Also, that turf at Woodville is the wood chip filler type. It stays much cooler than the rubber pellet filler turf fields. That turf would not have caused those type injuries. Quote

No. But I do know many teams do bear crawls on their turf fields and I have never heard of any athlete complaining about getting burns or blisters from the turf. The likelihood of someone getting burns or blisters from bear crawls on a track are much much higher than doing that on any turf field. I think most folks would understand that difference. But I see that if one person got burns or blisters from bear crawls on turf while 100's got it while on a track, you would see it as the same. The point being, if that activity had to be a choice, then it would have been much more sensible to do that activity on the field and not the track. If you cannot see that, then I can't help you. 89Falcon, Reagan and Mr. Buddy Garrity 3 Quote

Athletes don't always complain about these type of injuries. That type of behavior is just not encouraged in athletic circles. You know that. Mothers don't always take their children to the ER for burns/blisters and if they go to the ER they're not always referred to the burn unit. Scenarios just don't always play out like this but if they did lots of coaches would constantly be in trouble. There was a 7th grade girl who publicly complained of 2nd degree burns she got from bear crawls on a turf field last April in Caldwel though. And turf gets hotter than grass or asphault regardless of what type of filler is used by the way Quote

Also, whether the turf is hotter or the same is irrelevant. Enjoy your irrelevant analogies. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next. Quote

Bro I really don't feel like even entertaining you because your motives aren't genuine at all but to answer your question there was only one girl complaining at Caldwell because there was only one girl participating in the exercise. Meanwhile there were 10 complaints about a bear crawl incident in Crandall a couple years back. Quote
wo-s#1 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago What exactly is the tik tok challenge is the big question,it may be the fact of doing bear crawls ON A HOT TRACK Quote

I ve been part of many strength and conditioning programs…I used common sense all those years and still do. dont know the guy. don’t have any feeling either way on him, but come on we all know what it feels like when human flesh touches something hot….like running across concrete or asphalt barefooted. We have all learned that at a young age. no not super critical just using common sense. it is what it is….he made a poor decision due to not using common sense. U can make it out to what u want. So pointing out a lack of common sense while suggesting turf doesn't make sense to me Quote

I was at la Porte in mid 2000s when we got turf and yeah it felt like my soles on my shoes were melting off. Quote

I think your probably a bball guy and bear crawls in general are more of a football thing anyway. The guy you quoted was suggesting the field next to the track which is turf. Quote

Now you just sound like your trying to point fingers or lead the convo elsewhere with your unnecessary points to try to disqualify common sense. i played both sports and coached both sports….that’s irrelevant….doesnt take a football only guy to understand HOT + FLESH = BURN…..a 2 year old learns this pretty quick in life. So nice try. i can see this is going no where. ✌️ 89Falcon 1 Quote

AggiesAreWe Posted 1 hour ago Author Report Posted 1 hour ago If I have to do bear crawls and my only two choices is do them on is an asphalt track or wood chip filler turf, I am taking the turf each and every time. But I have common sense. If I am a coach and my choices are an asphalt track or a wood chip filler turf to have my athletes do bear crawls on, I am choosing the turf. But I have common sense. FYI, Woodville ISD and any other schools that have the wood chip filler turf fields have to put water on these fields regularly to keep the wood chips from getting too dry. This keeps them cooler than the rubber filler turf fields. I am 100% certain that the field at Eagle Stadium was cooler than the track that day. Quote
