WOS1986 Posted yesterday at 02:42 PM Report Posted yesterday at 02:42 PM I have been using that website on Dave Campbell Football for many years where I can see the schedule location playoffs since I love attend many games during the playoffs. However, it is gone and new design web page. Anyone know where can I find the information for the playoffs location and schedule? I would appreciate your input. Quote

They fixed the app to search for games by distance too. WOS1986 1 Quote

First use of the feature, you just have to set your location. With so many using VPN’s, I found it easier to just put in zip code and distance. Still only gives limited view on phone because of all the graphics. But, it helps. WOS1986 1 Quote

Honestly we would love for UIL to fall in line with TL. Just like they need the universal tiebreaker. Make it easy for fans without having to pay for multiple streams each week. Although I still feel since taxpayers fund everything already... it should be free on YouTube. Thanks for all the work you and the rest of DC put into this. Great show last night. I like the new interactive brackets on the app too Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
Matthew328 Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago Thanks for watching A point of clarity the UIL doesn't receive taxpayer dollars...their financial reports are public record The League's sources of income are: membership dues; participation fees; contest fees; open records productions; publication sales; the admission price for state level cross-country, swimming and diving, tennis, wrestling and one-act play contests; an annually determined percentage of admission prices for state level baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and marching band contests; an annually determined percentage of football and basketball post district gate receipts; proceeds from radio and television broadcasting and telecasting contracts; as well as proceeds from sponsorships and advertising. Thanks for clarification about the UIL. I was unaware. I was referring to the schools themselves. See the recent comment about LaPorte being forced by UIL to take the contract. Side thought... Regional band contests are basically playoffs for them. And free streams were allowed there. But I guess they see where the majority of money is made in the greatest state for HS football period. Soap box is still there if anyone else wants to step up. No pun intended lol Quote

No pun intended lol The vast majority of activities the UIL provides loses money...band is one of them...doesn't make them less important but they lose money they don't make money. Revenue from football a lot of times supports all the other great things the UIL provides for all students from sports, to fine arts, to academics etc Quote

I don’t mean to be argumentative, but UIL does receive taxpayer funding as a state agency operating through the UT Austin system. This gives them no cost office space, research needs, and operating budget money. Granted, it’s probably not a lot. But, taxpayers pay 10% of UT system costs, and UIL is included in that as an extension of their Continuing Ed system. So, they don’t receive DIRECT taxpayer funding. But, they DO receive taxpayer funds from the general fund paid into by the taxpayers just like any other state agency. Just wanted to make sure that was clear. WOSdrummer99 1 Quote

I would be willing to bet $ the fees the UIL pays to UT (568K) is more than what taxpayer benefits the UIL gets being a part of the UT system.... There are benefits to the UIL being part of UT but its not reflected on the most recent financials publicly available This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up AggiesAreWe 1 Quote

We don’t have all the data. You’d need to parse through UT’s numbers as well. But, if they’re paying more than the benefit they receive, they should do something about it. Goodness. Both are essentially state entities. This is like an internal transfer of funds using public money. UT gets 10% funding from the taxpayer. They—in turn—overcharge UIL for services/offices/etc. UIL then needs to find more revenue to support their mission. On and on ad nauseum. I know UIL gets a lot of flack, and my initial post about them pressuring people to join in with their preferred broadcast partners wasn’t meant to be a slam. They aren’t forcing anyone to do anything. It’s up to the ISD. With the new linear broadcast approval for 2027, I expect to see some changes in how all this works anyway. I also am waiting to see how new leadership affects things. I know public schools are hurting. I know Harris County raising our property taxes like they did pretty much wiped out many ISD’s attempts at more funding via VATRE proposals. Quote
