rupert3 Posted May 24 Report Posted May 24 Lambert had 105 pitches in 5 innings and we had good D and O for him. Gonna be hard in Arlington but it can be done, Alvarez should be back Quote

Walker is amazing. Hope Alvarez comes back soon. rupert3 1 Quote

These are their numbers for this season: Dubon: .265 AVG, .317 OBP, .717 OPS ($6.1M) Allen: .297 AVG, .366 OBP, .771 OPS ($1.4M) Its ok to love Dubon and not hate Allen or the deal. Quote

But at the time Dubon IMO was the best utility man in MLB. Allen is good but was unheard of at the time. Just saying. Only 4.5 back. Quote

I understand the numbers and why things are done, but the way I look at it, swap players and swap their money, but Atlanta was willing to pony up for Dubon. The stats show the Astros made the better deal, but it was a gamble just to save some bucks. Maybe this is why I’m not a general manager. Lol Quote

Little more than just averages need to be examined when Nick Allen has a total of 11 hits on the season and is a career .214 hitter. He went 3 for 3 today with his first homer in 2 seasons to boost his average over 60 points. Yes, money was the issue and Dubon had to be moved to avoid luxury tax, but comparing these 2 guys is a stretch. My uncle says hello, btw. Quote

I only made the comparison (actually, got the comparison off an X post) to show what the Astros were getting for $4.7 Mil less. Houston couldn't keep Dubon. I believe they got what they were expecting in return. A decent player off the bench. rupert3 and myrecordwashorrible 2 Quote

They are actually #1 in that category of combined no-hitters. No other team has more than 2. What an odd stat. 4 in the last 8 years. They now have 18 total no-hitters which is tied for 3rd in all of baseball. Amazing when you consider how young the franchise is ('62). They surpassed the Reds tonight who have been in existence since 1882 ("modern version"). Tied with Red Sox, Cubs, and Giants as of tonight. The Mets, same season of inauguration as the Astros have 2 in team history. Edit here as I found one more stat...since 2022 the Astros have more no-hitters than all other teams COMBINED. Just an amazing statistical anomaly. baddog and AggiesAreWe 2 Quote
baddog Posted May 26 Author Report Posted May 26 Google search. Javier and Pressley were in on two of the combined no-hitters. The Houston Astros have thrown five combined no-hitters in franchise history, the most by any team in Major League Baseball. Their most recent combined no-hitter occurred on May 25, 2026, when Tatsuya Imai, Steven Okert, and Alimber Santa shut down the Texas Rangers. www.espn.com +1 A chronological list of the Astros' combined no-hitters: May 25, 2026 (9-0 win vs. Texas Rangers): Pitchers Tatsuya Imai (6 innings), Steven Okert (1 inning), and Alimber Santa (2 innings, Major League debut) combined to secure the no-hitter in Arlington. June 25, 2022 (3-0 win vs. New York Yankees): Pitchers Cristian Javier (7 innings), Hector Neris (1 inning), and Ryan Pressly (1 inning) shut down the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. August 3, 2019 (9-0 win vs. Seattle Mariners): Pitchers Aaron Sanchez (6 innings), Will Harris (1 inning), Joe Biagini (1 inning), and Chris Devenski (1 inning) combined for the no-no in Houston. June 11, 2003 (8-0 win vs. New York Yankees): Starter Roy Oswalt was forced to leave the game in the 2nd inning due to an injury, but relievers Pete Munro (2.2 innings), Kirk Saarloos (1 inning), Brad Lidge (2 innings), Octavio Dotel (1 inning), and Billy Wagner (1 inning) successfully closed it out in New York. World Series: November 2, 2022 (5-0 win vs. Philadelphia Phillies): In a historic postseason feat, Cristian Javier (6 innings), Bryan Abreu (1 inning), Rafael Montero (1 inning), and Ryan Pressly (1 inning) no-hit the Phillies in Game 4 of the World Series rupert3 1 Quote
baddog Posted May 27 Author Report Posted May 27 The inning from hell killed the Astros today. Played well the rest of the game. Something told me the Rangers would come out fired up after the no-no. That’s baseball. Alvarez with 2 HRs and 4 RBIs. rupert3 1 Quote
rupert3 Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 Nice win 4-3 Yordan 2 dingers again 19 qnd 20. Good pitching by Burrows. King made it interesting again as Pedersen hit his 2nd dinger off him and De Los Santos closed it out nice AggiesAreWe and baddog 2 Quote

rupert3 Posted May 29 Report Posted May 29 We home run team in this series. Weird conference 1st place team under 500. I think we 2.5 or 3 back Quote
baddog Posted May 29 Author Report Posted May 29 Great catch by Cam Smith to rob a HR. Alvarez with 5 HRs in the series. Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted May 30 Report Posted May 30 Astros lose to the Brewers last night, 5-4 in 10 innings. Houston had the bases loaded with 1 out in bottom of 9th but failed to score. Mathews struck out on three pitches (last one looking) and Parades flew out. Brewers scored their run in the 10th on two sacrifice flies. I hate that extra inning rule with runner on 2nd. Alvarez went 0-4 with 2 K's, one in the tenth inning with runner at 2nd. Santa took the loss without giving up a hit or a walk. Just doesn't seem right. rupert3 1 Quote
