Legalized Theft!!! ( Copied Post)

Nothing will radicalize you faster than seeing:

Gross Pay: $50,656

Take Home: $32,723

Taxes Taken: $17,932

And that's BEFORE:

property taxes

real estate taxes

vehicle taxes

sales tax

grocery tax

gas tax

tolls

registration fees

insurance taxes & fees

capital gains tax

interest tax

business taxes passed onto consumers

They tax you when you earn money.

Tax you when you spend it.

Tax you when you save it.

Tax you when you invest it.

Tax you when you own property.

Tax you when you die.

Meanwhile the average American is struggling harder than ever to survive.

And somehow:

healthcare sucks

roads suck

housing is unaffordable

retirement feels impossible

groceries are insane

& the cost of living continues to go up!

Absolutely insane!!!

Not to mention, I just paid our tolls from our trip to Florida, where we go through NC (tons of tolls there) & our toll bills from FL & NC were over $400! One days worth of driving through NC, was like $120????

How can that be??? Makes no sense to me.!!

At what point do Americans stop pretending this is Normal!

To many selfish people on both sides of the aisle .who serve their own greed.  We ve elected too many people who have forgotten who they actually serve.

We will eventually have a collapse of the working class.  what you mentioned above is not sustainable.  And how our young adults and children are being groomed and manipulated with Big tech is just speeding up the process.
I don’t want to be cynical but look at the evidence, patterns, trends.  The citizens are not blameless.

i see parents buying 400$ bats. 120$ bags, 100$ cleats, 150$ gloves driving all across the country(gas, hotel$), paying dues.  Playing with a ball on Sundays when they should be in church….

To many priorities are out of sorts from lower class to the elite.

Stephen's on a roll!

I find it hilarious that Trump wanted to cut Federal spending with DOGE, not enter into new wars, and was spied on by FISA/Patriot Act mechanisms, but is now slamming someone who voted—and continually votes—to cut the deficit, was against the current Iran conflict, and votes against warrantless spying via the Patriot Act every time.

The ICE funding bill passed 220-207. Massie wasn’t a deciding vote. He is on record for voting ‘No’ not because of the Bill itself but because of the added spending to the deficit.

Miller is not to be trusted—regardless of what anyone thinks of Massie. I don’t know that much about him. I know he worries about the deficit and civil liberties as we all should. But, I’ve researched quite a bit on Miller, and he’s a cancer.

Gallrein says he’s a Conservative Republican—not MAGA. But, he gives credit to Trump for playing ‘5D chess’, so we’ll see.

Gallrein refusing to debate Massie speaks volumes.

I've never been a fan of copy/past or meme's - due to the fact they are normally wrong to make a point.

If this imaginary person was single, his income percentage would be 22% - lets not forget the standard deduction.

Maybe he was in a State that charged state income tax.  The highest is California.....

So, lets see how much income tax (federal and state) a single male that grossed $50,656 in California would pay.

Federal estimate $4040
State: $1150

Combined - $5190

Take home:  $45,466

Including Medicare and SS - closer to 9K -still way off from original post

The copy/paste is WAY off......

Gallrein may not be bad at all. I don’t really know. But, I think a person can support many of Trump’s policies, disagree with others, and also agree with many of Massie’s ideas.

If you remember the Gang of 8, Miller specifically—and Sessions—sunk Immigration Reform in 2014. We almost had reform that would have eliminated Biden ever being able to allow all the illegals in way back then. But Miller sunk the reforms that most of America thought were common sense compromises because he and Sessions wanted to build a wall and limit any immigration even back in 2014.

Miller hasn’t changed, and we still have the immigration problem.

Here’s just quick random google search with him or her living in North Carolina since the post says they were charged crazy toll fees going to Florida. You’re off on your number . These numbers don’t include any money taken out for retirement and insurance. Let’s not forget the other taxes they can and will pay with their take home pay.

If you’re going to defend the amount of taxes we pay as just and fair then this conversation is over . Lol

A single individual in North Carolina making $50,000 per year will bring home an estimated $39,814 to $40,039 in net pay. This translates to roughly $3,318 to $3,337 per month.
The remaining salary is allocated to standard deductions and taxes:
Gross Salary: $50,000
  • Federal Taxes: ~$4,500
  • FICA (Social Security & Medicare): $3,825
  • State Income Tax: ~$1,470

The Breakdown
1. North Carolina State Taxes
North Carolina has a flat income tax rate of \(3.99\%\). Because there are no local income taxes in the state, your state tax burden is straightforward. After applying North Carolina's standard deduction (about \(\$13,000\) for single filers), you can calculate your state income tax using the following formula:
\((\$50,000-\$13,000)\times 0.0399=\$1,476.30\)
2. Federal Income Taxes
For a single filer in the 2026 tax year, the standard deduction is \(\$16,100\). This leaves you with a taxable income of \(\$33,900\). [

]
  • 10% Bracket: The first \(\$12,400\) is taxed at \(10\%\).
  • 12% Bracket: The remaining \(\$21,500\) is taxed at \(12\%\).
  • Total Federal Tax: \(\approx \$3,820\) [

3. FICA Taxes (Social Security & Medicare)
These payroll deductions fund federal programs and apply to all wage earners at flat rates: [

  • Social Security (6.2%): \(\$50,000 \times 0.062 = \$3,100\)
  • Medicare (1.45%): \(\$50,000 \times 0.0145 = \$725\)

Defend no - call out exaggerated figures..... YES

Your post supports my point - HE makes 50K and pays 9.8-10K in taxes, not 17K.

Social security and Medicaid is a benefit, so I'm not sure how you call that a tax. I do wish we could opt out of social security and those of us that have contributed for 44 years like myself could get it in one lump sum, and my kids could just not contribute....

As for insurance, in Texas you can put up 55K and self insure for each vehicle. Once your house is paid off, you can not insure it.

I just don't consider SS, Medicare, retirement/401 K taxes.  Those are a benefit you will be receiving back.

What would you consider to be fair taxes paid? The next question would be what services would you recommend cutting that was paid by the taxes you want to remove?
