Felman Malveaux ran a 4.29 average for the forty (average of 4 attempts).  He finished 2nd at the state meet in the 100 with a 10.31.  He also set the University of Michigan indoor 200 meter record.  Received a football scholarship to Michigan and also played pro football for Washington and Tampa Bay.  He was the Texas Class 3A Offensive Player of the Year in 1990.  Felman, Spencer George (Rice University and Tennessee Titans) and Anthony Semien are as good or better than Cedric Larnette.  Bobby Constantine was also a great athlete.  He was a decathalon athlete for Rice University and the state champion in the pole vault.

Ya'll both have convincing arguments, but it's hard to compare two different eras.  Felman was absolutely unstoppable as a wide receiver because he could simply outrun everybody.  As long as Loicano could throw it deep, Felman could go get it.  On the other hand, Larnette was pretty unstoppable too (on lesser talented teams).  But to answer the question of this post...I have to agree with Tiger24.  In my opinion Anthony Semien was HF's best RB.  Spencer George had more moves and was a good return man, but Anthony was just a bruiser.  Aah, the days of Lethal Weapon 3!

well the best two running backs I personally played against, but not from my school was Thurman Thomas of Willowridge- I think he did ok in college abd the NFL and Craig James of Stratford, part of the Pony Express at SMU. I did see Eric Dickerson play, he was pretty good!!

Shelton ran for a little over 900 yards his junior year and about 1200 his senior year. Where as Price ran for just over 1,100 his junior year and 1,600 his senior year.

I mentioned Robert Arline as a honorable mention because of him being the best fullback for Silsbee. But, overall Shelton was probably better than Arline.

  Shelton may have run for 900 yards his junior year, but he only ran for 45 yards on 3 carries his senior year because he broke his collarbone in the first game of the season against West Orange (before Stark merger) with Tony January. Shelton led the East Zone in rushing yds for 2 wks with that effort. Did not return to play that season because of his commitment to SMU. He started at SMU his freshman year but transfered to Lamar the next after he lost his job to Eric Dickerson and Craig James.

Arline was a great back as well.
