Thoughts for BU basketball upcoming 26/27 season
tcufrog replied to Dakrow77's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Don't really know. Just know about the bigs. No idea about JV or JH's. Just impressive that BU could loose that much talent and still be favored over the team that went undefeated in district last year. I know West Brook lost some key pieces just expected them to be able to somewhat replace them. Will be interesting to see how it unfold over the next few months. -

Favored over West Brook? That says something about the depth at BU. -
What about West Brook? They had a couple transfer in last year? Are they all staying put?

Not just in Silsbee. This is the new norm across the state

District 9-5A D1 Thread 2026/2027
tcufrog replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Football
Any word on how teams are looking this spring? Will the top 4 come from? LaPorte Port Arthur Memorial Beaumont West Brook Lufkin Beaumont United Who could sneak in the top 4? 6A New Caney, played lots of young kids last year, didn't have a lot of success but will those youngsters develop? I know that they played BH early and were somewhat competitive. Don't know much about them or what GCM has coming back, but either look like they could be in the mix with a little improvement. Will be an interesting race I feel like. 9 teams is brutal -
Any update?

TABC State Rankings/Updated Feb. 23 FINAL RANKING
tcufrog replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Howard might not be Heritage’s best player. He and Cam Lomax are very good. He is going to SMU, so they will be ok if you think Howard will have to do it all by himself. -

Just curious who will be third. It was said like there is a clear cut 3 seed. I assume BU, BWB, but just curious who it seems is so obvious in the 3 spot. Am I missing something? -
Lots of talk about what district was the best. 11-5A has been eliminated from the discussion after getting swept by 12-5a. What will the records between the two districts be after round 2? Pick the record and who you think the winners will be. (12) A M Consolidated vs (9) PA Memorial (12) Austin Anderson vs (9) Barbers Hill (12) College Station vs (9) B United (12) Pf Weiss vs (9) Lufkin

Top four are going to be PAM, Lufkin, BH and West Brook. Will be interesting to see who improves the most over the next few weeks. I think all have shown reason why they could win the district as well as finish 4th. Lets see who continues to improve and how injuries will start to play a big part.

Oak Cliff Faith Family Leaving UIL

Not sure this is an accurate statement. Schools like FF pick and choose who they want. In there case high level basketball players. Still a whole lot of kids that will have to be educated that don't fit this category or in other cases parents wont be able to afford private schools. It may change things for some, but extinction is probably a little to strong of a description. -

Can Hardin Jefferson make it to the Regional Tournament
tcufrog replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Will be some good second round matchups for HJ and Silsbee HJ will probably play Center/Chapel Hill runner up or Palestine third in 18 Silsbee second round matchup of the runner up of Bullard/Jacksonville will be better than most realize. Jacksonville has most of there team back that lost in OT to Highland Park in the second round of the 5a playoffs last year. HP ranked #10 in the 6a poll this week. Bullard will have a 6'5 guard who is the real deal. Won the state in the 4a high jump last year. Bullard has some kids that can stroke it. Not saying they will lose to any of these teams but if you are looking to far ahead and dont play a good game in the second round these guys are good enough to upset some plans down the road. -

Tournaments weekend of Dec 8-10
tcufrog replied to UNT-AggieMan's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Hardin Jefferson, I know they are looking for a team. Central Heights also hosts one that weekend. -
Lufkin is hosting 6a Region II tournament. UIL needed a more central location for 6a region. Lufkin loved hosting the 4A region and would have been happy to continue, but UIL asked them to do this and they did.

A couple of facts since everybody seems to be an expert on Lufkin now. 1. Lufkin is 15-2 now 2. Lufkin's best post player did not suit up. He is their 1st or second best player depending on the night. 3. I am not sure I would call Lufkin's schedule extremely weak. Not as good as Crosby's, I would agree. Played @ College Park who was a preseason top 5 team in Houston in some polls, went to Dallas to play SOC, West Brook, HJ, Center and went to Silsbee. You are right some are smaller teams but all those are ranked smaller teams. I am not saying that Lufkin deserves to be ranked, just disagreeing with the extremely weak schedule part. Just trying to clear up some of the misinformation on this thread.

Lufkin is 15-1. Lost to SOC 63-47 in the thanksgiving Hoopfest in Duncanville. Have played last 10 or so games without big man. He is a difference maker if he plays.
