I agree with Orangefield being in top 10. We have no chance of moving up basically as our district isn't viewed as well as some others so unless someone above us loses more. I do think Trinity should be ranked at least 23-25 range and they will be a major player in D1 region 3 for 3A.

I can see OF at 10. But I didn't understand why EC dropped a spot. I think they should be in the 11-14 range.

Yes I agree. I was surprised by that as well. I also think London not being 1 is kind of crazy. I get Madison and who they play but winning should count for something. I thought maybe the West Fork win would help us some as that was quality 5A but apparently not.

London should be #1.

I think EC is better than Fairfield, Crystal City and Goliad.

Any chance BC gets moved back into the rankings?

with a 14-9 record it's going to be kinda tough. if they sweep district they may have a shot in some of the last rankings of the year.

Just asking since 5/6 of their losses since football players got back were too 5a/6a teams.

Did not know that at all

I know I'm late to this comment, but a good friend of mine played on that 81 BC team. That year, they lost 2 games by a total of 3 points to Hebert. At that time, only the District Champion went to the Playoffs. So BC missed out. Hebert then went on to annihilate everyone by 20+ in the playoffs to win State. Per my friend BC was ranked #2 in State in the last poll of the year, and didn't make the Playoffs. Interesting fact- Al Barber from Deweyville, was there Coach that year. He went on to take the Lamar Lady Cardinals to the Sweet 16 10 years or so later.

not bad teams, for the most part. but the only schools that get leeway with their losses in the rankings are the dallas and houston area schools (and silsbee, for several years) who are playing top-10 6A-5A teams throughout their pre-district schedule.

Really excited for Orangefield's team this year. We beat EC by 20 last Friday and should have beat them by 30. We missed a ton of free throws and easy putbacks. Really proud of the way we have gelled as a team, really starting to find our rhythm. Finishing up the first pass through district next Friday against Kountze. Anxious to see if we can keep the momentum going through the second half and into the playoffs. Sky really is the limit for this group.

Seems Mr. Ernst received my thoughts. Looking at Frisco Heritage and Mansfield Summit’s schedules and roster, I don’t think either could beat BU or WB. Josh Howard’s son won’t be enough by himself

After watching the defending state champs in person last weekend, it’s no way on earth there are 4 better teams in class 5A. This team has an enhanced/ upgraded roster from a team that truly went 39-1 last year (that forfeit was a joke)

I’d say the GASO poll is off also. My top 5 teams in order are:

1A- BWB

1B- BU

3-Birdville

4- Frisco Heritage

5-CC Veterans Memorial

🤣🤣🏁

I think the Mansfield schools should be in that top 5.

Yes but head to head in San Antonio I doubt either of the Frisco schools or Mansfield schools can beat BU or WB. A young man named Tre Johnson and a freak finger injury to Dotson in a regional final game are the only two reasons why BU doesn’t have two more state championships.

Howard might not be Heritage’s best player.  He and Cam Lomax are very good.  He is going to SMU, so they will be ok if you think Howard will have to do it all by himself.
