Lamar University

No.  Or should I say, if I was the PA Coach, I’d say no.  Why play a team right in their home town?  Then there are no stadiums big enough in this area parking and seating capacity to fit the expected crowd.  And it seems like if both teams have to travel, it’ll be an equal distance.  Baytown….

No love lost between LU and Beaumont ISD? 👀

It's really not a BISD thing but that plays a little into it.

Lamar just doesn't care to host high school games.

Maybe that thought process has changed with new admins but they made it clear a few years ago that they wanted no part of that business. Was charging a very high price for rental of stadium and then supplied really nothing as far as concessions or security.

I need yall to win so we ain’t gotta travel far next week

If God does smile on us tonight and we do pull off the miracle that no one is expecting, why not just play us at our home field in Beaumont again?  I mean you all did beat us there a couple weeks ago, 62-0 right?  I'm quite sure Coach Dre would even let y'all sit on the home side this time...😄

Lots of talk about what district was the best.  11-5A has been eliminated from the discussion after getting swept by 12-5a.  What will the records between the two districts be after round 2?

Pick the record and who you think the winners will be.

(12) A M Consolidated vs (9) PA Memorial

(12) Austin Anderson vs (9) Barbers Hill

(12) College Station vs (9) B United

(12) Pf Weiss vs (9) Lufkin

Picks in bold

(12) College Station vs (9) PA Memorial

(12) Pf Weiss vs (9) Barbers Hill

Weiss is tough to defend. They don't just throw long, lower pct. bombs or quick outs. They throw it all over the field to at least 3 excellent receivers, and a RB. They also have a sneaky good run game. Plus, when you get a good pass rush on the QB, he's athletic and quick enough to pick up big yards on the ground. With all the offense, their D gets overlooked. But, they can shut down the run game.

La Porte had them shut down. Let them get away. Now, they're on a roll. A lot of confidence. Will be a very tough out.

CS & PAM--to me--is more a toss-up. CS QB isn't near as good as Weiss' IMHO. CS needs a solid run game effort. Weiss can win without one. If Weiss gets 100 ypg rushing, that's enough for them. They've also got some really big boys on the lines. Maybe two of the biggest I've seen this year.

I'm going with a split. But, PAM is gonna need more than Martin running the ball.

Well I only seen him play one game but he looked like top tier orchestrater of their offense.  I don't really even remember an incomplete pass from him that night...

I didn’t say he was bad, or even just average. He’s solid. But—if you have TL—watch Weiss dismantle Lufkin for comparison sake.

Lufkin thought they had a solid, physical D. Then, they played a red hot Wolves team.

That’s the problem… THEY THOUGHT. Lufkin defense was never good this year. Sorry Lufkin fans, but when you having issues and worried about teams u should blow out… when played them, imo they were not conditioned. Looked like every other drive someone was laying on the ground. So to use Lufkin, that’s a poor example

PAM 30-0 over Lufkin. But, 10-0 at half if I remember correctly.

Weiss 52-14. Game was basically over before halftime. Lufkin scored a garbage TD with about a minute left.

Yeah we could have easily put 42 on them easily but slowed the game down. Keeping in mind they never been shut out at home in over 30years. I lurk on their board and they straight up know the defense isn’t good. PAM has proved time and time again, second half is a different story. I personally don’t like it, but the halftime adjustments are incredible.  Just like this past Friday. When you have everyone in the state saying PAM defense is legit best believe it. Beside Lufkin homers, nobody talked about Lufkin, except how down they were.
