Here's what I found on the UIL site.  Now I'm sure the form will be fibbed just a tad.

No participation yet: If the student hasn't entered a UIL contest at their old school, they haven't established eligibility there for that season in that specific activity according to UIL's definition of participation.

Previous Athletic Participation Form

(PAPF): Regardless of prior participation, any student who transfers and wants to participate in UIL activities must complete a PAPF. This form helps determine the reason for the transfer.

He has participated. Would be no different than a player transferring after playing last season. If it is determined the transfer is for athletic reasons (which this one would clearly be) then he will be ineligible. I can't see any DEC ruling him eligible. No matter if he establishes residency.

Also, the word I am getting on this situation is this young man has got the wrong people in his ear telling him he doesn't have to go by the team rules. They had some issues last season. Not a team player. Thinks he is above the team and should be treated special. He came in this season with the attitude that you can't win without me so therefore treat me that way.

Brenham will never sign off on him and whatever district he transfers to (if he does) that DEC will not rule him eligible.

I will say, if he were to transfer, his best bet would be with Navasota. It's possible that the two Fort Bend schools (Crawford and Willowridge) along with Stafford, could vote in his favor just to keep the opportunities open for themselves when transfers come their way. He would need to transfer now so that DEC can make the ruling. Next year a different DEC could be in play with realignment.

He would still have to sign that form regardless, even if he took choir, the wording of current and previous in the articles defines time.  We are in current season and no participation has started so we'll see how this goes, chances are he's probably going to blow his HS career.  I'm kind of excited to follow this one.  I agree he should just suit up and get to work.

2A DII Burton. smh

Let's see if Bartlett, Granger, Iola, McDade, Milano, Snook and Somerville agree to this transfer.

Burton is ranked #25 in state in 2A DII. Fellow district mate Granger is #18.

In their region (Region IV) is #2 Shiner, #12 Junction, #14 Falls City and #22 Brackettville.

Burton is 12 miles east of Brenham on Hwy 290.

Known for it's smokehouse. Love their sausage.

If he does get to play… that #25 ranking will likely change lol

UIL rules on transfers stink. if a parent wants their child to play at a different school, they should be allowed transfer immediately with the exception of no in season moves. No more sitting out a year garbage. Everyone wants school choice until it comes down to football. why would you want someone who doesn't want to be there? Parents move their kids for academics all the time. They don't make the kid sit out a year. So what if the move was for athletic purposes. If athletics is part of the school curriculum then parents should be able to put their kid in the best possible spot without any say so from the former school. This has got to stop.

Maybe because academics is what school is for. Sports is extracurricular and not mandatory. It's a privilege, not a right.

Most do not want school choice.

Sports is not part of the curriculum. It's extra. One can go thru K-12 without playing any sports and graduate.. One cannot do that without taking some English or math class.

That's the difference.

Question would be has his family moved into the district. If they have a verified residence then he might get eligible. Most likely go to the uil executive committee

If it's ruled he moved for athletic reasons (which this clearly is), then residency won't matter. He will have to sit a year.

I agree, after the DEC rules him ineligible, I can see them appealing it to SEC.

He actually suited up for the Saturday night first contact practice at brenham, so he's probably not going to play this year except in practice.

If he wants to play, that will be his only choice if ruled ineligible.

I have seen former varsity players at one school have to play JV at their transfer school. Didn't matter if they were all state or not.

Correct, varsity players can play JV.  the exception to that is all state honors as the article states.

What former all state player did you see have to play JV?  Or did you see a varsity player play JV without all state honors?

What article?

I honestly don't think All-State has anything to do with eligibility and playing JV. That would be news to me.

Under University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules, an all-state varsity player is generally allowed to play on a sub-varsity team (junior varsity or freshman) as a double-header, but not to drop down permanently.

Restrictions on "playing down"

An all-state varsity player cannot permanently move to a sub-varsity team, especially if the player is a senior. The UIL and many local school districts have rules to prevent athletes from purposefully dropping to a lower competition level to dominate.  Most of this can found ch400/403 subchapter M

I know he isn't a senior before you single word out*
