I left before the 4th quarter, but I don’t think I saw HJ get passed the 50 all game. Their offense isn’t going to work. They don’t have the tools to run the spread and air it out. It didn’t work with Martel and it isn’t going to work now.

the defense is atrocious. HF could’ve ran 4 verticals every play and still would’ve been the same result.

HJ coach should set his pride to the side and get away from their new offense. As much as I hate seeing the bunched-up, 98% run-play type offense, I think it is best for the personnel that is on the field. They would not be getting beat so badly each game and would possibly have a few wins this year. I understand that this is the first year with the coach and offense, but I do not see HJ competing next year either if they keep the same offense with the players that they have.

So, what offense do you think they should run? The slot t produced a 9-30 record over the last four years.  The spread is currently 0-7.  Pro I, Wishbone, Notre Dame Box?

Good question. 😂 I am confident in saying the offense they are running is not the one! Maybe they just need some more move-ins from Beaumont. However, I think that if the right offense were in place, then they would have a better fight and would win some games. For instance, an offense ran like Anahauc or how Jack Alverez ran/run's his, then HJ would be a lot better. Neese completely turned Anahauc around with his style of offense and pay calling (ps.. I am not an Anahauc fan, just giving my thoughts). It's not about what offense a coach wants to run, but more about what offense best suits the players to be most successful.

To be fair to HJ and all. Neece has the best player on the field. HJ does not. Anahuac has gotten progressively better under Neece this aint his 1st year. Also hoops is sport #1 at HJ and is not and will never be at Anahuac. Give Bass and his system some time they are way behind the 8 ball in talent and consistency and this aint an over night fix. Everyone if they are honest saw these beatings coming.

I was not comparing Anahauc and HJ, I was simply mentioning that Neece's type of offense would fit HJ a lot better than the spread. Kirbyville dropped off tremendously after Neece left, and Anahauc got way better once Neece arrived. He has a great offense and scheme for the smaller, and/or less talented teams. This isn't about Neece, it is about the type of offense that fit's a team like HJ best. The spread simply won't work at HJ and time won't fix HJ. I hope Bass does well as I do not want anyone to fail.

Kirbyville talent also went down after Neece left

Did it? I'm not quite sure it went down that much once he left. The talent dropped off big time after the 2011 class graduated and Alverez left. That is when Neece took over and did not have near the talent that was fielded from 2008 - 2011. While they did not compete for a state title, he still had them relevant. Now that he left, they went down hill.

    • That was an awesome video!  I feel so proud of these young men.  They proved the doubters wrong.  Bellville should be proud, too.  I know it didn't end like they had hoped, but we've been there, so we can definitely empathize with them.  Great season, Brahmas!
    • Meh.. Everyone knows this. The kid that got injured wasn't lifting weights. Supposedly he was hit with a helmet in his elbow. In my opinion the kid shouldn't have been put in that situation. AD should've told the Varsity baseball players to sit that one out. I have no issues with the lifting or conditioning. However, anytime helmets/pads are on there is a higher risk of injury. This AD showed a total lack of respect for HIS baseball program.
    • Maybe.. however..  Many athletic director / head football coach have lost their job despite the athletic program as a whole being successful.. if the football team struggles.  On the other hand, when football teams are doing great but the rest of the program stinks.. AD/HFC still keeps their job. WOS.  Newton. .. programs as a whole were fairly weak during those many years of football power and very few people even knew it.  Or cared. Yet, AD/HFC kept their jobs for years. Meanwhile, I remember an AD/HFC at Barbers Hill lost his job after every program in the school won district championships and even had several team sports (baseball, softball, girls hoops, etc.) making runs at state.  But the football team was mediocre.  Fired. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that perception is reality.  And the perception is that your athletic program can suck as long as football wins.. it doesn't matter how strong the athletic program is if football sucks.
