Questioning America's minimum wage has somehow become a rite of passage in the Republican presidential primary.

Michele Bachmann has said she wouldn’t rule out lowering it. Ron Paul has predictably said it should be eliminated entirely. And Rick Perry, in his book "Fed Up!: Our Fight to Save America from Washington", has rued the role the commerce clause played in "creating national minimum-wage laws" and "establishing national labor laws."

But when it comes to battling our $7.25-an-hour wage floor, these contenders have neither the vision nor the resume of current frontrunner Herman Cain.
Cain's time in the restaurant business was marked by a long and largely successful battle against minimum-wage increases, and even today, some 15 years later, many of the nation's waiters and waitresses have Cain and the restaurant lobby to thank for a federal minimum wage of $2.13 for tipped workers.
And that not the top 1% now is it????

Kind of I guess.

What it really means that if you have a minimum wage job and you are at the peak of your ability and have no hopes for any meaningful job, vote Democrat because that may be the only pay raise you get the rest of your life.

On the other hand you could actually finish high school, gets some training or college and do the unthinkable and show up for work on time, be a responsible employee, etc., and not worry about minimum wage as a career.

Agreed...no one should ever let any political party, union or any other group dictate your peak ability...in this country that is decided by you and how hard you are willing to work.

1970?    Rod Blagojevich, John Edwards, Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Elliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner will all tell you that this kind of stuff is acceptable.

Just more proof the the people will not let the Rep top 1% take over this country.... Public employee unions in Ohio celebrated a huge victory with the repeal of Senate Bill 5 on Tuesday night. The controversial piece of legislation would have eliminated collective bargaining for public employees' benefits

Mississippi voters Tuesday defeated a ballot initiative that would've declared life begins at fertilization, a proposal that supporters sought in the Bible Belt state as a way to prompt a legal challenge to abortion rights nationwide.

The so-called "personhood" initiative was rejected by more than 55 percent of voters, falling far short of the threshold needed for it to be enacted.
And this is just another Vote that the REP. Tea Baggers Lost

I know this goes over a few people's heads but again, the Bush tax cuts are federal taxes and Ohio is state taxes. The Bush tax cuts have nothing to do with Ohio. Your usual blame Bush cry is again wrong and not even in the same ballpark.

Bear in mind that the Democratic controlled Congress extended the Bush tax cuts and Obama signed it.

[/quote] I know this my be beneath you But as Soon as the Fed taxes get back into the system people will have more money to spend in the STATE STORES and and pay STATE TAXES that puts money back in the State Budget.. And Obama Did Extend the Tax cuts, not one of my favorites moves, And he has made a few misstakes and that was one of them.. But at least he has not gotten in to a Trillion dollar war( The report disavowed previous estimates of the Iraq War's cost as being under $1 trillion. the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan could cost taxpayers a total of $2.4 trillion dollars by 2017 when counting the huge interest costs because combat is being financed with borrowed money. The CBO estimated that of the $2.4 trillion long-term price tag for the war, about $1.9 trillion of that would be spent on Iraq, or $6,300 per U.S. citizen)

Let me get this straight, when the feds go up on taxes, the people have less money in their pockets to spend. Even though they have less to spend, they will then spend more on goods and services in their state so the state will get more taxes?

I've got it now. When you have less take home pay, you spend more.

Right.

TB has figured out the solution. If we tax people more and they have less to spend on their bills and luxuries, they will respond but spending even more.

Can someone other than TB explain that rationale to me.

President Barack Obama still holds significant leads among likely Latino voters over Republican candidates for the 2012 election, partially because most Latinos don't know or don't like the GOP field, As another women prepairs to hold a pres conference on Cain Sex assault...

Sorry but you are wrong (everyone else is stunned right?).

The Bush tax cuts were not only for the over $250K bracket but I am sure that you have been convinced of that. In fact almost everyone (except for those that don't pay taxes) got about a 3% cut in taxes.

My tax burden went down several hundred dollars a year and I am nowhere near the $250K bracket.

Sorry to bust your bubble............ well not really.
