshakes between teams before and after competitions as a sign of sportsmanship. This practice is part of promoting respect and camaraderie among athletes. Another search using a different search engine says UIL Texas does not explicitly mandate a technical handshake requirement. It's governed under the league's overarching guidelines for ethics and sportsmanship. I'm not going to search the entire UIL Texas Constitution and Contest Rules. But, it appears to be a core standard vs. a strict rule. Violations are handled by the local ISD to keep the UIL out of specific conduct enforcement. (I can see why that would be tricky for UIL.)
