  does anyone know what happened or the story behind this on why Hempstead had to forfeit

According to a source I have in Giddings, Hempstead

supposedly had several injuries and claimed they did

not have enough kids available to play in a game.

anyone can make up excuses... a 3-a team not havin enough kids to play come on now... the only reason they had to forfeit was because they knew they didnt stand a chance!

Hempstead is 2A, but I think they still should have been

able to field a team, agree that it was a way out of a potentially

embarassing loss.

Hempstead is a 2A school and they only had 14 healthy kids last Friday and of those 14 only 4 were offensive linemen....No need in taking your kids to Giddings to get embarrassed...You have to do what is best for your program, not the other team that you are playing...If Coach Seargent would have had enough linemen, they would have played....

That is really disappointing to hear. I understand injuries

are something you can't control and I don't like to see kids

get embarassed in lopsided losses either so I don't blame them for

forfeiting, but curious as to why they don't have more kids

out for football. Is enrollment an issue, I know they used to be

in 3A not that long ago.

Hempstead is a basketball school.  Their football practice field has no AC.
