Thoughts on the upcoming season?!

With 7 offensive and 10 defensive starters returning along with 33 lettermen returning, I don't see them going 3-7 and winning just 1 district game this season.

DCTF has them being one of the most improved teams for this season.

I got them making playoffs.

I certainly think they will be better than last year if they learn to play defense which hasn’t happened in several years. With that being said, there is a very good chance that they will go 0-4 in non district with their schedule. A good buddy says that the coaching staff is weak

I think cutting out spring training with as many kids out for baseball as we have had did them favors too

I think our defensive staff has been the problem the last 2 years and nothing has changed except the personnel is a year more experienced...slight improvement but nothing to write home about...as bad as the district is i see no issue with Nederland making the playoffs

Best case IMO is 5-5 and finishing 2nd in the district. Worst case is 2-8 and finishing 4th. They're a playoff team because of how weak the district is beyond PNG. In my best case scenario they find a way to pick up a non-district win (super tough start to the season) and then only lose to PNG in district. In my worst case scenario they go 0-4 pre-district, which is a real possibility, and then get beat by Texas City, PNG, and Dayton in district.

Wow, I seemed to think that they were Sr-laden last season.  They'll have a new QB and RB, right?  It'll be interesting to see how they do in pre-district.

I think the key to this season is keeping the RB Ned healthy. Id also like to see improvement at the WR position cause it was awful last year

Per a quick search for the '25 season, it looks like the Bulldog JV and freshmen beat PNG JV and freshmen teams, and walloped Dayton.  I know that's not a tell-all indicator but it's better than being the other way around.  In comparison, I know that PNG's '22 and '23 Srs did very well from 8th - JV, and carried over to their Jr and Sr varsity seasons.

It does matter in the grand scheme of things for sure. It’s definitely not irrelevant in my opinion

Freshmen/9th grade is usually a strong indicator...JV less so IMO as a lot of the better sophomore and junior players may be on varsity instead, especially if the varsity team isn't as talented...on paper, Nederland should be more talented this year, but they have to show it on the field...tough pre-district can have 2 effects, strengthen the team or destroy their confidence...I am not at all against the way they want to play the game, but they have to get bigger and more physical and nasty up front (both sides of the ball) to execute on that type of gameplan...these games are far from meaningless and will help set the tone for the remainder of the season....as always, best of luck to the Bulldogs!
