District 9-5A D1 Thread 2026/2027
OlDawg replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Football
Curious what y'all think. La Porte is an open enrollment ISD. So, you don't hear me complain about transfers. But, when a coach is given an opportunity, then leaves for another opportunity they see as a step up, I'm not sure I'm fond of them reaching back to the school that gave them their opportunity in the first place and poaching top players from that program. I'd like to think there would be some type of 'gentleman's agreement' about that sort of thing. Probably naive on my part. But--to me--this is a little different than just the typical transfer situations we see on a regular basis. Thoughts, while we wait out the last 47 days? -

I didn’t take it that way. Have a good evening.

My apologies. I am not screaming at anyone.

We all know Obamacare destroyed healthcare but Trump has had the trifecta twice in DC! The excuses are nauseating!
-
Let’s see Trump has had the trifecta twice! Keep making excuses! Why hasn’t spending been cut? We are 40 trillion in debt. What’s so hard to understand about that? It’s one big party in DC! It’s called the Government Party!
-
Well let’s blame the construction worker for not having our house built on time instead of blaming the guy who burned it down. Hate has never fixed anything.

Senator Lindsey Graham Dead At 71!

He never claimed he would fix healthcare overnight. It's been 18 months. He led us to believe he had a replacement for ObamaCare. People have just become numb to corruption and lies. It has gotten so bad that November hasn't even arrived, and he is a lame president before midterms.
-
Well, it took years and years to establish the healthcare system we had. It took one administration to completely destroy it. Let’s hate Trump for not fixing it overnight. You know, congress could help a lot, but when democratic socialists abound, you can’t expect much. Keep the hate going. That will fix everything.
-
Name one that celebrated the death of a American war hero? Civil Rights person? or Senator? Remember, “ He knew what he signed up for.” RIP Sgt. David Johnson.
-
We are still waiting on Trump care 18 months later. Healthcare would be a major win.

Ain’t it funny how no one likes good news? There’s nothing to gripe about. Makes for a boring day when things show improvement. Healthcare is squarely on Hussein Obama, and education went south when Carter created the department.

Both parties including Trumps have just about equally ran up a 40 trillion dollar debt that has destroyed the dollar and just keep spending trillions more a year than we take in. They’ve destroyed healthcare, education, etc…The Uniparty is alive and well. Government serves government! What a celebration!!!
-
Anything else is fake news! Trump!
-
So you know for a fact that no sitting president ever celebrated a death? Washington? Jefferson? Lincoln? Roosevelt? Harding? Any of the first 20?? I didn't like that Trump did it but I don't think anyone can factually state that he is the only sitting president to ever do it.
-
Kudos to the girls but I'm strictly talking about football here no offense. That's where the majority of my posts you will see on here will involve only football and some basketball.
-
Gotta change that mindset, sports is only about football. Coldspring’s girls programs have been pretty successful lately.
-
This Trojan for one prays that y'all get the football program up and running so that the kids can have an opportunity to play and live in the district and also makes for new rivalries (for football at least). As far as our program goes the junior high kids is what we have to look forward to as far as the next talent goes although our JV was pretty decent this year.

He’s the only sitting president to have ever been attacked by the other side of the aisle with nothing but lies, spending $millions of taxpayer money, and brainwashing half the nation into believing it. He lowered the flag for Cummings and Lewis but not Jackson. Go figure. Can you say anything good about Graham? He was a senator from S.C. so I thought you might have an opinion on your elected leader.

He's the only sitting president to ever do that. It gets worse because he attacks deceased war veterans. He has no filter. He wouldn't even lower the flag for civil rights leaders.

Yes I have spent over a year building a collection of data on start up costs. New school opens in January. Once we are fully operational there our district will be able to analyze the costs with our budget. The toughest part starting a football program is the start up costs as even when we start Jh only first we still have to buy all the start up equipment for the field to host games etc. I am 100% trying to make this happen. We have 3 coaches total on staff with varsity assistant football coaching experience including myself but yes we will be bringing in more coaches. we are open enrollment and always have been in my ten years here (not sure how long it’s been that way but before my time for sure). The biggest benefit to us adding football will be keeping kids in district. I’ve lost many talented players to neighboring districts because we don’t have football. We have a super strict policy when the district lets kids in based on their test scores, grades and discipline. That stuff won’t change. I want to add football as soon as we can and working hard on it. The community is young enough now that the majority want it as well for their kids. We saw just from the few sports we added in soccer, golf and wrestling the increase in our athletic department numbers which is a great first step to what we want. I hope Coldspring finds a good AD, they have some amazing kids and lots of talent for all sports that they should bounce back very soon especially with what they have in JH currently.
