AggiesAreWe Posted September 18 Report Posted September 18 Astros with a sweep of the Rangers. Win 5-2. With the Seattle loss, Houston is 1/2 game up and 5 games up on Texas. Javier with a solid 6 innings to get the win. King with a 4 out save. Quote
rupert3 Posted September 18 Report Posted September 18 I think we need to go 4-2 in the last 6 at least. Rough weekend ahead. 7-2 would be a good finish Quote

rupert3 Posted September 19 Report Posted September 19 Paredes starting tonight as DH. We will see. Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted September 19 Report Posted September 19 1 minute ago, rupert3 said: Paredes starting tonight as DH. We will see. Correct. To make room for him, Astros put Alvarez on the 10 day IL. That IL move sets an all time MLB record for the most IL transactions in a season with 29. Breaks the record of 28 set by the 2019 Yankees. 29 IL's!!! If someone had told me Houston would have that many with several key players and pitchers within those IL's before the season, I would have predicted them to finish well behind in the divisional race and no way they make playoffs. But here we are tied for first with 9 games remaining. If any team has an excuse to not make playoffs, it's the Astros. rupert3 1 Quote
rupert3 Posted September 19 Report Posted September 19 Good job by manager and general manager and others. Still hard to believe. It's hard not to make bad decisions, but over all they have done pretty good moving players all around the organization llike they did. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote
rupert3 Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 What can I say 3 hit 4 home run shutout for Mariners. Just can't score for Hunter. Full game back gotta rebound tomorrow. Quote
spidersal Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 Hoping that Cleveland doesn’t pass the Astros for the last wildcard spot Quote

He's definitely a "glass half empty" guy. Astros are not just 1 game back of Seattle, but they are also just 1 game back of being the #2 overall seed in the AL. Lot's can happen over these last 8 games and they all are not negative like someone would lead you to believe. rupert3 1 Quote
spidersal Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 I take it you 2 have not been watching them play lately. I have and they have not played very good I give you two credit, at least y’all are hoping for the best Quote

rupert3 Posted September 20 Report Posted September 20 Woo was a pretty good pitcher last night and so was Hunter. So I guess there was an offset somewhere. It fell apart more when Bullpen took over and kinda went downhill from there.. They will come back I'm sure. Quote

When Correa leads off with a double and he doesn’t advance at least one base, that’s pretty disheartening. I can live with the “4” but the “0” has to go. I don’t think we had a man get to 3rd last night. Astros will win the next two and be up a game……from the eternal optimist. I don’t throw in the towel until I am mathematically eliminated. rupert3 1 Quote
rupert3 Posted September 21 Report Posted September 21 Pretty dismal right now 7th inning 5-0 and leaving fokjs on base. Need a miracle and some heros. Quote
rupert3 Posted September 21 Report Posted September 21 Well had heroes but no miracle. 6-4 loss. Score was better than the game was. 2 back hard hill to climb now but still time. Quote

Houston will now need outside help to win the West and will need to finish at least no worse than 4-3 in final 7 games to make playoffs. Got to get a win tomorrow. rupert3 1 Quote

rupert3 Posted September 21 Report Posted September 21 It can be done but chances are slimming down. They have had these late slumps before and somehow bounced back. Leaving folks in scoring position doesn't help. BTW close is only good in horseshoes and hand grenades. Quote
spidersal Posted September 21 Report Posted September 21 I would not call 12-11 very good. Appears that they are choking the pooch. They better win those last 2 series or they will be sitting at the house Quote
rupert3 Posted September 21 Report Posted September 21 Pena scratched for tonight. Left oblique soreness. Quote
